Death… And Me

Chapter 4541: I Forgot

Chapter 4541: I Forgot

Meanwhile, things began to grow tumultuous all over Dlaval City. Pictures of the twins’ group were being distributed everywhere, appearing on streets, in markets, at the entrances of major establishments, and in the hands of cultivators responsible for spreading the news.

The Rosvelt Sect didn’t even try to hide the reason behind the wanted posters. It was clearly stated that everyone depicted could possibly be an outsider. Any information regarding their identities, whereabouts, or movements would be handsomely rewarded.

As helpless as the countless years had made the cultivators trapped inside Woster, the fact that there were still those who tried to leave was proof that the dream of escape had never truly disappeared. Very old records spoke of the many resources that could supposedly be found outside, of lands stretching farther than anyone inside Woster could imagine, and of a world that wasn’t confined by invisible borders and an unknown force that killed anyone who tried to cross them.

Sure, those who attempted to escape were usually cultivators nearing the end of their lifespans, experts stuck at the Peak Stage of the Law God Realm, or simply desperate individuals with nothing left to lose. Nonetheless, even those people made their attempts while carrying the hope that they might find a new chance somewhere beyond Woster.

The possibility that actual outsiders had appeared was therefore enough to shake the entire city.

—

It didn’t take long for information from the Thousand-Script Sect and the Arrays Guild in the northern section to arrive at the Rosvelt Sect. There were also numerous visual accounts of members of the outsider group appearing in establishments throughout Dlaval, as well as reports connected to other powers, such as the Fuhuo Clan in the western section.

One could only imagine Fornetia’s surprise when she looked at one of the posters and saw Thery and his companions’ faces.

"What?! It’s them?!"

Her eyes immediately moved to the rewards being offered, and she couldn’t help but take a deep breath. What was written there would probably be enough to change her life forever. She could even choose to become a disciple of the Rosvelt Sect without undergoing any trials, with guaranteed resources equivalent to those given to one of the sect’s top disciples for as long as she remained there.

For someone at her level, such an opportunity was almost impossible to refuse.

Yet, in the end, Fornetia could only sigh and shake her head. It had already been quite some time since she last saw Thery’s group, so how could she possibly know where they had gone? Not to mention that she had encountered them on the streets. There were definitely many others who had seen them as well, so merely recognizing their faces wasn’t enough to earn her anything.

But then, she suddenly remembered something.

Fornetia quickly brought a Purple Stone out of her Spatial Ring.

These stones weren’t exactly rare, but they were relatively expensive for cultivators at the Aura God Realm or below. They were Woster’s method of communicating over distances, functioning in a manner somewhat similar to communication talismans. It’s just that they were much weaker and didn’t go as far.

The Purple Stones always worked in pairs, so one had to think carefully about whom to give the other half to. Fornetia possessed three pairs, and acquiring them had cost her a considerable amount of crystals. Even so, she almost never used them.

There had been one exception.

When she first met Thery, she had wanted to form a hunting group with him and his companions. Her proposal had been for them to join larger hunting parties that ventured into areas where Godly Predators were known to appear. Members of the Thousand-Script Race were famous for being excellent support cultivators and were always in high demand among hunting groups.

Thery hadn’t made a decision that day, but Fornetia hadn’t minded at the time. Since Thery and his companions possessed thick Thousand-Script Race bloodlines, she had thought it was worth giving him one Stone from one of her Purple Communication Stone pairs.

The pair could still be used for communication three times before both Stones lost all their power. (Chapter 4508)

—

Fornetia stared intently at the Purple Stone resting in her hand.

Could Thery still have his half?

If he did, would it be possible to locate him by using the Stone in her possession? If that was possible, would providing the Rosvelt Sect with that information be enough for her to receive the promised reward?

Countless thoughts raced through her mind. ’Even the Rosvelt Sect doesn’t seem capable of finding them. If I can help the sect with that, would it really be okay to make an enemy of someone even the Rosvelt Sect can’t catch?’

Her eyes narrowed as another possibility appeared in her mind. ’What if I contact Thery instead? Maybe he could offer me something as well? He most likely can’t offer me what the Rosvelt Sect promised, but if he really is an outsider... maybe he can bring me out of this place?’

She immediately frowned. ’Would he actually do something like that, though? If I were him, the moment I noticed a message arriving through this Stone, I would probably throw it away without even checking who sent it.’

Another problem quickly followed. ’First of all, is it even possible to track someone simply because they possess the other half of a Purple Communication Stone pair? There is also the distance limit. If they are too far away, the Stone will lose one of its three remaining charges for nothing.’

Fornetia simply couldn’t make a decision.

She could go to the Rosvelt Sect and potentially receive a life-changing reward, securing herself an excellent future inside Woster. However, she would ultimately remain trapped in this place.

Or she could gamble on a much smaller possibility: that Thery would somehow recognize her value and perhaps even consider taking her outside Woster if his group truly knew how to escape.

Of course, Fornetia wasn’t an idiot. She knew perfectly well that the chances of Thery actually being happy to receive a message from her were almost nonexistent. Once again, if he realized who was contacting him, he would most likely throw the Purple Stone away before she could even explain herself.

As for the Rosvelt Sect, although receiving the reward wasn’t guaranteed either, there was definitely a much greater chance that she would gain something from reporting what she knew. Besides, if Rosvelt managed to capture the outsiders, wouldn’t they eventually discover a way to leave Woster anyway?

If that happened, she could still end up outside.

The only problem would be if Thery’s group managed to escape before the Rosvelt Sect captured them.

Fornetia slowly sat down, her eyes fixed on the Purple Stone with deep contemplation.

One nearly impossible chance of things going well by sending Thery a message...

One very good chance of receiving the reward if she went to the Rosvelt Sect, together with the possibility that Woster might eventually be opened anyway...

The more she thought about it, the clearer the choice became. In the end, she let out another sigh and shook her head. "The choice is obvious."

—

Back when the twins’ group was still adapting to Woster, they had also looked for new places to stay in case things went south inside the vault. In fact, they had secured several different locations, all situated outside Dlaval City on the western side. Coyui had never been told about those places since there had simply been no need to share that information with him.

When Kentucky saw Coyui inside the Rosvelt Sect, Rean immediately contacted everyone through the RC network. After a brief discussion, they agreed on which of their backup locations they would use as their next meeting point.

The location chosen was outside the city near the northern border.

That was where Thery, Sison, Haniala, Arcis, Lukay, and Flugel were supposed to gather. Roan was also flying directly toward that location, although he would still need another two or three hours to arrive.

The first ones to reach the meeting point were Flugel and Lukay. Arcis’s group arrived a few tens of minutes later, as Arcis had deliberately flown away from the main paths and other commonly watched areas before changing direction and heading toward the secret location.

Everyone had just gathered and was about to begin discussing their options. Yet, before anyone could say much... "Hum?"

Thery suddenly narrowed his eyes and reached for his Spatial Ring. Inside, he could feel the other half of the Purple Stone pair he had received from Fornetia.

His expression immediately turned ugly. "Shit! I completely forgot about this thing!"
