Death… And Me

Chapter 4547: No Throne For You

Chapter 4547: No Throne For You

On the surface, the sect had been completely sealed off from the outside. It made sense, since Falasliu and the others had discovered that someone had entered the Woster Guarding Grounds. Of course, the twins’ group had no idea that place had such a name.

Kentucky watched the movement around him and noticed that there were even more elders spread throughout the surface area directly above the Guarding Grounds. From the looks of it, they had received an order stating that someone might try to appear there after the High-Elders went down.

Of course, they had also heard how the outsider had managed to play Falasliu’s role perfectly, so there was a chance that Rean’s group could disguise themselves and mix in with the other disciples and elders again. Because of that, part of the orders was for everyone to check each other’s identities. The sect’s badges recorded the Godly Sense of their respective owners, so simply changing one’s appearance wouldn’t be enough to fake an identity.

Kentucky, Kachia, and Celis had to be especially careful about where they stood. As mentioned before, Celestial and Godly Senses couldn’t be used normally in Woster, so the spread of energy method had been employed instead. The trio couldn’t get too close to any of the elders or disciples, since doing so could bring them within the range of their energy senses.

Kachia looked at everything happening around them and couldn’t help but grow nervous. ’Are we really okay staying here?’

Kentucky definitely wanted to leave as well. He kept watching the elders moving around the area while considering their options. ’I know how you feel, but the sect has been sealed. Maybe we could try to flee through the air while using my Light Bending Skill, but I’m not too sure that would work. There is always the chance that the borders are protected by detection arrays.’

’What are you talking about?’ Celis asked back. ’We have to wait for Rean. He is down there right now, and for some reason, that skeleton is hiding him.’

’Well... it doesn’t look like Rean will be able to come out anytime soon,’ Kentucky retorted.

’You don’t know that, so let’s keep waiting,’ Celis didn’t relent.

Kentucky could only sigh internally. There was no point arguing with Celis when he had already made up his mind. Besides, Kentucky also knew that leaving Rean behind wasn’t an option. As dangerous as their current position was, they could only wait for Rean to figure out a way out of the underground space.

—

Rean watched the commotion taking place throughout the Woster Guarding Grounds. Once again, he didn’t know it was called that. As far as he was concerned, it was simply the enormous underground chamber beneath the Rosvelt Sect.

He peeked out from behind the throne and could see the High-Elders moving everywhere, both on the ground and in the air.

’They are definitely using the energy sense to check every corner of this place, still...’ Rean narrowed his eyes as he watched them carefully.

Falasliu himself had gotten quite close, and Rean was certain that, with Falasliu’s cultivation, he could spread his Godly Energy far enough to reach Rean even behind the throne. Yet, Rean hadn’t felt anything so far. In fact, Falasliu had looked toward the throne several times, but he didn’t seem particularly interested in this area.

Rean found that strange. If they were searching every corner, why hadn’t anyone tried to approach the throne?

Seeing the other High-Elders coming and going, Rean eventually realized the reason. The barrier that had prevented him from getting close to the throne before was present again. It was still protecting the throne and Azerion, making it impossible for the High-Elders to investigate the area properly.

Even those Law Gods couldn’t do anything about it.

’Rean,’ Luxa’s voice suddenly echoed in Rean’s mind. ’The smell... It’s coming from under this chair.’

’Chair? Oh, right. The throne. But what smell are you talking about?’ Rean asked, momentarily confused by her choice of words.

’A smell like the one outside Woster, from where I first felt your presence,’ Luxa explained.

Rean immediately understood. She was talking about the time his Yang Energy had caused Luxa to awaken from her womb. ’The energy here is also familiar, right?’

Luxa wagged her tails. ’Yes, very!’

Rean nodded slightly. ’Okay, I’ll keep that in mind. The throne might have some secret. However, we can’t check it now, so wait a little, okay?’

’Okay!’ Luxa nodded vigorously.

Rean gave the throne another careful look. Whatever secret was hidden beneath it, he would have to investigate it later. Right now, the most important thing was avoiding the High-Elders who were searching the chamber.

—

Back where Roan’s group was gathered, everyone watched what was happening with Roan’s help.

"Isn’t this an opportunity?" Flugel asked.

"What do you mean?" Everyone looked at him.

"The sect is fully focused on finding Rean’s group in the Rosvelt Sect. They probably won’t pay attention elsewhere," Flugel explained.

Roan could see where Flugel was coming from. If the entire Rosvelt Sect was concentrating its forces around the Guarding Grounds, then this might be their best chance to investigate. "You want us to check that second teleport array we were told about, likely by Azerion."

"Yes," Flugel nodded. "The Rosvelt Sect definitely knows about our first array due to Coyui. But even if this second array is protected, we can at least get close enough to check it. The Rosvelt experts everywhere are bound to have received the message about Rean’s group. Would they really expect us to appear at the array right now?"

Roan pondered for a bit before taking another look at the coordinates that had been sent to Thery earlier. Rean’s airplane was with him, so it wouldn’t be difficult for them to fly away without attracting attention. At the very least, they could approach the coordinates from a distance and observe the area before deciding whether it was safe.

"Very well. Will anyone stay here?"

No one wanted to. "It’s better if we keep together."

"Alright," Roan said without complaining. "Let’s go outside."

Outside, Roan waved his hand, and Rean’s airplane appeared. Everyone quickly entered before Roan activated the Light Bending Array plates, causing the airplane to disappear from sight. Only then did Roan take flight.

"This second teleport array is in the south section of Dlaval City," Roan commented as he checked the coordinates.

Arcis took a look as well. "It’s actually inside the city? Weren’t all the arrays in the vaults inside the city pretty much done for?"

Flugel and Lukay confirmed it. "At least the ones we checked, yes. Still, you heard how there are likely many vaults that haven’t been found yet, right?"

Arcis remained skeptical. "A vault in the city? Would it really be there?"

Flugel shrugged. "We will first take a look at it from afar while inside the airplane. If it turns out we can’t get close, we can simply fly somewhere else. There’s no need to take unnecessary risks."

Thery agreed. "He is right. We still need to secure a way out of Woster in case things go south, after all. It’s worth checking this information. Besides, if it was really Azerion who contacted us, it seems like he doesn’t want to attract the High-Elders’ attention in Rosvelt. This second array might be completely empty."

That truly puzzled everyone.

Why was Azerion pretending to be a dead skeleton to the Rosvelt Sect?

They had already seen enough to know that Azerion was hiding something. He clearly had enough power to deal with Rean, yet instead of killing him, he had chosen to hide him behind his throne. Now, he had even instructed Rean to conceal himself from the High-Elders.

Whatever his objective was, it clearly wasn’t helping them escape Woster. They would have to wait to find the answer.

—

Time passed, and several hours went by.

Falasliu and the other High-Elders’ expressions began to turn ugly. The open space underground was indeed enormous, but they had already spent hours searching through it. They were now pretty sure they had verified every corner available.

Well, every corner with the exception of the inaccessible throne, that is.

The strange barrier around it remained untouched, and none of them had been able to approach it. For the High-Elders, that was becoming increasingly frustrating. For Rean, however, it was the only reason he hadn’t been discovered yet.
