Chapter 4590: Not Alone
Chapter 4590: Not Alone
When Roan and Celis attacked the Bone Vulture for the first time, they gave Lukay and Rean enough time to move somewhere else. They hadn’t truly disappeared; they had simply concealed themselves using Rean’s Light Bending Skill.
To be fair, the Vulture should have paid more attention. If it had focused on its natural perception of cultivators instead of relying primarily on its eyes, it might have noticed Rean and Lukay moving toward the forest below. Unfortunately, it had no intelligence to speak of, so expecting it to make such a judgment was asking too much. Besides, how many times had it even seen cultivators in its life? One could probably count it on their hands.
Once Rean and Lukay reached their intended position, they didn’t simply remain there. Roan and Celis had successfully caught the Vulture’s attention, but there was still a chance the creature would notice them once it got close to the ambush location. That was why, as soon as they arrived, Rean pulled both himself and Lukay into the Great Void. From that point onward, they were truly gone from the battlefield.
Everything proceeded according to plan. Roan and Celis continued to lure the Vulture toward the ambush point. Since Rean was connected to both Roan and Celis, he could see what they were seeing. Even if he couldn’t, however, he could still monitor the surroundings near the Spatial Entrance he had left behind.
Finally, the Vulture passed directly by the entrance Rean had left behind, and Rean pulled himself and Lukay out once again. The two appeared just as the Vulture was flying past them, and the Godly Horror immediately noticed their presence. Unfortunately for it, there was no longer enough time to react.
Lukay, who had spent all this time focusing solely on charging his technique, immediately unleashed his attack. Combined with the sudden disruption caused by the Yin Yang Sanctuary, the strike landed directly on the Bone Vulture and inflicted a devastating blow.
Yet…
*Flap!*
The Vulture suddenly opened its eyes again, and despite the injuries ravaging its body, it forcefully rotated itself in midair, preventing its massive body from falling into the trees below. It was still alive.
‘Red Death, Eighth Form, Descending Slicer!’
‘Energy Draining Prison!’
‘Red Life, Crimson Stellar Piercer!’
Roan was never known for giving his enemies a chance to recover. The instant the Bone Vulture began to fall, he had already ordered Rean and Celis to attack with him. Celis’s vines and roots rapidly spread through the surrounding space, enclosing the Vulture from multiple directions, while Rean and Roan’s attacks struck from opposite sides.
*CREEEEEE!!!*
The Vulture screamed in even greater pain. Lukay’s lightning was still wreaking havoc inside its body, while the Yin Yang Sanctuary continued to suppress its strength. Under normal circumstances, a Godly Horror of this level could have easily broken free from their combined attacks. But with its cultivation weakened and its body already severely injured, things were completely different.
*Rawr!*
Luxa finally joined the attack as well. Rean had just landed his Crimson Stellar Piercer, leaving an enormous wound in the Vulture’s body, and the little girl immediately took advantage of the opening by aiming her attack directly into the exposed flesh.
*Kaboom!*
Fiery red and golden flames erupted from inside the Vulture’s body while Celis continued absorbing and draining away the energy the creature desperately tried to circulate.
The Bone Vulture struggled with everything it had. Several times, it attempted to break out of Celis’s Energy Draining Prison, and every time, the surrounding vines and roots were violently shaken. A Godly Horror was simply too powerful for them to restrain easily, but the twins’ group had no intention of allowing it even a moment to recover.
Rean, Roan, Celis, eventually Lukay, and Luxa continuously alternated their attacks, striking from different directions and exploiting every opening the others created. Whenever the Vulture focused on one of them, another immediately attacked from its blind spot. Little by little, its resistance weakened.
Finally…
*Puft!*
One of Celis’s vines, reinforced with Wood Element and Godly Energy, shot forward and pierced directly through one of the Bone Vulture’s red eyes. The vine continued straight through its skull, destroying the Godly Horror’s brain in an instant.
This time, the Bone Vulture fell for real. Its enormous body crashed into the forest below, and there was no longer any movement from it. The Bone Vulture was dead.
Rean looked at the corpse and let out a sigh of relief. “Phew… it sure gave us a lot more trouble than that Drake back then.”
Roan nodded. “That was to be expected. Our cultivation has improved since then, but this Godly Horror was also considerably stronger than the Drake. The Sanctuary weakened it, but it still retained strength at the Godly Horror level.”
Lukay, on the other hand, looked quite excited. “Hey, we should celebrate! We actually killed a Godly Horror for real this time! A Godly Horror! The Drake was also a Godly Horror, but your Sanctuary weakened it until it was only as strong as a Godly Predator. This Vulture remained at the Godly Horror level until the very end. Back in Besgol, the idea of killing a Godly Horror outside the Sacred Relic’s influence was almost unheard of!”
*Puft!*
Several vines pierced into the Bone Vulture’s skull.
*Raark!*
Celis pulled the Godly Horror Crystal out of its head and held it up. “Now, that’s a lot more like it.”
*Rawr!*
Luxa immediately perked up. ‘Can I have it?! Can I? Can I?!’
Rean reached over and gently stroked her fur. “No. Godly Horror Crystals are completely out of the question for you right now. Or did you already forget what happened the last time you tried absorbing a Godly Crystal that was several levels above your own?”
Luxa’s little body immediately trembled. She definitely hadn’t forgotten the pain she had experienced back then. ‘Then, then! The Godly Predator ones! I can have those in exchange, right? Right?!’
“Don’t worry,” Rean assured her. “You’ll definitely get your share. I told you, we’ll collect all the crystals first, and then we’ll distribute them so everyone can cultivate together.”
‘Okay!’ Luxa immediately became happy again. For a fox that was already several decades old, she was still surprisingly childish.
Celis looked down at the Bone Vulture’s corpse. “This one should be quite valuable. We’d better bring it back and sell it in Besgol.”
“But if we sell it, won’t everyone know that we can kill Godly Horrors?” Lukay asked. “Is that really okay?”
Roan didn’t seem concerned. “There is no point hiding our strength for much longer. The important thing is not revealing how we did it. That’s precisely why we participate in these Elite Exploration Missions. We’re far away from prying eyes.”
“Speaking of prying eyes…” Rean immediately connected to his RC. He contacted Aurundi, who had noticed that the twins’ group had stopped moving, and informed him that they had merely encountered some Godly Creatures and stopped to deal with them. “Done. Aurundi knows we’re fine now.”
*Zush!*
Suddenly, Kentucky and Kachia appeared beside Celis.
“Oh! So you really did manage to kill the Godly Horror.”
Kachia, however, was staring at the enormous corpse in shock. “Unbelievable…”
Kentucky smiled at her. “You’ll get to help us kill a few later, too.”
Kachia took a deep breath and nodded. She would be lying if she said she wasn’t afraid, but the results of their battle were right there in front of her. They had truly killed a Godly Horror. “I’ll… try.”
*Roar!*
Suddenly, the group heard the distant approach of several Godly Creatures.
Roan immediately looked toward the surroundings. “Well, with this guy dead, the battle will attract every Godly Creature nearby. Let’s leave this place before we get surrounded.”
They quickly stored the Bone Vulture’s corpse inside the Vinx Great Void, entered the airplane, and resumed their journey.
Thirty minutes later, Aurundi also passed through the area. He was immediately surprised by the number of Godly Creatures fighting each other below. Judging by the chaos, something significant must have happened. ‘Just what did they kill here to make this many Godly Creatures go crazy?’
He didn’t stop to investigate, however, and simply continued following the twins’ group.
Little did any of them know that a few days later, another group would pass through this same area, flying deeper in the same direction the twins’ group and Aurundi had taken.
