Chapter 616: Upgraded Powers

Chapter 616: Upgraded Powers

Bastet’s felinid ears twitched.

She lifted her chin.

"Know your place," she commanded.

The pressure doubled.

Stone screamed. Shadows shattered. And the Skirmeshade Stalkers learned, too late, that the sun did not need to chase its enemies.

— Thirsty247: What the heck is going on? When did the girls become superbabes? They’re not even casting spells... They’re just obliterating their enemies?!

Kaiden almost laughed.

’That’s a damn good question.’

His eyes stayed on the battlefield, on Aria ruling the sky like a cold lunar executioner, on Bastet turning the ground itself into a kneeling subject, but his thoughts drifted backward, slipping past the noise, past the cheers, past the blood and spectacle.

Back to after the trial.

After Wrath.

When he had been shaking, raw, emotionally flayed in a way no amount of physical pain could compare to.

That was when the messages had come.

A storm of text.

And buried in it, missed, unread, overshadowed by the emotional aftermath, had been one message that hadn’t received his attention immediately.

One that now surfaced in his mind with perfect clarity.

The system chimed.

[The Heavenly Demon labored for five millennia.]

[Objective: Creation of a casting methodology that bypasses external invocation.]

[Result: Skill forged.]

The words burned themselves into his awareness.

[Skill Acquired: [Silent Casting]]

[Tier: ???]

[Description:]

[A perfected internalized casting principle. Removes dependency on vocalization, gestures, conduits, catalysts, and conscious spell construction.]

[All expressions of power are executed through intent, alignment, and dominance.]

His gaze flicked, briefly, to the girls.

To Luna, tearing the sky apart without incantations.

To Aria, discarding her staff like a needless accessory.

To Bastet, rewriting the battlefield just by walking.

[This skill was the prerequisite for acceptance by the Original Sin.]

[It enabled the Heavenly Demon to transcend conventional authority.]

[It is what allowed him to become the Paragon of Sin.]

[The Successor inherited the class.]

[The Successor inherited the skill.]

[And now the Successor has received the Recognition of the Original Sin.]

Something clicked in Kaiden, deep and fundamental.

[Symbiosis detected.]

[Successor and Companions have achieved the required emotional, conceptual, and existential alignment.]

[Condition Met: Shared Will.]

[Condition Met: Mutual Trust.]

[Condition Met: Absolute Acceptance.]

[Unlocking the true potential of inherited authority...]

The words appeared one final time.

[[Silent Casting] (???-Tier) transforming...]

Following that, the skill dissolved, flowed outward from Kaiden’s core like ink dropped into water, threading through invisible connections, sinking into Luna, Aria, Bastet, Nyx, and Calypso without resistance.

No announcement followed.

No replacement skill.

No new icon.

Because there was nothing left to display.

[Integration complete.]

[Authority internalized.]

[Casting no longer recognized as a discrete action.]

Kaiden exhaled slowly as he remembered back to when he realized this had happened. What a shocker that was.

As for why Bastet was exerting her powers like some dommy mommy desert pharaoh...

Well, the three Valkyries faced the Aspect of Storm, Space, and Moon, respectively.

Bastet, however, faced the Aspect of Dominion. She was forced to realize that solar spells were merely a part of her true arsenal. And now, she wielded her powers with extreme authority.

The rewards the girls received were just like Kaiden’s. Their spells were taken away, having become irrelevant.

In their stead, a single spell remained.

Manifestation of Storm/Space/Moon/Dominion.

It was akin to a manipulation spell, letting them do what they wanted with their powers - so long as they had the power to make it a reality.

Their powers were still limited as such; Nyx couldn’t just look at Vespera and hold her in place with her spatial powers alone. Aria was still restricted by her Mana and Magic stat; she couldn’t spam obliteration endlessly, and what she could summon was limited by multiple factors.

But one thing was for certain: both Kaiden and the girls had received a drastic power-up. Their old selves having ascended, reaching a new height.

And Bastet wasn’t alone in having a less straightforward trial than the three Valkyries.

Calypso rolled her shoulders and grinned.

Not the playful grin she used when chatting with her friends.

Not the sultry one she aimed at Kaiden when she wanted to receive his affection.

This one was sharp and slightly unhinged, in the perfect way. If Kaiden were to be asked that is, not her enemies.

Her red skin gleamed unnaturally, muscles flexing as she rested the haft of her massive axe against her shoulder. The weapon buzzed, empowered by her mere hold on it. A low, eager vibration that crawled up the spine, a promise of violence waiting to be fulfilled.

She looked at Kaiden.

Eyes bright, wild, and devoted.

"Darling~" she purred, voice rough with anticipation, lips splitting into a manic smile. "Let’s go."

Together.

The axe buzzed.

Kaiden met her gaze and gave a single nod, alongside a hungry grin of his own. Calypso was not the only battle manic in the group. "Let’s tear them apart together, Cali."

That was all she needed.

Calypso laughed.

It burst out of her, loud and feral, a sound that carried across the battlefield and made several monsters instinctively flinch. Then she launched herself forward, the ground cracking where she pushed off, body turning into a red comet of muscle, horn, and murderous intent.

She hit the first enemy like a landslide.

The axe came down in a brutal overhead chop that didn’t just cleave through armor... It pulverized it, driving the creature into the stone beneath with a wet, concussive boom. The blade didn’t stop. It kept going, carving a trench through stone and flesh alike as Calypso wrenched it free and spun.

Something slashed her side.

She didn’t dodge.

The blade bit deep, tearing red skin, spilling dark blood down her ribs.

Calypso’s grin only deepened.

Her eyes flared, pupils blown wide as power surged through her veins. The wound smoked, feeding something inside her. Her muscles swelled, veins standing out, her presence exploding outward like a shockwave.

The Manifestation of Carnage.

That was what this woman became.

She barreled forward, taking another hit to the shoulder, then another across her thigh. Each strike only made her faster and stronger.

Calypso crashed into a cluster of enemies and swept her axe in a savage horizontal arc that took legs out from under three at once. Before they hit the ground, she reversed the grip and brought the blade up in a rising cleave that tore one clean in half, blood spraying across her face and chest.

And just like this, Calypso became a storm of carnage.

She waded through enemies, axe rising and falling in relentless, bone-shattering strikes. Limbs flew. Bodies folded. The ground became slick with blood and shattered armor as she carved a path straight through the formation, laughing all the while, eyes locked forward, always pressing deeper.

Alice’s words brought Kaiden out of his daze, which was inflicted upon him when he saw the sexy brutality his amazing demoness was displaying.

<Big brother...!! Stop simping. That woman is crazy.>

<Stop simping for my gorgeous demoness? Never.> Kaiden decreed as he caught himself and stepped forward, entering the fray together with his girls.

<Hmph!!!> Alice scoffed.

<Let’s go, Alice. Help us make the statement the world needs to hear.>

<Hmm! You still need me, got it?! I am your Conduit!>

<Naturally. That’s not up for debate, and it never will be.>

The girl’s mood instantly brightened now that her big brother wasn’t ogling the women and had returned his attention to her. <Okay... I’ll help you, I suppose!>

Kaiden chuckled.

And then jumped.

Just like this, streamed live for all to see, the world was introduced to the new and improved Sinners.

The results of which were...

Varied.
