Chapter 1227 Helping Mimi

Chapter 1227  Helping Mimi

Max continued to push forward, his every movement a battle against the crushing force that surrounded him. The air around Mimi had grown unbearably dense, saturated with the power of devouring that seemed to come from every direction. The crimson mist swirled violently, and the world itself trembled as if rejecting his advance.

Each step he took forward felt heavier than the last. It was as if he were walking through a storm that refused to let him reach his destination.

His Dragon Scales glowed faintly, the black luster that covered his body beginning to dull. The sharp edges of the scales trembled under the relentless pull of Mimi's power, and cracks of faint red light began to appear along them.

Even his black flames, which had once burned with an intensity capable of consuming mountains, flickered weakly as if struggling to stay alive. The devouring energy ahead was unlike anything he had ever faced. It did not simply absorb—it erased. It stripped away everything it touched, leaving nothing behind.

Max's body trembled under the growing pressure. His breathing became heavy, and the flow of mana within him grew chaotic. Every time he tried to stabilize his energy, another wave of force surged from Mimi, pushing him back and trying to tear his strength apart. The closer he got, the more the resistance increased, as though the universe itself sought to separate them. The crimson light ahead flared brighter, wrapping around Mimi like a living shroud.

Yet, despite the unbearable strain, Max refused to stop. His eyes, though narrowed from the effort, held a firm determination. He could feel his defenses collapsing piece by piece, but he pushed onward, step by step.

'If only I can talk to her,' he thought, his mind echoing with desperation and hope. 'If I can just reach her, maybe I can stop this.'

He believed that beneath the overwhelming hunger consuming her, a trace of the girl he once knew still remained. The Mimi who had smiled brightly, the spirit who had followed him with endless curiosity, must still exist somewhere inside this vortex of destruction. That belief kept him moving.

The ground beneath his feet cracked as he forced his body forward again. Every motion caused shockwaves to ripple through the crimson mist. The force pushing against him grew stronger, pressing against his chest until it felt like the air itself was trying to crush his heart.

He gritted his teeth, his muscles straining, his aura flaring to its limit. The black flames reignited for a brief moment, swirling violently around him as he let out a low, guttural roar that echoed through the devouring storm.

With one final surge of effort, he crossed the last few steps separating him from her. The pressure around him reached its peak, shaking the air with deafening vibrations. His dragon scales were barely holding together, his energy fluctuating wildly, and the heat from his flames was fading fast.

But despite it all, Max finally stood before her. The red mist twisted around them like a vortex, and the world seemed to fall silent. Mimi's small figure was only a few feet away now, her violet hair swaying softly in the crimson current. Her eyes remained empty, glowing faintly with a strange light that carried neither emotion nor awareness.

Max took a shaky breath, his voice quiet but filled with determination. "Mimi," he said, reaching a trembling hand toward her, "look at me. It's me, Max."

This time, as if the sound of his voice had reached her through the storm of energy surrounding her, Mimi's head turned slowly. Her violet hair fluttered in the crimson current as her gaze shifted toward him.

For a brief moment, her expression was blank, her glowing red eyes devoid of awareness. Then something seemed to flicker within them—recognition, faint but real. Her lips parted slightly, and a small, trembling voice escaped her.

"Big Brother Max?" she said, her tone filled with confusion and disbelief.

Max froze where he stood. Relief washed over him the instant he heard her voice. She had recognized him. The tension that had built inside his chest eased slightly, and a faint, hopeful smile appeared on his face.

For a moment, he had feared that the devouring force consuming her had erased all traces of her mind. But now it seemed that somewhere inside the chaos, the girl he once knew still remained.

"Yes, it's me, Mimi," Max said softly. His voice was calm, carrying the warmth of reassurance. "Does Mimi still recognize her Big Brother Max?"

Mimi nodded quickly, her movements childlike and sincere. Her eyes seemed to brighten with a fragile light. "Mimi and Big Brother Max are friends. Big Brother Max helped Mimi before," she said with a small smile that almost made her look like her old self.

Max's heart softened at her words. He nodded, smiling gently as he took another step toward her, though carefully so as not to provoke the devouring energy surrounding her. "Yes, I remember, Mimi. You and I have met before. I am happy you still remember me."

He paused for a moment, his expression turning serious. "Mimi, what happened to you? Can you stop this?" His eyes searched hers, hoping to find some trace of clarity or awareness.

Mimi blinked, her expression becoming distant for a second before her eyes widened slightly. "Mimi is very hungry," she said in a trembling voice. "Did Big Brother Max come here to help Mimi?"

Max nodded, his tone patient and calm. "Yes, I came to help you," he said. "But for me to help you, you need to stop what you're doing. Can you stop this for a little while, so I can help you?"

Mimi tilted her head to the side, her violet hair falling over one shoulder. "But Mimi is hungry," she whispered softly. "Mimi needs food. Isn't Big Brother Max helping me?" Her voice was innocent, but there was a strange emptiness behind it, a hunger that went beyond mere need.

Max forced a smile, trying to maintain a calm tone even as unease crept up his spine. "I am helping you, Mimi," he said slowly. "But I can't do that while this power is still active. You need to stop first, and then I'll help you."
