Chapter 1228  Terrifying Devouring Powers!

Mimi blinked once, and her eyes shimmered faintly. "Big Brother Max is helping Mimi?" she asked again, and then, suddenly, her lips curved into a wide smile. "Mimi is hungry. I want some food from Big Brother Max."

The moment she spoke those words, the atmosphere around them shifted violently. Max's expression changed as he felt his entire body react. His energy, which he had been maintaining with great effort, suddenly turned unstable. The flow of mana within him became chaotic, surging toward the surface as though trying to escape his control.

He gasped in shock as his black flames flickered and vanished, and his Dragon Scales Transformation began to unravel. The armor of scales that had protected his body crumbled into fading black light, leaving his form exposed.

In the next instant, he felt his strength draining rapidly. His energy was leaking out of him, drawn away by an invisible force that tugged at every particle of power he possessed. A wave of weakness struck him, making his knees tremble.

"Mimi! What are you doing?" Max shouted, panic cutting through his voice as he struggled to stabilize his power.

Mimi blinked again, her expression calm and innocent. "Mimi is eating food," she said with a soft, almost cheerful tone. "Big Brother Max is helping Mimi with her hunger."

Her voice carried no malice, only the pure, unthinking simplicity of a child who did not understand the consequences of her actions. But to Max, her words were more terrifying than any threat. He could feel her devouring his life force directly, pulling the very essence of his being into her.

Horror gripped him as realization struck. He had been too naive. He had thought that he could reach her through words, that the girl he once knew could be brought back just by speaking to her.

But now he understood that what stood before him was no longer just Mimi. It was something else—something that consumed without reason, a being driven by hunger so deep that even love or memory could not restrain it.

"Mimi, stop!" Max shouted, his voice echoing through the crimson storm, but the girl only smiled as the devouring continued.

Max felt his strength collapsing as the invisible pull of Mimi's devouring power intensified. It was no longer just his mana or energy that was being consumed. The force had reached deeper, touching his life force and tearing at the very structure of his existence.

His vision blurred for a moment as he struggled to hold his energy together, but the pressure only grew stronger. Every pulse of that crimson aura around Mimi was like a wave striking him from within, breaking down the very balance of his body.

Then it began.

A sharp crack echoed faintly through the air, and Max's eyes widened in disbelief as he looked down at his arm. A thin fissure had appeared across the surface of his skin, glowing faintly with crimson light. The crack was small at first, no thicker than a hair, but it spread rapidly like lightning running across glass.

Within seconds, the same fissures began to appear all over his body, branching outward in countless directions. Each time a new line appeared, a surge of pain tore through him, not like any physical injury but as if his very existence was being peeled away layer by layer.

He clenched his teeth and tried to reinforce his body with energy, but it was useless. The devouring force swallowed everything he pushed out, leaving nothing behind. His body, which had been tempered by the Giant Dwarves and strengthened beyond the limits of divine beings, was now beginning to crumble before this unnatural power.

It was a terrifying realization.

The dwarves had once told him that his flesh could withstand divine strikes and the collapse of entire realms, yet now, it was breaking apart from the pull of a ten-year-old girl.

'This is impossible,' he thought, his heart pounding in disbelief. 'Even divine power couldn't harm me, and yet this… this is tearing me apart.'

The cracks deepened, and faint streams of light began leaking out from within them. The divine energy that made up his body was being pulled toward Mimi like flowing water rushing into a void.

His scales, which once glowed with indestructible black brilliance, shattered one after another, turning into motes of light that dissolved into the crimson mist. His skin peeled away into particles, his blood turned to energy, and the force within him was unraveling faster than he could repair it.

"Mimi, stop!" he shouted, his voice trembling from the strain. His knees buckled slightly, and his body felt lighter with every passing second. The devouring energy had become so strong that it was erasing the space around him. Even the ground beneath his feet was disintegrating into fine dust, drawn toward Mimi's small frame.

His mind raced. He had faced countless dangers, from the flames of ancient beasts to the corruption of the Nulls, but never had he felt so helpless. This was not a battle he could fight through sheer strength. The power devouring him was not a physical attack but a law that denied existence itself.

Just when Max's body was on the verge of completely dissolving into streams of scattered energy, a sudden force burst through the red mist like a flash of light. The oppressive devouring energy that had surrounded him trembled as a new presence tore through it.

Before Max could even react, he felt something grab hold of him—a firm yet gentle grip that anchored him to reality. It was Blob.

Blob's figure appeared beside him, his form shimmering with a radiant spiritual light that cut through the crimson haze. Without wasting a single moment, Blob extended his hand and wrapped Max in a wave of spirit energy.

In the next instant, their surroundings blurred. The devouring pressure that had nearly crushed Max disappeared as Blob's power enveloped them both.

A sharp sound filled the air.

SWISH!

The two figures shot upward like streaks of light, breaking free from the suffocating dark red cloud. The world around them warped and spun as they ascended through the thick layers of mist until they finally emerged into the open sky above.

The crimson hue of the heavens spread endlessly above them, but the pressure that had nearly torn Max apart was gone. Blob released his grip only when he was certain they had escaped the devouring field.
