Chapter 1389 Coming to Terms

Chapter 1389  Coming to Terms

After considering Max's conditions for a moment, Clan Head Raven of the Dark Phoenix Clan and Clan Head Jeremy of the Heavenly Kirin Clan exchanged a brief look before arriving at a joint decision. The tension in the hall eased slightly as it became clear that they were prepared to make a counterproposal rather than reject his demands outright.

"We can accept your first condition and provide you with resources sufficient to push your cultivation all the way to the peak of the Rebirth Realm," Clan Head Jeremy said slowly, his tone measured and deliberate. "However, regarding your second condition, we have a proposition of our own."

"I am listening," Max replied with a smile, his posture relaxed as though he had already anticipated this turn of events.

Clan Head Jeremy returned the smile and continued, his eyes gleaming with calculation. "Your second condition, the one in which you demand the inheritance techniques of our two clans, can only be fulfilled if you manage to become the champion of the Tri Clan Tournament, which will be held one year from now."

He paused briefly before adding with a faint smirk, "Furthermore, both of these conditions will only come into effect if you succeed in defeating the two candidates we send today. If you lose even one of those two battles, then your sword will be sealed away permanently and all of your conditions will be rendered invalid."

Max found their proposal acceptable, yet there was one detail he needed clarified before giving his answer. "What exactly is the Tri Clan Tournament?" he asked, his curiosity evident despite his calm demeanor.

"I almost forgot that you are a mortal who only joined us a few months ago," Clan Head Jeremy said as he shook his head and let out a light laugh. "The Tri Clan Tournament is a competition held between the inner disciples of our three clans, and its purpose is to determine the ten strongest among them. Those who place within the top ten are rewarded generously and are granted the opportunity to enter the Divine Essence Cultivation Pool, a place to which only our three clans have access."

He continued with a more serious expression, "That cultivation pool is one of the most valuable assets shared by our three clans, which is why only the geniuses who rank within the top ten of the Tri Clan Tournament are allowed to enter it. If you wish to obtain the inheritance techniques of our two clans, then you will not only have to participate, but you will have to win the entire tournament and stand above all others."

"I see," Max said as he nodded in understanding, his expression thoughtful as he absorbed the implications of what he had just heard. In his mind, he quickly organized the information, realizing that it was indeed a competition among the three clans and that only by winning that tournament would he gain the right to cultivate their inheritance techniques.

After pondering the matter for a brief moment, he lifted his head and spoke with firm resolve. "Alright, I hereby accept your proposition."

"Good," Clan Head Jeremy said with a satisfied smile before turning his gaze toward Matthew Grimes. "Shall we begin the battles now?"

Matthew returned the smile, his eyes shining with anticipation. "Let us get this started."

With all parties in agreement, the members of the three clans moved toward the edge of the arena, forming distinct groups as they took their positions to observe the coming clash.

The vast space soon felt heavy with anticipation, and as the crowd settled, only one figure remained standing at the center of the arena, and that figure was Max.

"I will send my candidate first," Clan Head Jeremy said to Clan Head Raven, his expression solemn and serious. "Although the chances of him losing are slim, if he does lose to Max, then you already know who should be sent next."

"I know," Clan Head Raven replied with a faint smile as her gaze shifted toward a young woman standing quietly beside her. There was not the slightest trace of worry on her face, because she had no doubt that Max would eventually fall to their arrangement.

For Max to continue wielding that sword, he would have to win both of his battles, whereas for them to seal his sword away forever, they only needed to claim victory in a single match. In Clan Head Raven's mind, the outcome had already been decided the moment she chose that young woman as one of their candidates.

"Send out your first candidate," Matthew said at that moment, directing his words toward the two clan heads with a calm yet authoritative tone.

Clan Head Jeremy smiled and nodded. "Jonathan, you go."

"Leave it to me," Jonathan replied confidently. He was a dark red haired man who appeared to be in his late thirties, though his true age was certainly measured in centuries rather than years. With steady steps, he entered the arena and came to a stop before Max, standing opposite him as the two faced each other in silence, the atmosphere between them growing increasingly tense.

"I am Jonathan," Jonathan said with a confident smile as he introduced himself, his posture relaxed yet filled with restrained power as his gaze settled on Max.

"Max," Max replied simply, returning the introduction with the same calm demeanor, his expression betraying neither arrogance nor fear as he faced his opponent.

"I will be overseeing this battle and the one that follows," Lady Virelia announced as she descended and hovered in the air between them, her presence immediately imposing and authoritative. The moment her eyes swept across the arena, she spoke a single word with unmistakable finality. "Start."

The instant her command echoed, Max moved. Activating the Extreme Speed from the Storm King's Inheritance, his figure vanished in a crackle of red lightning, transforming into a blazing streak as he appeared directly before Jonathan in the blink of an eye.

Without hesitation, Max unleashed the Absolute Reaper inheritance, and a sphere of raging black flames erupted around Jonathan, swallowing him completely before he could make a single move.
