Chapter 1443 Legendary 12th Layer!

Chapter 1443  Legendary 12th Layer!

"Could Zain or Isabella cross the twelfth layer?" a deep voice suddenly asked, breaking the tense silence that had settled over the viewing platform. The one who spoke was Victor Veron, head of the Veron Family. His sharp eyes were fixed on the towering projection of the Path to Eternal Flames, where Zain and Isabella continued their advance through the upper layers.

The question caused several elders to exchange glances.

"Cross the twelfth layer?" Henry Lumin, head of the Lumin Family, immediately rejected the thought, his tone firm and unquestioning. "That should be impossible. Even though I wish for Isabella to surpass the twelfth layer mark, we all know this is beyond reach."

His expression was serious. There was no mockery in his voice, only a recognition of long established limits.

Matthew Grimes slowly nodded in agreement. "Even the Saintess who once had full control of the Imperial Bloodline in the past could not cross the twelfth layer," he said steadily. "How could a saintess in training accomplish what her predecessor failed to do? And as for Zain, no matter how outstanding he is, his potential is still lower than that of a fully awakened Saintess."

He paused briefly before continuing, his gaze never leaving the screens. "From what we have observed over countless years, the eleventh layer has always been the absolute limit for the most exceptional disciples. I do not think they can even reach the twelfth layer, let alone cross it. A cultivator in the Rebirth Realm simply cannot surpass the twelfth layer threshold. That fact has remained unchanged since the Path to Eternal Flames was created by our ancestor."

His words carried weight, and none among the Seven Family heads refuted them.

Over the centuries, this trial had been conducted numerous times. It had witnessed the rise of extraordinary talents, monstrous geniuses, and once in a generation prodigies. Yet the result had always been the same. No outer disciple within the Rebirth Realm had ever crossed the twelfth layer hurdle. Not a single one.

Even the legendary Saintess who once possessed perfect control over the Imperial Bloodline had reached the twelfth layer only to be forced into retreat. Her bloodline had burned brilliantly, her authority overwhelming, yet the path had not yielded.

The best results throughout history were consistently within the tenth layer. When especially powerful geniuses appeared, someone might step into the eleventh layer, shocking the clan and leaving their names etched in memory.

There had even been a few rare individuals who entered the twelfth layer itself, but none had ever crossed beyond it. Every one of those individuals later became ancestor level figures, beings whose names commanded reverence even within the vast Divine Realm.

Such was the importance of the twelfth layer.

It was not merely another stage on the path. It was a boundary. It was a dividing line that separated a genius from something that defied ordinary definition. To step into it already signified heaven defying talent. To cross it would mean breaking a law that had stood firm since the founding of the trial itself.

On the projection screens, Zain continued advancing through the tenth layer, his aura blazing fiercely. Isabella's figure shone within the ninth layer, her Imperial Bloodline radiating with steady authority.

The family heads watched with solemn expressions.

Crossing the twelfth layer was not simply a matter of talent.

It was a matter of rewriting history.

"Who knows, Zain might be the first to do it," Garry Heron said at that moment, a confident smile spreading across his face as he folded his hands behind his back and stared at the projection showing Zain's figure blazing within the upper layers.

His voice was casual, yet it carried unmistakable conviction.

The moment the words left his mouth, several elders and even the other family heads turned toward him. Their expressions varied from surprise to faint amusement, yet none of them showed the slightest hint of agreement. The atmosphere shifted subtly, as if everyone had expected such a statement from him sooner or later.

Garry Heron, head of the Heron Family, was well known among the Seven Families for one particular trait. He favored the disciples of his own lineage to an almost excessive degree. In his eyes, the talents of the Heron Family always shone brighter than the rest.

Even when evidence suggested otherwise, he would find a way to elevate his own family's standing by disgracing other families' descendants. Because of this long standing habit, the other family heads rarely took his proclamations seriously whenever they concerned the Heron disciples.

Beyond that, Garry was also known for his unyielding temperament. When he desired something, he pursued it without hesitation, sometimes pushing matters to uncomfortable extremes.

His persistence had secured many advantages for the Heron Family over the years, yet it had also strained relationships with the other clans. More than once, his forceful methods had caused friction within the alliance of the Seven Families.

"Garry, at least say something believable," Lilith Carol, head of the Carol Family, remarked with a gentle laugh, though the amusement in her eyes was clear. Her tone was not hostile, yet it carried a faint teasing edge. "Even you should know what the twelfth layer represents."

A few elders around her chuckled quietly, their gazes returning to the massive floating screens that displayed the progress of the disciples.

Garry snorted softly in response, clearly unconvinced by their skepticism. "Humph. We will see."

He did not argue further. Instead, he fixed his eyes firmly on Zain's figure, as though willing him forward through sheer expectation alone. There was no trace of doubt in his expression.

The other family heads merely exchanged small smiles before turning their attention back to the trial. In their minds, Garry's words were nothing more than another instance of his usual overconfidence.

Yet despite their outward dismissal, a small flicker of anticipation lingered within the depths of their gazes.

After all, if someone truly did cross the twelfth layer, the balance among the Seven Families would never remain the same.
