Chapter 1568 Let go?!

Chapter 1568  Let go?!

Arriving at the crater where Mira had fallen, Max looked down and saw her lying at the center, her body battered and her aura weakened. She was clearly exhausted, her strength nearly depleted after the brutal exchange.

Without hesitation, Max stepped into the crater and reached her.

Moments later, he emerged once again.

He held Mira by the neck with one hand, lifting her effortlessly as though she weighed nothing. Her body hung in the air, her movements sluggish as she struggled to gather what little strength remained.

The sight left everyone stunned.

None of them had expected the outcome to turn out this way. From the beginning, they had believed Mira would overwhelm Max, yet now it was Max who stood victorious, holding her in his grasp.

"Let go of me!" Mira shouted, forcing out her voice despite her weakened state.

"Let go of you?" Max repeated, his tone completely devoid of emotion. "If our positions were reversed, you would not have hesitated for even a moment to break my neck. And now you expect mercy?"

"Release the Young Miss!"

At that moment, the members of the Sword God Palace rushed forward and surrounded Max, their expressions filled with fury.

"How dare you treat her like this? Let her go immediately!"

One of them stepped forward, his voice filled with rage. "You fool, release her at once or we will kill your companions!"

At the same time, several members of the Sword God Palace moved toward Lucia and Isabella, their swords raised as they pointed their blades directly at them, ready to strike at any moment.

Seeing this, Max did not react with panic.

Instead, he spoke calmly.

"What companions?"

The moment those words left his mouth, both Lucia and Isabella vanished from where they stood.

They disappeared completely.

The sudden change shocked everyone present. Even Luna and Tamara could not hide their surprise, as they failed to understand how the two had vanished without leaving behind even the slightest trace.

Max turned his gaze back to Mira.

"Look at yourself," he said coldly. "You wanted to kill me for that sword, and now you stand at my mercy. How quickly things change."

As he spoke, his grip tightened slightly.

Mira's body convulsed as the pressure on her neck increased, making it difficult for her to breathe or even speak.

The members of the Sword God Palace grew visibly tense.

None of them dared to move forward. They understood that any sudden action could provoke Max into killing her instantly, and so they could only stand there, watching helplessly.

"Max," Tamara's voice sounded at that moment, cold and steady. "If I were you, I would release her."

Max turned his head slightly to look at her.

"She is the daughter of the Palace Master of the Sword God Palace," Tamara continued. "You understand what that means. If you kill her, the entire Sword God Palace will descend upon your Black Dragon Clan. Even if they eliminate you first, they will not stop until everything connected to you is destroyed."

Max met her gaze without the slightest change in expression.

"What if I refuse?" he asked calmly. "I clearly saw that you had the ability to stop this fight before it even began, yet you chose not to act. And now you expect me to stop?"

Tamara's expression darkened.

It was the first time someone weaker than her had questioned her actions so directly, and the defiance in Max's tone made the atmosphere grow even heavier.

"You need to stop," Tamara said coldly, her voice carrying an unmistakable authority. "If you refuse, then I will be forced to take action myself."

"Oh, will you?" Max replied calmly as he looked at her. "Then answer me this. If I release her now, do you truly believe she will simply return to the Sword God Palace and forget everything that happened here? No. She is not foolish enough to let this go. She will gather her forces and come for revenge against the Black Dragon Clan."

His gaze remained steady as he continued. "She was ready to kill me over a sword alone. Just imagine what she would do for revenge."

Tamara frowned as she listened, because she knew he was not wrong.

No matter how this ended, the Black Dragon Clan would not escape unscathed. The only outcome where they remained safe would have been if Mira had killed Max and reclaimed the Sword Sovereign's sword herself, and that possibility had already been erased.

Max then turned his attention back to Mira. His left hand ignited with black flames, the dark fire flickering with a dangerous intent.

"What are you planning to do?" Tamara asked, her expression tightening. Although the War God Palace and the Sword God Palace were rivals, she had known Mira since childhood, and she could not simply stand by and watch her die.

"Max, please let her go," Luna added, her voice no longer firm but filled with urgency.

"It is already too late for that, Luna," Max said calmly as he glanced at her. "But you can relax. I have no intention of killing her."

As those words left his mouth, he placed his flame covered hand on Mira's head.

A piercing scream erupted instantly.

"AAAHHH!"

Mira's entire body trembled as the black flames began to burn her. Unlike ordinary fire, these flames carried a deeper torment, as though they were consuming not just the body but something far more fundamental.

"What are you doing?" Tamara shouted as she moved forward, her figure appearing before Max in an instant.

Max turned his head toward her, his expression unchanged. "If you take even one more step, I might lose control of these flames. If that happens, the outcome may not be something you are willing to accept. So it would be better for you to stay where you are."

Tamara's movements halted.

"You… you monster," she said, her voice trembling slightly as she looked at him.

What unsettled her the most was not just what he was doing, but the way he was doing it. His eyes were empty, devoid of any trace of emotion, as though he were looking at nothing at all. There was no anger, no satisfaction, no cruelty in his expression, only an unsettling stillness.

At that moment, regret surfaced within her.

If she had intervened earlier and stopped Mira, none of this would have happened.
