Chapter 1569 Saint Token
Chapter 1569 Saint Token
Mira's screams continued without pause as the black flames burned relentlessly. Max watched her quietly, yet there was no reaction within him. He did not feel satisfaction at her suffering. He did not feel anger toward her actions. He did not feel anything at all.
There was only silence within him.
This was the true nature of the path Max had begun to walk.
The cosmic path of the Severing Sword was not merely about cutting through enemies or destroying obstacles. At its core, it was the path of severing everything that bound a person, including their own emotions.
Max had stepped onto that path.
Emotion Severing.
If he could truly sever his emotions, then nothing in this world would be beyond his reach. Fear would no longer restrain him. Pain would no longer weaken him. Attachment would no longer cloud his judgment. In such a state, there would be nothing he could not cut down, whether it was an enemy, a concept, or even something as intangible as fate itself.
Even now, as the path remained incomplete, its influence was already terrifying.
The calm within him was unnatural. It was absolute. It was empty.
And the power that stemmed from that emptiness was chillingly strong.
After watching Mira scream for several minutes, Max slowly lost interest. Without any change in expression, he released his grip and tossed her body toward the members of the Sword God Palace. As he did so, the cold stillness in his eyes faded, and he gradually stepped out of that emotionless state.
"Do not worry," Max said calmly as he looked at Tamara and Luna, who both appeared tense and concerned. "She is not dead."
Tamara's expression remained cold as she met his gaze. "You will regret what you have done."
"Regret?" Max let out a faint smile. "Then tell me how this should have ended. Should I have simply allowed Mira to kill me?"
His smile deepened slightly. "If we follow your logic, my death would have been the most acceptable outcome, would it not?"
He shook his head lightly and reached into his dimensional space, taking out a token. He held it up before them. "Do you know what this is?"
The moment Tamara saw it, her eyes widened in shock. "That is… a Saint Token of the War God Palace. How do you possess something like that?"
Max looked at her calmly. "Then you must also know what it represents."
Tamara's expression turned serious as she answered, "Whoever holds a Saint Token speaks with the authority of the Saint it belongs to. Their words carry the will of that Saint."
"Good," Max said with a faint smile. "Then listen carefully. With this Saint Token, I order you to do everything in your power to protect the Black Dragon Clan if the Sword God Palace launches an attack against them."
"What?" Luna and Tamara both reacted at once, unable to hide their shock.
Max looked at them with a composed expression. "Is there a problem? Or has the Saint Token lost its meaning within the War God Palace?"
"No," Tamara replied after a brief pause, her voice firm but heavy. "If you hold the Saint Token, then your command must be honored. We will carry out what you have said. However, I want to know one thing. Which Saint does this token belong to?"
"Saint Reiner," Max answered calmly. "If I remember correctly, his name is Saint Reiner."
The moment those words were spoken, both Luna and Tamara were visibly shaken.
"Saint Reiner?" they repeated almost at the same time.
Among the many Saints of the War God Palace, Saint Reiner stood at the very peak. Only a handful of others could be mentioned in the same breath as him. His authority and influence were immense, far beyond that of an ordinary Saint.
Tamara found it difficult to comprehend how Max had come into possession of such a token, let alone one that belonged to someone of Saint Reiner's standing.
Yet none of that mattered now.
The order had been given, and she was bound to follow it.
At that moment, a trace of regret surfaced in her heart. If she had intervened earlier and stopped Mira from attacking Max, the outcome might have been entirely different. She could have formed a connection with him, and through him, with Saint Reiner himself.
Instead, she had allowed the situation to escalate.
And now, she had come dangerously close to turning him into an enemy.
"I hope you understand the weight of that Saint Token and treat it with the seriousness it deserves," Max said calmly as he looked at Luna and Tamara, preparing to leave.
Just as he was about to depart, Tamara spoke again, her tone carrying a rare trace of concern. "Be careful of Edwin from the Sword God Palace. His strength is on par with mine, and he should also be within this secret domain. If my judgment is correct, he has likely already reached the center."
Her expression grew more serious as she continued. "Edwin is one of the most formidable geniuses of the Sword God Palace. Once he learns what you have done to Mira, he will not hesitate. He will come for your life. You must remain cautious when facing him."
Max listened quietly before giving a slight nod. "I will keep that in mind."
With those words, his figure vanished from sight, disappearing from the scene without leaving a trace.
A brief silence followed.
"Well, that was quite an interesting spectacle," a voice sounded out as Ash finally stepped forward with the members of the Ascension Hall.
He glanced at Tamara with a faint smile. "Who would have expected things to turn out like this? I imagine Miss Mira will not take this lightly once she regains consciousness."
He paused before adding thoughtfully, "Although, in truth, it may not matter much. If the Sword God Palace could not deal with him even here within this domain, then I doubt they will have an easy time dealing with him outside either."
Ash was not a member of the War God Palace, yet he understood the significance of a Saint Token. Everyone within the Divine Realm knew what it represented. Anyone who held such a token carried the backing of a Saint, and that protection alone was enough to deter even powerful forces.
In his eyes, Max would remain safe once he left Orion.
Tamara remained silent for a moment as she listened, her thoughts unsettled.
Finally, she spoke to her group in a steady voice. "We are leaving. The battle has already caused too much disturbance. If we stay any longer, we will draw the attention of the devils."
With that command, her group began to withdraw, leaving the battlefield behind.
