Chapter 1735: Leaving Starfall Haven!

Chapter 1735: Leaving Starfall Haven!

Nancy looked toward the distant western side of Starfall Haven, where the city gates stood beneath a curtain of pale light.

“We have to pass through another neutral zone first,” she said. “After that, we will reach the outer path leading toward Witch God Valley.”

Max nodded slightly.

“I see.”

His gaze shifted toward the exit of Starfall Haven.

For a moment, his expression remained calm, but the coldness in his eyes deepened. He had not forgotten Munro. He had not forgotten Karo either.

Karo had died once inside the arena, but he was not truly gone, and Max knew very well that a demon like him would not quietly accept such humiliation.

As for Munro, Max had already decided to settle that matter before leaving the city. If both of them were waiting near the exit, then it would actually save him the trouble of searching for them later.

“Anyway,” Max said, his voice calm, “let us go and take care of Karo and Munro first.”

Nancy’s eyes moved slightly.

“You think they will be waiting for you?”

Max smiled faintly as he continued walking toward the western exit.

“If I am not wrong, they should already be waiting near the exit of Starfall Haven.”

Nancy looked at him in silence for a moment.

She could not tell whether Max was being reckless or simply confident, but after seeing him destroy Karo’s Abyssal Grave of the Fallen with a single fist, she knew his confidence was not baseless. Still, she could not help reminding him, “Starfall Haven is a neutral zone. They cannot attack you inside the city, but the moment you step outside, the rules will no longer protect anyone.”

Max’s smile became colder.

“That is exactly why they will wait there.”

Nancy’s expression turned solemn.

The streets around them were quiet, but a few participants still recognized Max as he passed. Some humans stopped and stared with wide eyes. Several demons quickly lowered their gazes or moved aside.

A few elves looked at Nancy with surprise, as if they could not understand why she was walking beside the same human who had killed her not long ago. Max ignored all of them and continued toward the exit, his steps steady, his expression relaxed, and his killing intent hidden so deeply that only someone standing close to him could sense how dangerous he truly was at that moment.

Nancy walked beside him and said, “Munro may not be alone. If Karo has already revived and left the Combat Hall, he might have gathered other demons.”

“Good,” Max replied.

Nancy turned to him.

Max’s eyes remained fixed on the distant gate.

“If they gather more people,” he said softly, “then I will not have to hunt them one by one.”

Nancy fell silent.

For a brief moment, she remembered the scene of Karo’s Pseudo Cosmic Path shattering under Max’s fist, and she suddenly felt that the ones waiting outside the city might not understand what kind of monster they were preparing to ambush.

The western exit of Starfall Haven grew closer.

Beyond the gate, the peaceful silver light of the city gave way to a darker horizon, where the distant sands of the Eternal Hourglass shimmered like a golden sea under a strange sky. The path leading out was wide and empty, yet Max could already feel several hidden auras lingering beyond the boundary of the neutral zone.

A faint smile appeared on his face.

“So they really are there.”

Nancy’s eyes sharpened as she also sensed the presences waiting outside.

“How many?”

Max did not answer immediately.

He walked forward until he stood only a short distance from the city’s exit, where the invisible protection of Starfall Haven ended and the outside world began. Then he raised his gaze toward the shadows beyond the gate, his voice calm but filled with cold certainty.

“Enough to make this quick.”

With those words, Max stepped toward the exit, and the peaceful rules of Starfall Haven remained behind him.

In no time, Max stepped outside the city gates.

The moment he crossed the boundary of Starfall Haven, the strange peaceful pressure that had restrained all killing intent and violent energy inside the neutral city faded from around his body like an invisible chain being removed.

The air beyond the gate was completely different from the calm atmosphere inside the city. It was heavier, colder, and filled with the faint scent of blood, sand, and demonic energy.

Behind him, the silver-white radiance of Starfall Haven still glowed softly, while ahead of him stretched the darker road leading toward the Eternal Hourglass, where golden sands shifted beneath the distant sky like a restless ocean.

Max did not stop immediately.

He continued walking forward for some distance, as if he had not sensed anything unusual at all.

Nancy followed beside him, but her expression had already turned solemn. She could feel it now. The hidden auras surrounding the area were not few. They were everywhere, concealed behind rocks, shadows, broken ruins, and folds of demonic mist.

The moment they moved far enough from the protection of Starfall Haven, those auras began to stir like predators waiting for prey to step into the center of their trap.

Then, all at once, the world around them changed.

Boom!

Dark demonic energy erupted from every direction.

Thousands of demons appeared out of nowhere, rising from the ground, stepping out from behind distorted shadows, descending from the air, and emerging from clouds of black mist as if an entire army had been lying in wait outside the city gates.

Their bodies were different in size and shape. Some were enormous, with horns curling toward the sky and weapons resting on their shoulders. Some were lean and sharp-eyed, their claws dripping with poison. Some wore black armor covered in demonic runes, while others carried blades, spears, axes, chains, and strange bone weapons that released thick killing intent.

In only a few breaths, Max and Nancy were completely surrounded.

The road behind them was sealed.

The path ahead was blocked.

The empty land on both sides became filled with demons.

Their numbers were so great that the area outside Starfall Haven looked as if it had been swallowed by a demonic tide, and the combined pressure of thousands of hostile auras caused the ground itself to tremble faintly.

Some participants still inside the city gate noticed the sudden movement and quickly stopped to watch from a safe distance, their faces changing when they saw the size of the ambush waiting outside.
