Chapter 1836: A Good Battle
Chapter 1836: A Good Battle
Two beams of light descended at the same time.
Ervin appeared on one side of the central stage with his black spear resting lightly in his hand, his posture relaxed and his expression calm. He did not look excited, nervous, or arrogant. He simply stood there like a shadow beneath deep water, quiet enough to seem harmless at first glance, yet deep enough to make anyone with true perception feel uneasy.
Selene Vaeloria appeared opposite him.
Her white-gold hair fell behind her like a river of light, and her eyes carried the cold pride of the Divine Daughter of the second elven faction. Even after losing to Max near the Witch God Tree, she had not lost her confidence completely.
She was still Selene Vaeloria. She was still one of the most carefully raised geniuses of the second faction. Her Heavenly Luminance Royal Bloodline was pure, her foundation was terrifying, and her Pseudo Cosmic Path had already proven strong enough to force countless participants to lower their heads.
The moment she stepped onto the stage, the aura around her brightened.
Ervin looked at her quietly.
Selene also studied him for a few breaths.
"I know you are strong," she said coldly. "But I am not Morgana, and I am not one of those people you can defeat with one hidden spear thrust."
Ervin smiled faintly. "Good. Then this battle might be worth fighting."
Selene’s eyes narrowed.
Angelina Valerius raised her hand.
[Battle Begins.]
Selene attacked first.
Golden-white light burst from her body, forming dozens of radiant swords in the air. Each sword carried a trace of Heavenly Luminance power, sharp, pure, and oppressive. With a slight movement of her fingers, all the swords shot toward Ervin from different angles.
Ervin stepped forward.
His spear moved.
It was only a simple thrust, yet the spear tip seemed to pass through the gaps between the incoming radiant swords with impossible precision. One thrust broke three swords. A turn of the shaft deflected five more. A sweep of the spear scattered a dozen beams of light before they could reach him.
Selene’s expression did not change.
She raised her hand again.
"Luminance Sword Rain."
Hundreds of radiant swords appeared above the stage, far denser and more powerful than the first wave. They fell like a divine storm, covering every possible path of movement around Ervin. The attack was fast enough to make several participants narrow their eyes.
Ervin did not retreat.
He rotated his spear once, and dark energy spread from the spearhead in a thin circle.
The first wave of swords struck the circle and bent away slightly. The second wave pressed harder, forcing Ervin to finally move his feet. His body flickered through the sword rain, not with speed like Max’s Vein of Speed, nor with spatial distortion like Kaiden’s void movement, but with a strange sense of depth, as if he was stepping into shadows between moments.
He passed through the sword rain and arrived ten meters closer to Selene.
Selene’s eyes sharpened.
"Solar Luminance Palm."
A giant golden palm condensed in front of her and struck forward with majestic force. The palm carried heat, light, and suppressive pressure together, making the air tremble as it descended toward Ervin.
Ervin raised his spear with one hand.
A dark point appeared at the tip.
Then he thrust.
The spear tip pierced into the center of the golden palm. For a moment, the palm and spear stood in a deadlock. Then the darkness at the spear tip began spreading through the palm like ink dissolving inside clear water. The golden light dimmed from the center outward, and the entire palm collapsed before reaching him.
A murmur spread across the pillars.
"What kind of spear force is that?"
"It is not simple darkness."
"It devoured part of Selene’s luminance power."
Selene finally took one step forward.
The light behind her rose higher.
"Heavenly Wheel of Radiant Execution."
A massive golden wheel appeared above her, its edges covered in countless sharp rays of light. The wheel began rotating, and the sound of its movement filled the arena like divine law grinding against the world. Radiant pressure descended upon Ervin, trying to lock his body in place.
Ervin’s expression became slightly more serious.
The Heavenly Wheel shot forward.
He raised his spear horizontally and blocked.
Boom!
The impact forced him backward for the first time.
His feet slid across the stage, leaving two long marks on the dark-gold stone. The heavenly wheel pressed against his spear, spinning violently as sparks of golden light and dark energy exploded between them.
Selene’s eyes brightened.
She clenched her hand.
The heavenly wheel split into six smaller wheels, each one attacking Ervin from a different direction. This time, Ervin could no longer block them all with simple spear movement. His body blurred, his spear flickered, and several dark spear shadows appeared around him. The six wheels clashed with those spear shadows again and again, forcing him to retreat step by step.
On the pillars, Aurelian Lareth watched with a calm expression.
"She has improved her control," he said softly.
Max also watched carefully.
Selene was indeed strong. She had not used her Pseudo Cosmic Path yet, but her ordinary techniques were already enough to suppress most geniuses among the final twenty-five. If Ervin were an ordinary spear user, he would have already been cut apart by the heavenly wheels.
However, Ervin was not ordinary.
His spear suddenly changed.
The dark spear shadows around him stopped defending and turned into one straight line.
Ervin stepped forward instead of retreating.
His spear pierced through the gap between two wheels, then curved strangely and struck the inner edge of the third. The balance between the six heavenly wheels broke at once. The six wheels collided with each other in midair and exploded into golden fragments.
Selene’s gaze became colder.
"So you were waiting for the rhythm."
Ervin smiled faintly. "Your attacks are strong, but they still have structure."
Selene’s expression sank.
Behind her, a majestic female figure of divine radiance began to appear.
The pressure around the stage increased.
"Heavenly Luminance Queen Avatar."
The radiant avatar rose behind Selene, noble and overwhelming, with a crown of light above its head and a spear of pure luminance in its hand. The moment it appeared, Selene’s aura rose sharply. The golden-white light around her became far more solid, and the pressure of her bloodline spread across the stage like a divine decree.
