Chapter 1860: A Quick Battle!
Chapter 1860: A Quick Battle!
Inside the Eternal Hourglass, Max stood on his pillar and stared at the screen. His expression did not shift, but the air around him grew slightly colder. Aurelian, the Divine Son of the second faction, was the one who carried the stolen Heavenly Luminance Divine Bloodline.
Max had already witnessed the Heavenly Luminance Divine Dominion during Aurelian’s battle against Morgana, but he knew perfectly well that Aurelian had not shown everything.
Someone raised as the Divine Son of the second faction could not possibly possess only that much, and this battle against Damian might finally drag more of it into the open.
Aurelian turned his head slightly and looked toward Max. For one brief moment their gazes met, and a faint smile touched Aurelian’s face. It was calm, arrogant, and cold.
Max did not smile back.
Then Damian Voss opened his eyes fully. He looked at Aurelian, and the sword intent around him grew faintly sharper. He did not raise his voice, and he showed neither anger nor excitement.
He simply stood there like a sword still resting in its sheath, quiet enough for fools to overlook and sharp enough to make true experts sense danger before the blade was ever drawn.
Aurelian looked away from Max and turned his gaze toward Damian. "So my opponent is you," he said calmly.
Damian’s expression did not change. "Yes."
Aurelian smiled faintly. "The Sword God Palace has been very quiet in this final stage."
Damian replied, "A sword does not need to make noise before cutting."
The words were spoken calmly, yet the arena tensed in an instant.
Rakan Thorne grinned from his pillar. "Good. This one should be fun too."
Orion Starfall, still recovering under the laws of the Eternal Hourglass, forced his eyes partway open and smiled weakly when he saw the pairing. "Of course. I faint for one moment, and another good battle starts."
Morgana Starveil looked between Damian and Aurelian with shining eyes. "This will be dangerous."
Kaiden Voidmere said softly, "Sword authority against divine light authority."
Ervin’s gaze deepened. "No, it is more than that. Damian has not revealed his path yet."
Revona, still pale from her fight with Orion, opened her eyes and regarded the stage with rare seriousness. Even after her exhausting battle, this match was important enough to hold her attention.
Angelina Valerius looked down at the two named participants.
"Damian Voss."
Her gaze shifted.
"Aurelian Lareth."
The transfer lights began gathering above their pillars.
"Enter the stage."
Two beams of light descended, one carrying a silent sword sharpness and the other carrying a golden-white divine radiance. The next great battle of the final competitive stage was about to begin.
The two beams faded from the central stage. Damian Voss stood on one side with his sword still sheathed, his posture calm and his eyes deep. He released no violent aura and made no attempt to smother the stage with sword intent the moment he landed, yet the space around him felt unnaturally keen, as though the air itself were being quietly divided into invisible lines.
Aurelian Lareth stood opposite him with golden-white radiance flowing around his body like a sacred cloak. Compared to Damian’s silence, Aurelian’s presence was far more majestic.
His pale golden hair drifted behind him, his eyes shone with divine light, and every breath he drew carried the oppressive dignity of the second elven faction’s Divine Son. The Heavenly Luminance Divine Bloodline within him had already begun to stir, and to Max, that light still felt unpleasantly familiar.
Angelina Valerius looked down at the two of them.
[Battle Begins.]
The moment those words appeared, Damian moved. He announced no technique and made no show of raising his sword slowly. His hand simply brushed the hilt, and a thin sword light flashed into being between him and Aurelian.
Aurelian’s eyes narrowed.
"Heavenly Luminance, Sacred Mirror Guard."
A golden-white mirror of light formed before his body, and the sword light struck it.
Crack!
The mirror split apart instantly, but before its broken fragments could scatter, Aurelian had already raised his hand. Thousands of golden spears materialized above him and shot toward Damian like divine punishment descending from the heavens.
"Heavenly Luminance, Sacred Spear Rain."
Damian stepped forward, and his sword left its sheath.
"Silent Sword Art, First Cut, Parting Wind."
A single horizontal slash swept across the stage. It did not look grand at first glance, but the moment it met the descending spears, all the golden-white light in front of Damian was cleaved into two clean halves. The sword light passed through the spear rain without slowing, splitting hundreds of radiant spears before fading near Aurelian’s position.
Aurelian raised one finger.
"Heavenly Luminance, Sunwheel Descent."
A golden sunwheel appeared above his head and descended with burning divine pressure. Its edges spun like a sacred blade, and the light pouring from it carried a purifying heat intense enough to set the arena barrier glowing.
Damian’s expression did not waver. He stepped sideways with a movement so small that many spectators barely registered it, and then his sword rose.
"Sword God Palace, Falling Peak Sword."
The slash descended from above like a mountain forged from sword intent, and the Falling Peak Sword collided with the Sunwheel Descent.
Boom!
The central stage shook violently as golden light and sword force detonated together. Aurelian was the first to move through the explosion, his body wrapped in a layer of radiant armor.
"Heavenly Luminance Battle Form, Divine Step."
His speed spiked sharply. In an instant he appeared before Damian and struck with a palm brimming with golden-white power.
"Heavenly Luminance, Sacred Palm Seal."
Damian turned his sword and blocked with the flat of the blade. The palm struck the steel, and a dull explosion rolled outward. Damian slid back half a step while Aurelian’s radiant palm seared a burning mark into the air, and before Damian could fully counter, Aurelian’s other hand had already shaped a spear of light and thrust it toward his chest.
"Heavenly Luminance, Piercing Dawn Spear."
Damian shifted his body and let the spear slide past his ribs by a hair’s width, and in the same motion his sword swept upward toward Aurelian’s wrist.
"Silent Sword Art, Second Cut, Returning Thread."
Aurelian snatched his hand back instantly, but the sword light still grazed his sleeve and sliced through the golden-white defensive layer covering his arm.
The spectators burst into excitement at once.
"So fast!"
"They are opening directly with high-level moves!"
"Damian’s sword is too precise!"
"Aurelian is keeping up in close combat too!"
