Chapter 1957: Bloodline Legacy Battle Begins!

The central battlefield finished lighting up.

Ancient runes spread across the vast arena floor one after another, forming a web of golden, crimson, purple, green, silver, and black light.

Each color linked faintly to one of the powers gathered there, but the whole formation ultimately pointed toward the towering statue of the First Progenitor standing at one end of the arena.

The statue’s closed eyes stayed silent, yet once the runes fully woke up, the entire arena felt like it had come under that ancient ancestor’s watch.

The noise from the four sacred clan platforms slowly faded. Valerius, Ashbourne, Ravenhart, and Evercrest all turned their attention to the central battlefield.

Even the abandoned sixth end of the arena seemed darker and quieter than before, sitting apart from the other five like a forgotten wound in this grand sacred place.

Then space shimmered above the battlefield. A woman stepped out.

She wore a white-gold robe marked with the Valerius insignia, and her long golden hair fell behind her like flowing sunlight. Her face was beautiful, dignified, and familiar. The moment Max saw her, his eyes shifted slightly.

Angelina Valerius.

She had presided over the Cosmic Ascension Conference. Back then, she’d stood above the Eternal Hourglass as the announcer and judge, calmly watching the greatest geniuses of the Divine Realm clash one after another. Now she’d appeared here again, not as a representative of the conference, but as a member of the Valerius Clan, one of the Four Sacred Clans.

The moment Angelina arrived, many younger members of the Four Sacred Clans straightened up instinctively. Her status was clearly not low.

She descended slowly toward the center of the battlefield, her robe moving gently despite the absence of wind. The white-gold light around her wasn’t oppressive, but it carried a natural authority that made people listen.

When her feet touched the arena floor, the surrounding runes brightened once before settling back down.

Angelina looked around the whole arena. Her gaze passed over the Valerius platform, the Ashbourne platform, the Ravenhart platform, the Evercrest platform, the statue of the First Progenitor, and finally the lower challenger areas where Rose and Max stood.

For a brief instant, her eyes lingered on Max. A faint smile crossed her lips. Then she looked away and spoke.

"Descendants of Valerius, Ashbourne, Ravenhart, and Evercrest. Representatives chosen by bloodline claimants. Elders and witnesses of the Four Sacred Clans. Today, the Bloodline Legacy Battle begins."

Her voice was clear, steady, and carried through every corner of the arena. The already solemn atmosphere grew heavier.

"This battle is held under the authority of the First Progenitor’s legacy and witnessed by the Four Sacred Clans. Every descendant who seeks legacy merit, every representative who fights on behalf of a claimant, and every challenger who steps onto this battlefield must accept the ancient rules of the Bloodline Legacy Battle."

Angelina raised one hand. A massive circular projection appeared above the battlefield, showing the rules laid out through ancient script.

"The rules are simple." Her gaze swept over everyone. "Anyone may challenge anyone."

The arena stirred. Even though many people already knew the rules, hearing them announced officially still sent a wave of tension through the crowd.

Angelina continued, "There are no fixed brackets, no arranged order, and no protection from being challenged because of reputation, bloodline, clan, or status. If you stand as a participant in the Bloodline Legacy Battle, you may challenge another participant, and another participant may challenge you."

Her voice sharpened slightly. "If the challenged party refuses without a valid reason recognized by the battle formation, they’ll lose legacy merit and face a penalty based on their claim level. If they accept, both sides enter combat under the protection of the arena laws."

She then pointed toward the First Progenitor statue.

"The battle continues until no one dares challenge the standing victor, or until one participant remains undefeated after all others have either lost, withdrawn, or refused to continue."

The projection above the arena shifted, showing a single figure standing beneath the statue while everyone else stood below.

"That person will become the winner of the Bloodline Legacy Battle."

The arena went silent. It was a brutal rule, simple, direct, and merciless. There was no hiding behind brackets, no dodging powerful opponents through luck, and no waiting for others to eliminate the dangerous ones. Anyone who wanted merit had to fight.

Anyone who wanted to prove themselves had to step forward. Anyone who wanted the final victory had to stand where everyone could challenge them and still come out undefeated.

Rose quietly clenched her hands. This rule was exactly why the Bloodline Legacy Battle was so hard for someone like her.

A castaway descendant could only rely on a representative, and that representative had to be strong enough not just to win one battle, but to keep standing as stronger and stronger enemies kept showing up.

Max, on the other hand, smiled faintly. This kind of rule suited him.

Angelina lowered her hand.

"The use of killing techniques is allowed, but deliberate killing after victory has already been decided is forbidden. The arena formation will suppress fatal intent only after one side has lost the ability to continue or has admitted defeat. Before that point, every participant has to protect themselves with their own strength."

Several young geniuses narrowed their eyes. This meant the battles would be dangerous, not staged sparring or symbolic exchanges. Real battles.

Angelina’s gaze swept across the participant areas.

"The Bloodline Legacy Battle now begins."

The moment those words fell, the whole arena erupted. The crowd from the Four Sacred Clans released a wave of noise that rolled across the battlefield like thunder. Clan descendants started looking at one another.

Representatives straightened their backs. Several powerful auras rose from the waiting zones, each one carrying challenge, pride, and killing intent. Plenty of people had already picked their targets before the battle even started.

But before anyone else could move, Max stepped forward. He didn’t say anything at first. He just walked towards the arena.
