Chapter 1990: A Week of Time!
Chapter 1990: A Week of Time!
"So, everyone is here," Max said as his gaze moved across the hall.
The others had already gathered inside the wide chamber, and even Aurelian had appeared among them. His presence made Max’s eyes pause for a brief moment, but he did not say anything about it. The atmosphere in the hall was already strange enough without him adding more tension.
Orion leaned back against the wall and grinned the moment he saw Max. "You sure took your sweet time getting here."
Max smiled a little awkwardly. "I was in seclusion. I did not even know I had been summoned."
"It is good that you still arrived in time," Rosaline said, her expression unusually solemn.
Max nodded to her, then looked around the hall once more. Aside from the top geniuses, he did not see any Primordials present. There were no elders, no envoys, and no guards standing nearby. When he glanced behind him, he also noticed that Sarvion had already disappeared without a sound.
"Does anyone know what this summons is about?" Max asked, his curiosity growing.
Damian frowned. "No one has told us anything. We have already been waiting here for a full day, yet no one has appeared to explain the situation."
"A whole day?" Max’s frown deepened when he heard that.
Ervin crossed his arms and spoke in a calm voice. "From what we were told, we were supposed to wait for only a few hours while some preparation was being arranged for us."
The group exchanged glances after hearing that, and the uneasiness in the hall became even heavier.
Morgana let out a light sneer. "I think this is nonsense. The Primordials are clearly trying to hide something from us. It is suspicious enough that they summoned us here without explanation, but making us wait this long without showing themselves makes it even more suspicious."
Revona, who had been quietly leaning against a wall until now, finally opened her eyes and spoke. "You are all too impatient. Calm down and wait as instructed. What is the hurry?"
Kaiden, standing beside her, nodded. "I think Revona is right. Let us wait a few more hours before anyone does anything foolish."
"Fine, we will wait," Max said with a shrug.
He walked to a corner of the hall and sat down against the wall. The Primordials had summoned the ten of them, but they had not even prepared chairs or tables for them.
That small detail made the situation feel even stranger, as though the summons had been issued in a hurry or the Primordials simply had no intention of making them comfortable.
Another day passed like that.
By then, even Revona and Ervin, who were usually far calmer than the others, had begun to show signs of impatience.
Then, without warning, a massive rumble tore through the hall.
The entire chamber shook.
Orion instantly sprang to his feet, his grin vanishing as he entered a defensive stance. "What was that?"
Another rumble followed almost immediately, louder and deeper than the first.
Max stood up as well, his expression turning serious. "Is that a battle?"
Rakan’s eyes widened slightly. "Who would dare attack the Primordials?"
Damian’s face turned cold. "Devils?"
A third rumble echoed across the Primordial Ancestral Domain, and this time, the walls themselves trembled as if the impact had come from somewhere close.
Ervin had already started moving toward the exit. "Let us go see what is happening."
Damian followed him without hesitation.
"Let us go," Max said as his aura stirred, and he flew out with them.
Revona, Morgana, Kaiden, Orion, Rakan, Rosaline, Aurelian, and the others followed soon after. None of them knew what was happening outside, but all of them understood one thing clearly. If someone had truly attacked the Primordial Race inside their own ancestral domain, then the situation was far more serious than a delayed summons.
When they arrived outside the Primordial Ancestral Domain, they saw two groups facing each other across the sky.
On one side stood the Primordials.
At their front were the four Primarchs, their auras vast and terrifying even while restrained. Behind them stood many other powerful Primordials, each one carrying a pressure far beyond what ordinary Divine Realm experts could release.
On the other side stood a group of beings that looked somewhat similar to demons, yet were clearly not ordinary demons.
Their bodies were taller and more muscular than most demons, and strange tattoos covered them from head to toe. Those tattoos resembled Infernal Demon Tattoos, but they were more ancient, more savage, and far more oppressive. The markings seemed to grow from the two glowing horns on top of their heads, spreading downward across their faces, necks, chests, arms, and legs like living brands of destruction.
Max’s eyes narrowed.
They were devils.
The one standing at the front of the devils was not an old warlord covered in scars, nor was he a brutish monster releasing endless killing intent. Instead, he looked young. His face was handsome in a cruel and vicious way, and his body was wrapped in a calm confidence that made him seem even more dangerous than the devils behind him.
"So, what will it be?" the young devil asked, his voice carrying clearly across the sky. "A war that wipes out your entire universe, or will you meet our demands?"
The Primordials became quiet after hearing him.
They were not truly silent, however. Max could feel faint fluctuations of divine transmission passing between the four Primarchs and the other high-ranking Primordials. Clearly, they were discussing the matter privately while keeping their expressions calm on the surface.
After a moment, one of the four Primarchs stepped forward.
"Varok," he said in a steady voice, "we need some time to consider this matter. How about this? We will hold a meeting one week from today, and we will discuss your terms then. What do you say?"
Varok, the young devil, sneered.
He did not answer immediately. Instead, his gaze moved across the faces of the Primordials one by one, as if he was memorizing their expressions.
"You Primordials are always like this," he said. "Stalling for time again and again. Last time, the war ended peacefully because of an unforeseen variable, but I am quite sure this time will not end the same way."
His sneer deepened.
"Anyway, take your time if you want. Just do not think one week will change anything. If it even matters at all."
The moment he finished speaking, the space around the devils twisted.
Then all of them vanished.
The sky fell silent.
