Chapter 2008: Max’s Exposing the Hole in the Agreement!

Varok’s voice turned icy. "You want to accept my condition while tying my hands and feet."

Arvantos replied calmly, "You want to enter our Divine Realm while expecting us to trust the Devil Race. Neither side gets everything it wants."

Varok stared at him. Arvantos stared back. For a long moment, the entire council domain hung frozen between war and compromise.

Neither side was willing to fully back down. Varok refused to drop his demand to establish a devil force in the Divine Realm.

The Primordials and the leaders of the Divine Realm refused to accept any agreement that handed the devils unrestricted freedom. Both sides knew the flaws in the other’s position, and both sides knew starting a war right now would be dangerous.

The devils had too few people inside the universe to win a direct war at this point. The Divine Realm couldn’t kill Varok casually because of Abaddon and the Pearl of Abyss. That balance forced both sides to keep talking.

The argument dragged on for a long time. Conditions got added, rejected, altered, and narrowed down.

The devils demanded independence. The Divine Realm demanded restrictions. The devils demanded freedom of movement. The Divine Realm demanded registration.

The devils demanded no suppression. The Divine Realm demanded the right to retaliate if harm was done. The devils refused to take responsibility for devils beyond the universe. The Divine Realm refused to offer them complete protection inside it.

In the end, both sides compromised. The devils would be allowed to establish a force in the Divine Realm, but only within a designated star region chosen by the Primordials and approved by the major forces.

Their members would be registered. Their movements would be monitored in limited ways. They’d be forbidden from entering the Mortal Realm, building secret passages, committing slaughter, spreading forced corruption, enslaving cultivators, or interfering with existing forces through hidden means.

If they broke these conditions, the Divine Realm would have the right to kill the offenders. If the violation was severe enough, the whole agreement would be considered broken.

Varok’s expression stayed dark after the terms were settled, but a faint smile still crept onto his lips.

Max noticed it. So did Revona. So did several of the older leaders. No matter how many restrictions had been piled on them, the devils had still won something important.

They’d gained a foothold. For the first time since the ancient war, the Devil Race would be allowed to build a force inside the Divine Realm, inside another universe.

Even watched, even restricted, even surrounded by conditions from the Divine Realm’s leaders, the result stayed the same. The devils had entered their universe. And now they’d be allowed to stay.

Varok looked down at the council domain and smiled faintly. "Good. Let this be the start of a more peaceful relationship between our races."

No one believed him.

The meeting had avoided immediate war. But deep down, everyone knew this wasn’t peace. It was only the first move of something far more dangerous.

Just as Varok’s faint smile appeared, Max stepped forward from among the ten geniuses. The movement wasn’t big, but in that suffocating council domain, it pulled countless gazes toward him at once.

The leaders of the Divine Realm looked over. The Four Sacred Clans narrowed their eyes. The devils behind Varok stared at him with cold amusement, while the other nine geniuses showed different reactions.

Orion’s eyes widened slightly, Damian turned serious, Ervin frowned like he’d guessed something coming, and Revona’s gaze sharpened with rare interest.

Max stopped beneath the floating star map and looked up at Varok.

"Your agreement has a flaw," he said.

The council domain went silent.

Varok slowly lowered his gaze, his dark red eyes fixing on Max. A faint sneer crossed his face. "And who are you supposed to be?"

Max didn’t flinch. "Someone who can see the hole in your words."

Several devils immediately let their killing intent loose. The pressure came down toward Max like a black tide, but before the Primarchs or any of the leaders could react, Max’s middle eye opened between his brows. A pure golden flame appeared inside it.

Primordial Flames.

The black killing intent closing in on him burned away silently before it ever touched his body. It didn’t scatter. It got refined into nothing with a calm purity that made several devils’ expressions shift.

Even Varok’s eyes narrowed.

The four Primarchs glanced at Max at the same time. Arvantos’s expression stayed calm, but a faint light passed through his eyes.

Max looked directly at Varok and continued, "You said the devils under your banner in this universe will follow the agreement, but you also said you can’t control devils beyond this universe. That means any devil can act outside your so-called authority, attack our geniuses in neutral spaces, corrupt our people beyond the Wall of Eternity, and then claim they were never your responsibility."

Varok’s smile faded slightly.

Max’s voice turned colder. "That’s not a loophole. That’s a prepared escape route."

The expressions of many leaders shifted. High Lord Astren Vale of the Nine Star Court looked at Max with a trace of approval. Grand Marshal Seraphis Kael crossed his arms, his cold eyes fixed on Varok. The Sword God Palace Master, Celian Voss, gave a faint nod, while Garron Aresvale of the War God Palace laughed under his breath.

Varok stared at Max and sneered. "You talk boldly for someone standing behind his elders."

Max smiled faintly. "You talk boldly for someone hiding behind his father’s name and a Primal Treasure."

The sky turned cold. The devils behind Varok nearly erupted on the spot.

Varok’s face went completely dark. "Human, do you want to die?"

Max immediately took a defensive stance. This time, the aura around him changed. Ten blue void rings appeared around his body, rotating from his wrists to his shoulders, each carrying a different kind of pressure.

One held a pale invisible sharpness that made emotions tremble. One flickered with seven-colored lightning. One burned with black devouring flames. One released the pure golden heat of Primordial Flames. The remaining rings carried folded space, light, ice, soul force, dragon aura, and deep Voidwalker sealing power.

Max couldn’t be sure when a devil would sneak attack him and so even though he was standing with leaders of the Divine Realm, he was still cautious.

For the first time, the devils looked at Max seriously.

Varok’s gaze locked onto the void rings. "What are you?"

Max answered calmly, "The person who’ll kill your people if they cross the line."
