Chapter 2009: Max’s One Condition!
Chapter 2009: Max’s One Condition!
The council domain went deadly silent.
The four sacred ancestors looked at Max with complicated expressions. They’d seen him fight. They’d seen him awaken the fifth end. They’d seen him break through to the Law Manifestation Realm and shake the Five Sacred Clan domain.
But now, standing in front of Varok and speaking on behalf of the Divine Realm’s younger generation, Max no longer looked like a reckless genius who’d stumbled into ancient secrets.
He looked like someone stepping into his role.
Arvantos watched him for a moment, then spoke. "Continue."
That single word shocked a lot of people. A Primarch had just given Max permission to speak at this meeting.
Varok’s eyes turned colder.
Max looked around at the gathered leaders, then turned back to Varok. "The Divine Realm should add another condition. Any devil force established here must accept a blood-oath boundary. If a devil outside this universe harms a recognized genius, envoy, or protected representative of our universe under orders from Varok, Abaddon, or any devil faction connected to the force established here, the agreement will be considered broken."
Varok sneered. "And how will you prove orders were given?"
Max replied, "Through soul traces, bloodline residue, contract marks, memory inspection, fate calculation, and testimony from neutral forces if the incident happens beyond the Wall of Eternity."
The Nine Star Court’s High Lord Astren Vale smiled faintly. "That’s doable."
The Ravenhart ancestor narrowed her eyes. "Difficult, but doable."
Lord Vael Noxis of the Grand Void Sanctum said from within the folded darkness, "If the devil force established here leaves a registered authority mark on its members, connection traces can be tracked."
Hall Master Orin Caldus of Ascension Hall nodded. "Ascension Hall can record the recognized geniuses and envoys. Anyone under official protection will have their status sealed into the agreement."
Varok’s face darkened further.
Max continued, "There’s another condition too."
Arvantos looked at him with interest.
Varok’s voice turned icy. "You’re adding a lot of conditions for someone still at the Law Manifestation Realm."
Max ignored the jab. "The Divine Realm should form an enforcement team made up of the ten new Primordial geniuses and representatives from the top first-rate forces. If devils break the agreement in places where elders can’t act openly, this team will have the right to investigate, suppress, and kill the offenders."
The ten geniuses reacted at once. Orion’s eyes widened before a grin slowly spread across his face. Damian’s expression sharpened. Ervin looked surprised, then thoughtful. Morgana’s lips curled with interest.
Kaiden glanced at Revona, while Revona looked at Max like she was seeing him in a new light. Rosaline, Rakan, and Aurelian all turned serious.
The War God Palace Master laughed loudly. "Good. Very good. Since the devils want to plant a force in our Divine Realm, our younger generation should have a blade pointed at their throats too."
Queen Selene Lunaris spoke gently. "It would also stop the devils from blaming every conflict on overbearing elders."
Celian Voss said calmly, "If their younger devils can move freely around the Divine Realm, our young geniuses should be able to respond in kind."
Varok’s eyes burned with anger. "You want to build a hunting group for my people and call it enforcement?"
Max looked at him calmly. "You want to build a devil force in our universe and call it peace."
For a moment, no one spoke. Then Garron Aresvale laughed again, his battle intent shaking the air. "I like this kid."
Arvantos looked toward the other three Primarchs.
Eryndor nodded. "The proposal has merit."
Lysandra’s eyes moved across the devils. "It also gives the younger generation real experience before the greater war arrives."
Veyrion said quietly, "And it puts pressure on the devil force without forcing immediate conflict."
Arvantos turned back to Varok. "This condition will be added. The ten new Primordial geniuses along with the geniuses from the Four Sacred Clan will form the core of a special enforcement group. They won’t attack devils without reason, but if your people violate the agreement, they’ll have the authority to act."
Varok’s expression turned ugly. The devils behind him glared at Max with undisguised killing intent.
Max didn’t look away. He knew this move would make him a target, but he didn’t care. The devils had already entered their universe. If they were allowed to move around freely while everyone politely waited for disaster to strike, the Divine Realm would only be giving them time to spread their roots.
Someone needed to watch them. Someone needed to act without getting held back by the older generation’s hesitation. And if there was one thing Max was good at, it was turning danger into growth.
Varok stared at him for a long time. Then his lips slowly curved again, though this time the smile carried real malice.
"Fine," he said. "Add your little enforcement group."
His gaze stayed locked on Max. "But remember this, human. Once you take on a role like that, you’re no longer just a genius standing behind the Primordials. You become part of the game."
Max smiled faintly. "I was already part of it the moment your people entered our universe."
Varok’s eyes flashed.
Arvantos raised his hand, and the newly added terms sealed themselves into the agreement through a massive golden law scroll that appeared above the council domain. One by one, the conditions lit up across its surface.
The devil force would be restricted to a designated star region. Their members would be registered. They were forbidden from entering the Mortal Realm. They couldn’t build hidden passages. They couldn’t enslave, corrupt, or slaughter people of the Divine Realm. They couldn’t secretly control local forces.
Any violation would allow retaliation. Any confirmed connection to attacks on official geniuses or envoys beyond the universe would also count as a breach.
And finally, the special enforcement group would be formed, with Max and the other nine new Primordial geniuses at its core.
The moment that final condition appeared, many gazes turned toward Max. The leaders of the Divine Realm now saw him differently.
The Four Sacred Clans looked at him with even more complicated emotions. The other geniuses realized their own role had shifted from future hope to active blade. And the devils committed his face to memory.
Varok finally looked away from Max and placed his palm against the golden law scroll. The Pearl of Abyss flickered faintly beneath his sleeve, letting out a dark pulse.
Arvantos placed his palm against the scroll too.
The agreement was sealed.
The devils had won the right to build a force inside the Divine Realm. But because of Max, they hadn’t gotten a free path to spread without consequences.
Then one of the devils standing beside Varok suddenly leaned in and whispered something into his ear.
"I see," Varok sneered as he looked at Max again. "No wonder you’re so confident talking to me. Turns out you’re the strongest young genius in this universe."
He added, "But has the Primordial Universe fallen so far that its strongest genius is only at the 1st level of the Law Manifestation Realm? I haven’t heard anything this funny in a while."
