Chapter 2011: A Life and Death battle!
Chapter 2011: A Life and Death battle!
That decision stirred up the atmosphere again. Some leaders looked thoughtful. Some frowned. Some looked worried, while others looked interested. The War God Palace Master’s smile widened, since he’d always preferred direct clashes over endless talk. The Sword God Palace Master stayed calm, but the sword intent around him sharpened slightly.
The Four Sacred Clans watched Max with complicated expressions. After everything that had happened in their domain, they knew well enough that Max’s realm couldn’t be measured normally.
On top of that, they’d personally watched Max beat one of their own geniuses at the 10th level of the Law Manifestation Realm, let alone a devil sitting at the 5th.
Saint Reiner, though, stayed silent, his eyes fixed on Max. He’d spoken to provoke the devils, but Varok had instantly turned his words into a challenge aimed straight at Max. Saint Reiner knew Max wouldn’t back down just because his opponent held a higher realm. He also knew Max’s pride wasn’t the kind that could be easily reined in.
Still, if the fight turned too dangerous, Saint Reiner was ready to step in. No agreement between the Divine Realm and the Devil Race mattered more than Max’s life.
Max still hadn’t said anything.
Varok looked down at him, his expression now dripping with open provocation.
"So, Primordial?" His voice slowed down, turning mocking. "Are you ready to fight a devil at the 5th level of the Law Manifestation Realm?"
The devils behind Varok grinned coldly. One of them stepped forward. He stood taller than Varok, his massive body covered in dark crimson tattoos. His horns curved backward like blades, and black fire flickered around his shoulders.
His aura clearly sat at the 5th level of the Law Manifestation Realm, but the pressure he gave off ran far stronger than an ordinary cultivator at that level. His body carried the brutal strength of the Devil Race, and his eyes gleamed with bloodthirsty excitement.
He looked at Max like he’d already found his prey.
"A Primordial at the 1st level?" the devil said with a deep laugh. "Young master, you’re honoring him too much by sending me."
Varok chuckled. "Don’t underestimate him too much. Apparently he’s the strongest young genius of this universe."
The devil’s laughter grew louder.
Several Divine Realm geniuses showed their anger openly.
Orion clenched his fists. "This bastard."
Damian’s face turned colder. "He’s trying to use Max to humiliate all of us."
Ervin sneered lightly. "Let him try. Now that Max has reached the Law Manifestation Realm, I have a feeling he’s gotten even harder to gauge right now. We’re about to see a good show."
Only Revona looked at Max with a solemn expression. Nobody knew exactly what was going through her mind.
Max stood at the center of the temporary battlefield with Dragonheart in hand.
Across from him, Raghor, the devil chosen by Varok, grinned with savage confidence. His massive body was covered in dark crimson devil tattoos, and black flames flickered around his shoulders like a cloak of living malice.
He sat at the 5th level of the Law Manifestation Realm, four minor realms above Max, and as a member of the Devil Race, his true combat power naturally outpaced ordinary cultivators at the same level.
To most people, this should have been a hard fight. To Varok, it should have been a humiliation set up for the Divine Realm.
But Max looked calm. Too calm.
Raghor noticed that calm, and his grin slowly turned cruel. "Still looking confident, huh. Good. I hate killing prey that trembles too early."
Max looked at him without much feeling.
"I’ll accept this fight," Max said slowly. "But it has to be a life-and-death battle. Otherwise, I’m not interested in entertaining a bunch of stupid devils."
The moment those words fell, the council domain went silent.
Varok was stunned for a brief moment. Then his eyes narrowed. He couldn’t tell whether the Primordial boy in front of him was a peerless genius or a complete idiot.
A 1st level Law Manifestation Realm cultivator was actually asking for a life-and-death battle against a devil at the 5th level of the same realm. Even among the Devil Race, that kind of arrogance would be considered absurd unless someone had absolute confidence behind it.
The leaders of the top first-rate forces were surprised too. They already knew Max wasn’t simple. They’d heard about his performance, his breakthrough, and the shocking events inside the Five Sacred Clan domain. Some had personally felt the strange pressure hidden in his body.
Even so, asking for a life-and-death battle under these circumstances still went beyond what they’d expected.
Saint Reiner’s eyes turned colder. He didn’t stop Max, but the war intent around him sharpened faintly.
Max didn’t look back. His gaze stayed on Varok. "So, what’ll it be, Varok?"
Varok stared at him for a second. Then he laughed.
"Hahaha!"
His laughter spread through the council domain, dripping with contempt and amusement.
"I’ve seen arrogant fools before, but I’ve never seen an idiot quite like you. Since you’re so eager to die, I suppose I have no reason to refuse."
He turned to Raghor. "Go ahead and kill him."
Raghor’s grin widened. "My pleasure, young master."
The massive devil rolled his shoulders as he looked at Max with utter disdain. The devil tattoos across his body began to glow, and dark energy surged around him like smoke rising off a battlefield soaked in blood.
"Dying in front of all these Primordials and leaders of your universe must be pretty embarrassing, don’t you think?" Raghor said with a deep laugh.
His devil aura erupted. The battlefield beneath his feet trembled, and the black flames around him roared higher. His law manifestation started forming behind him, taking shape as a vast devil furnace filled with charred bones, screaming shadows, and burning crimson chains.
The pressure it released turned several weaker descendants of the Divine Realm pale.
Max smiled faintly at the sight.
"What morons you devils are...."
Before Raghor’s expression could even change, a blue void ring flashed out from Max’s body. It moved too fast. The ring didn’t travel like a normal attack. It folded through space, appeared in front of Raghor almost instantly, and wrapped around his body before his devil aura could fully erupt.
Raghor’s eyes went wide. "What?"
The void ring expanded. A blue transparent sphere formed around him in an instant. The devil furnace behind him froze. The black flames around his body froze. Even the crimson tattoos glowing across his skin dimmed, as if the connection between his body and the world around him had been cut off.
Raghor tried to move, but his limbs didn’t respond. He tried to circulate his devil power, but the energy inside him turned sluggish. He tried to roar, but even his voice got trapped in his throat.
He’d been sealed. Not restrained. Not slowed. Sealed. His entire body hung suspended in midair, frozen in a separate layer of space.
The expressions of the devils changed. Varok’s smile stiffened.
Before anyone could react, Max moved. His figure vanished from where he stood and reappeared directly in front of Raghor. His right hand transformed mid-motion, pale human fingers turning into terrifying dragon claws covered in black scales.
The claws carried the brutal strength of the Black Dragon Chaotic Bloodline, the sharpness of his Law Manifestation Realm foundation, and the condensed force of a body strengthened well beyond ordinary limits.
Raghor’s eyes trembled with horror. He still couldn’t move.
