Chapter 2041: Anna!
Chapter 2041: Anna!
The Primordials led him through the entrance. The moment Max entered the mansion, a female Primordial walked toward him with a polite smile.
She looked young, though Max knew age could be deceiving in a place like this. Her hair was pale gold, her eyes clear and bright, and faint primordial patterns flowed across her skin like thin streams of light.
Her aura felt gentle, but not weak. Compared to the cold tension outside, she gave off a steadier and more welcoming presence.
"Hello," she said. "You must be new to the Godslayer’s Pilgrimage. My name is Anna."
Max nodded slightly. "I am new. Arrived not long ago."
Anna looked at him carefully. "And your name?"
"Max Voidwalker."
The moment he said his name, Anna’s brows moved slightly.
"Max Voidwalker."
She seemed to find the surname strange, or maybe familiar in a way she couldn’t immediately place. But she didn’t ask about it. After only a brief pause, her gaze shifted to his cultivation, and her expression turned more concerned.
"How were you allowed to enter the Godslayer’s Pilgrimage with this level of cultivation?"
Max shrugged slightly. He truly didn’t know how to answer that.
Anna sighed and pressed her fingers against her forehead, like she’d suddenly gotten a headache. "How did the elders, even the Primarchs, agree to send someone at the Law Manifestation Realm into this place?"
Max stayed silent.
Anna looked at him for another moment, then shook her head. "Anyway, since you’re already here, there are a few things you need to know."
Her tone turned more serious. "Bloodstone City is only one of many cities in the outer layer. Every major outer-layer city has bases belonging to the five races, so you’ll find people from the Primordial Universe, Devil Universe, Spirit Universe, Angel Universe, and Dragon Universe scattered throughout the Godslayer’s Pilgrimage. Some cities are more balanced. Some are dominated by one race. Some are technically neutral, but everyone knows which faction actually holds the most influence there."
Max listened quietly.
Anna pointed toward his wrist. "I’m guessing you already know something about the marks?"
Max glanced at the bronze symbol on his skin. "I’ve heard some information."
"That’s good," Anna said. "At least you’re not completely blind."
Then her expression turned stern. "But do you understand how dangerous this place is for someone like you?"
Max looked at her without answering.
Anna continued, "You’re at the Law Manifestation Realm. Out in the wider world, that might already be enough to make countless cultivators admire you, especially with high talent. But in the Godslayer’s Pilgrimage, this cultivation is dangerously low. The outer layer is packed with Divine Lord Realm geniuses. A lot of them have been here for years, and some have survived countless battles, trials, ambushes, and beast territories."
Her voice grew heavier. "The inner layer is even worse. That place is full of Divine King Realm geniuses. The strongest among them are monsters who can fight across realms, crush ordinary Divine Kings, and compete for opportunities people in the outer layer can only dream about."
Max’s eyes narrowed slightly.
Anna looked at him directly. "With your current cultivation, almost everyone who sees you will assume you’re easy prey. Devils will target you. Dragon Race members might challenge you. Angel Race cultivators might dismiss you outright. Even people from our own universe might wonder if you’re carrying some special treasure that let you in despite being so weak in cultivation."
She sighed again. "Honestly, I’m surprised you made it from the spawning area to Bloodstone City in one piece."
Max ignored that last part, but Anna’s words gave him a much clearer picture of the overall power level in the Godslayer’s Pilgrimage.
The outer layer was dominated by Divine Lord Realm geniuses. The inner layer was dominated by Divine King Realm geniuses. And he was only at the 1st level of the Law Manifestation Realm.
No wonder so many people had looked at him strangely when he entered Bloodstone City. From their perspective, his presence here was abnormal. Even among top geniuses, entering this place at his realm had to be extremely rare.
After a moment, Max asked, "How long have you been here?"
Anna smiled faintly. "Around three years, I think."
"Three years?" Max’s eyes showed a trace of surprise. "And you still haven’t entered the inner layer?"
Anna stared at him for a moment. Then she laughed softly, not mockingly, but like his question was something only a true newcomer would ask.
"You really think entering the inner layer is that easy?"
Max didn’t answer.
Anna shook her head and said, "I won’t get into every detail right now, but you should understand one thing. Out of every thousand participants in the outer layer, maybe only ten have a real shot at entering the inner layer."
Max’s expression finally changed. "Only ten out of a thousand?"
Anna nodded. "That’s already a generous estimate. Plenty of people spend years here and still fail to meet the conditions. Some die trying. Some give up and stay in the outer layer, using their marks just for survival and cultivation resources. Some keep taking on trials until their foundations collapse or their luck runs out."
Max’s gaze deepened. Only around one percent had a real chance. That number reshaped his understanding of the Godslayer’s Pilgrimage all over again. He’d already known the inner layer wouldn’t be easy to enter, but he hadn’t expected the gap to run this severe.
The outer layer wasn’t simply a beginner region everyone eventually moved past. It was a filtering ground. It swallowed the weak, trapped the ordinary, and let only a tiny number of truly capable geniuses pass through.
Anna looked at him seriously. "That’s why I said you need to be careful. Surviving the outer layer’s already hard. Leaving it is much harder."
Max stayed silent for a moment. Then he looked toward the deeper part of the mansion. "I understand."
His voice came out calm, but his eyes had sharpened.
The Godslayer’s Pilgrimage was far more dangerous than he’d expected.
Max thought for a moment before asking, "Has anyone else from my batch arrived in this city?"
Anna looked at him. "You mean the new Primordials who entered with you?"
Max nodded. "Yes."
"There are two," Anna replied. "One’s from the Sword God Palace. His name’s Damian. The other’s Miss Revona."
Max’s eyes moved slightly. Damian and Revona had also landed near Bloodstone City.
"As for the rest," Anna continued, "they must’ve shown up near other cities in the outer layer. The Godslayer’s Pilgrimage doesn’t send everyone to the same place. Even people who enter through the same entrance can end up scattered across different regions."
