Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 3864 Heavenly Blight Hall's Higher Echelon

Chapter 3864 Heavenly Blight Hall's Higher Echelon

"My name is Cyprusio. I am the intermittent leader of the Heavenly Blight Hall in the Lower Realms, and we have been watching you for quite some time now. We believe that you possess a power that could be of great use to us in our mission."

The white-robed man named himself Cyprusio and spoke formally.

His gentle voice, combined with his languid smile, told Davis that he was in absolute control of the situation. The other party wasn't one bit scared of him, an Anarchic Divergent and rightfully so because Cyprusio could be a Peak-Level Autarch and he wouldn't know it.

He was sure that the two assassins reported his trump card that stole Rokushi Mirai's treasure, so for the other party to still feel confident, it spoke volumes about his strength or was plainly stupid, of which Davis believed it was the former, or else this power wouldn't have lasted long for one or two million years.

"Mission…" Davis uttered with some amusement.

"Is ridding all of Heaven's Warriors our mission? That seems unlikely, even if you're the strongest person in the world."

"The Divine Emperor of Death's wisdom is far reaching."

Cyprusio nodded, "We do not seek to kill all Heaven's Warriors but to harass them into forgetting or ignoring the call of the heavens. After all, in the end, we are all humans with desires, the most selfish creatures in the universe. Killing them is nothing but a means to an end."

"That also seems like an insurmountable task, but better than killing all Heaven's Warriors, I guess."

Davis waved his hand, "So, what am I to this organization? An important person? A pawn?"

"I've been told that you wanted to meet someone with authority personally, so here I am. This should allow you to understand that you're an important person to us. We are here to help you in your journey and aid your growth so that you may help our cause in the future."

Cyprusio smiled and added, "It is not only you. We treat almost all Divergents similarly. Anyone who can help our cause and survive alone is a treasure that we're willing to protect. Your reputation precedes you, and your achievements speak for themselves. We are willing to grant you immense authority as long as you prove to be a valuable asset to us."

"A test?" Davis raised his brows before nodding, "Fair enough. What do I need to do?"

"This should not be hard considering you seized the treasure from our recruit Rokushi Mirai and displayed a ridiculous surge of energy unbefitting of your cultivation base in the flying ship: we want you to eliminate Clara, the young female Heaven's Warrior who possesses a ridiculous heavenly physique as the Transcendent Truth Eyes. As long as she and the others with similar physiques live, our mission will never come to fruition. We can't allow her to grow."

"…"

Cyprusio's lips curled, while Davis remained expressionless.

Many scenarios swelled in his head, each one more dangerous than the last if he were to open up about Clara. He could make things awkward, dubious, or hostile with the Heavenly Blight Hall, but as a result, his friends would be the ones most likely to die.

However, the two surviving assassins would've already informed Cyprusio that he had been accompanying Clara and another Heaven's Warrior in disguise. They would suspect his motives and relation to her and that Autarch, so they likely had questions that they would like to ask but refrained from doing so out of respect or benefits.

Then again, what good are questions when they can ask him to end her and be done with it? He would also prove himself to be a valuable asset, hitting two birds with one stone.

"You're not a Divergent, are you?

Davis raised his brows.

"Correct." Cyprusio smiled, "I am not a Divergent. Most of the members aren't. However, you need not worry, as my prowess is real and my authority is influential. You would be surprised to know who I am, but at this point, I'd rather not reveal my true identity."

"That's understandable. If I weren't already known through infamy, even I would want to hide my identity."

Davis chuckled and shrugged, "So if most members are not Divergents, who are the Divergents? Do they hold good positions within the Heavenly Blight Hall?"

"Absolutely~"

Cyprusio smiled brightly as his voice turned sonorous, "This is information that would soon be public if we could enter the fray successfully. Regardless, you have the right to know as you're an Anarchic Divergent, someone whom our leader, also an Anarchic Divergent, looks fondly upon."

"…"

"Other than our leader, there are four Divergents, each one strong enough to compare with the likes of Realm Masters even without being bound to a realm. They're all Autarchs and are called the Four Dark Apostles, the so-called evil beings who bring destruction to the land and calamity to the skies. They possess immense authority within the Heavenly Blight Hall, allowing them to command all lower ranking and higher ranking members and sometimes even me. If everything goes well, then you, the Divine Emperor of Death, will eventually become the Fifth Dark Apostle."

"…"

Davis folded his hands and raised one to stroke his chin, appearing amused by the fantasy Cyprusio conjured.

"The Fifth Dark Apostle doesn't sound bad."

"Indeed. I would love to become one myself, but it's a pity that I'm not a Divergent."

"Shall I make you one?"

"…!"

Davis reached out his hand, looking smug, which absolutely snuffed out the smile from Cyprusio. The latter looked shocked before Davis brought his hand back and stretched his body.

"Just kidding. I may be able to give you some blood from a magical beast that has some divergence and change your destiny, but you and she will never become true Divergents unless there's a significant change to your lives. Utmost, you'll be Passive Divergents which would be cleared upon crossing your tribulations in good faith."

Davis chuckled while pointing at Rokushi Mirai, who was way behind, as he explained.

She didn't participate in their conversation, but she fully listened to them speak. She didn't complain about her treasure being stolen either, remaining silent like a corpse, her expression utterly indifferent.

"I'm thankful that you would consider helping me fulfill one of my wishes, but searching for a magical beast of divergence at this stage is nearly impossible."

Cyprusio wryly smiled.

He looked at Rokushi Mirai with a bit of envy as he smiled before returning his gaze to Davis.

"Alright. I have explained to you the conditions for becoming one of us. Eliminate Clara, the young female Heaven's Warrior, and you'll be on your first step to becoming the Fifth Dark Apostle. We'll also help you rescue your friends if that's what you came here to do."

"I would be grateful for having such help."

Davis raised his hands, cupping his fists, but shrugged as he spread his hands.

"There is one problem, though." he added suddenly.

"What is it? Say it, and we will do our best to resolve your problems."

Cyprusio said it with some gusto.

"Although Clara is a Heaven's Warrior, she is also my younger sister."

"…!"

"…"

Davis looked at their faces, which surged with shock.

It seems like they really didn't know.

Mingzhi's misinformation campaign truly worked wonders because people were hard pressed to differentiate truth from falsehood and vice versa. Even with similar features, they couldn't relate him to Clara.

After all, one was a Heaven's Warrior, and the other was an Anarchic Divergent.

Even in their dreams, they wouldn't think the duo were siblings without substantial evidence.

"Indeed." Davis's smile left as his expression turned solemn, "Her true name is Clara Loret, the younger sister of the Divine Emperor of Death, Davis Loret. I need her alive rather than dead, so it would be in your Heavenly Blight Hall's best interests to stay away from her. Whether she dies or lives is up to me. If you insist on assassinating her, feel free to do so, and I will act as I please, perhaps even becoming a thorn in the Heavenly Blight Hall's internal organs."

He flicked his sleeves as he turned around, walking away as he showed his back.

It made Cyprusio and the other assassins with him look at him with cold eyes.

That was a blatant provocation to the Heavenly Blight Hall. However, they didn't appear to say anything or make a move, still staring at his back as he headed to the accommodation they prepared for him.

Rokushi Mirai also gazed at him, her eyes containing some emotion of astonishment.

She didn't expect him to have a little sister who was a Heaven's Warrior of the highest order. This didn't make any sense to her as she had never heard of two opposite being born from the same womb.

It made her wonder who his mother or his father was.

"Dark Archbishop, what should we do?"

An assassin beside him went on one knee and asked for instructions through soul transmission, "We have already made some preparations to assassinate Clara even if the Divine Emperor of Death disagreed to the test. However, we never expected him to tell us to stay away from her. Should we abandon the plan?"

"What else can we do? Our true leader really does think highly of him."

Dark Archbishop Cyprusio harrumphed lightly, not looking amused. However, he shook his head.

"However, just because we won't do something means others, or even the Heaven's Warriors, who adore her and want to protect her, won't do something to her. Leak the information about who she is. The rest, fate will decide."

"Understood."

The assassins behind him disappeared, and Dark Archbishop Cyprusio turned to look at Rokushi Mirai.

"As for you-"

"…"

Dark Archbishop Cyprusio paused, causing Rokushi Mirai to narrow her eyes.

The Heavenly Blight Hall obviously valued the Divine Emperor of Death more than her, and the fact that she lost made their value more clear. She wouldn't find it strange if the next word she heard was about her disposal.
