Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4060 Threats From The Other Side?

Chapter 4060  Threats From The Other Side?

*Whoosh!~*

Lereza and Illumina appeared near the portal one after another.

Lereza had already started earlier because Evelynn had called her, but Illumina, whom Davis called later, had quickly arrived. She was insanely fast.

"Master!~"

They both called out as they saw him stare intently at the portal.

"Lereza, take Fiora away to our mansion." Davis lightly spoke.

"Darling…" Fiora uttered lightly.

She looked worried but didn't resist his command. It was dangerous for her to stay here since there was no telling what kind of entity might come out from the portal. The Nether Dimension shouldn't be underestimated.

Lereza shot a look at Illumina, knowing she was probably the strongest in this mini-realm other than Davis.

She could sense her Empyrean Stage undulations that were radiating ever so lightly from her body. Even while Illumina caught up to her, she barely sensed it, so she could tell that this rabbit was also very skilled in concealment.

"Nethermoon Mirage Rabbit, I'll leave things here to you."

Lereza uttered and took away Fiora without hearing Illumina's reply.

"Illumina, I need you to cut down anyone who comes out of the portal after Nadia, three children, Isabella, Evelynn, and Nyoran. It doesn't matter if they're not hostile. Just cut them down. I'll give you the signal."

"Understood, master."

Illumina went and stood by the side of the portal. She whipped out her arm back, her claw radiating a dark, purple nether energy. Maybe her power would be effective against Nether Dimension beings. Maybe not. However, she was powerful enough to cut down Late Stage Empyreans.

Davis also took out the black-white stone, summoning reincarnation energy within the palm of his hands using Fallen Heaven's energy. His body throbbed with a tremendous hint of energy, ready to be unleashed. Together with Illumina, no Peak Empyrean would easily be able to survive their strike.

He had his eyes closed, but his vision was elsewhere.

Using the hex vision he shared with Evelynn, he saw what was going on on the other side.

Myria was going to encounter the sixth strike. He saw it was big and knew it was going to be the last strike, making him adopt a ready posture.

Illumina was also ready to leap.

In these few seconds, he did what he could do. He made Stella ready to teleport them all to the Third Void Dust Sanctuary. His avatar remained with the children, keeping them safe.

All he could do now was wait for the tribulation to be over and for them to come back.

"…!" Davis's expression flickered.

Exactly a second later, a few figures jumped out of the portal.

"Nadia!"

Davis spread his hands and retreated as he slowed down the momentum of Myria and Nadia. It was like they were caught in a web. They slowed down before falling into Davis's embrace without being harmed.

However, Davis didn't keep them. He let them go, and Myria quickly shot away with them, knowing that she shouldn't stay here with the weakened Nadia and the babies.

The next moment, Nyoran entered.

Davis's heart skipped a beat, wondering if Evelynn and Isabella were trapped, but he soon understood his worries were unfounded as they stepped out the next second.

Nyoran instantly formed a hand sign with her hands and shouted, "Deactivate!"

There was no need for a chant, but her shout certainly helped the others know that she deactivated the portal, putting their hearts at ease. However, they didn't relax until the portal completely closed.

The two whole seconds of that duration seemed like an endless tide of suffering, making them imagine all sorts of negative happenings, especially Davis, who had seen the image of the Nether Devourer Beast and all the other terrifying beings in the distance, especially the one that looked like a giant demon from hell.

It wasn't like he couldn't take them down, and probably only one or two of them could enter the portal before it collapsed on them due to Nyoran's energy not being sufficient to stabilize the portal for such powerful beings. However, the tidings they brought would be dangerous.

It was unknown what kind of methods they had for tracking. Perhaps they could leave something, and that might allow the nether beings to enter here.

Nonetheless, the portal finally closed.

Still, Davis didn't let go of his tension. His nerves were still taut, ready to face even if the portal popped up again. This time, he even summoned more cannons that Sophie had repaired.

These cannons could kill Mid Stage Empyreans.

He waited until the others left to bring them out, as they could cause collateral damage.

Illumina was in the line of sight, but she could take it point blank and be unharmed. From the corner of her eye, she saw that Davis hadn't moved, so she still had her arm stretched, ready to pounce and claw anyone's face that may pop out.

The strange thing was that the more the nether energy she summoned and coated her fingers with, the more it seemed deadly. It didn't seem poisonous but this kind of darkness energy seemed near to death energy with how nefarious it seemed, its eradicating aura clearly capable of severing life.

Still, there was a limit to how much power she could gather to release one attack, or it would only blow up on her.

They waited for half an hour straight, but there was no new portal appearing at the same spot, much less in other areas.

By this time, space had already cracked a lot due to Illumina's simple action of charging up power. It was a good thing Illumina moved around, or not only would she have broken the space, but she might've also formed a crack in the karmic veil.

Fortunately, the karmic veil was way more powerful because it was created using Empyrean Grade karmic treasures.

Davis finally relaxed. He heaved a long sigh and opened his mouth, "Illumina, I'll leave it to you to guard this place for a while."

"Your wish is my command, master~"

Illumina dropped her hand and allowed the space to rectify itself. The nether energy she gathered in her hand also dispersed into the air. She waved her hands, feeling it having become numb from maintaining all that energy in a focused state.

"I told you. My portals are traceless…" Nyoran appeared in the distance.

She had come to check and saw that they had finally let their heightened sense of alert go.

"We can't be sure." Davis smilingly shook his head before staring at her.

"I… I'm sorry… I-"

"It's fine. I bet Nadia asked you to do so…"

He heaved a sigh and appeared beside her with a flash, causing Nyoran to go stiff, imagining her head getting lopped off.

However, a hand fell on her shoulder.

"Thank you again. I will not forget this favor."

After saying his piece, Davis left for the mansion.

He finally arrived in the chamber where life energy was floating around as though it were powder.

He saw Nadia on the bed, unconscious, as she seemed to be sleeping soundly.

Davis arrived beside her, his expression turning gentle. There were Myria and Everlight healing her. They were careful not to use too much life energy and harm her since Nadia was a death wolf whose body didn't go well with life energy.

However, that was only normal life energy to speak of.

Myria's life energy was way more pure, and she was already used to Everlight's Emperor-Tier life energy.

"She had a few broken bones and got sick from her energy being depleted and focus being exhausted, but she's safe," Myria reported.

"Truly… she's gone above and beyond to put herself in danger even though I told her we can just shift to another mini-realm…"

Davis sighed lightly. He reached out his hand and caressed Nadia's face with love.

Myria turned to look at him.

"You have to understand that everyone likes it here and would be devastated to run around again even if they're determined. I don't approve of Nadia's actions either, but I'm thankful…"

"Are you fine?" Davis also matched her gaze, his brows narrowing.

"Yeah. I feel fine. My soul had a delicacy, and it seems joyous." Myria smiled as though she found it amusing, "I thought it would result in untoward consequences, but it seems like we can use the Jade Soul Pearl to increase our prowess. However, it is limited."

"Yes."

Davis nodded, knowing that the Jade Soul Pearl wouldn't last long after a soul essence had been imbued. A month was its limit no matter the soul essence imbued, and for powerful souls, more than its grade depended on prowess.

"Where are the babies?" Davis finally asked.

"They're with Evelynn and Isabella next door."

"Alright,"

*Creak~*

Davis had just finished asking when the door opened before Evelynn and Isabella stepped in with the babies.

Myria waved her hand, clearing the concentration of life energy in the room from affecting the children. Just because it was good didn't mean it wasn't harmful to delicate lives. This kind of concentration was much more than their bodies could endure currently since they were just mortals.

"…" Davis froze on the spot.

Evelynn and Isabella smiled, approached him, and let him take a good look at the babies before they placed them beside Nadia.

"My children…"

As though ultra aware, Nadia woke up at the right time and reached out her hand over them, her expression full of love and affection. She then spotted Davis, and her weak eyes lit up.

"Look, they're our children…"

Nadia looked as though she was proudly displaying them.

Davis's eyes were already on the babies.

He had already seen through Evelynn's eyes. But seeing again, his eyes teared up because he almost lost them. The pressure from the nether beings alone would've killed them if it weren't for all of them working together to stop it, but right now, the babies were so peacefully sleeping.

There were three of them.

Two boys and one girl.

The first was the boy, the second the girl, and lastly, the other boy. It seemed like the birth order was that of brother-sister-brother. They did not seem to be triplets or twins, for that matter.

"This… this is Noctis… and this is… Ragna." Nadia hurriedly explained, her voice full of emotion, "They're your proud warriors… and this is Styx, your cute daughter but also a warrior just like me…"

Davis was indeed looking at them. He could easily differentiate them because they possessed different hairs.

Noctis, Nadia's first child, had a mix of black-purple and blonde.

Styx, Nadia's second child, had hair strands full of purple.

Ragna, Nadia's third child, was mostly blonde with a dark tone.

Their small tails were also of similar color except Ragna's, whose tail was still purple-black.

Davis was at a loss for words as his children were feys. Their features were fully human except their ears and tails, but even those traits seemed quite fantastical to him. He couldn't help but reach out his hand and caress them ever so lightly, understanding they were here and not a dream.

The most ridiculous thing was all three of them seemed to possess Emperor-Tier Blood. That was truly not possible. Forget one in a single pregnancy. It wouldn't be possible even across many pregnancies but Nadia did so in one childbirth.

Still, those traits didn't matter to Davis now other than their lives that had barely escaped.

They were so precious.

Wiping his tears before they could fall, he moved his hand and firmly held Nadia's hand.

"You did well enduring without me, Nadia. I'm glad you're safe and sound with the children."

"…" Nadia pouted, her beauty still flawless.

"What are you saying? Your presence was always with us. Right, Myria?"

"Indeed." Myria grinned.

It could be said that since she used Davis's soul essence to protect Nadia from the Nether Devil, he also protected her.
