Chapter 4214 Marrying Shea
Chapter 4214 Marrying Shea
"Fairy Runalise said that she doesn't deserve to participate in this big hunt and that she's temporarily retiring due to personal reasons."
"Why is there a need to say that by visiting me? If one of our Heaven's Warriors is wounded in some mission, they are allowed to rest after informing the nearest senior figure."
Venerable Hollow Knight's eyes were quite intimidating since it was pitch-black. It was as though nothing existed within his sockets but endless darkness. He couldn't help but think something was up as this Heaven's Warrior seemed to have called for him daily for no apparent reason before saying this today.
The Heaven's Warrior blinked, "Perhaps Fairy Runalise wanted to court a Venerable Knight."
"…"
Venerable Hollow Knight's gaze flickered.
"I did announce that I was looking for a third wife a hundred years ago and am still looking. However, no sane Heaven's Warrior would bring this up during a mission as important as this one."
"Venerable Hollow Knight, a titled knight such as yourself, is hard to get. Many female Heaven's Warriors have a high opinion of you, and I figure Fairy Runalise is no different. This may be her last chance before she may end up dying any day due to the mission."
"Makes sense. Emotions are hard to comprehend, especially one that belongs to a woman."
The Venerable Hollow Knight raised his head and looked at the skies, seemingly reminiscing about his own past. He touched his chest, and his senses reached his heart, but he could feel nothing but— emptiness.
"In any case, widen the scope of the search and investigate thoroughly. The Mystic Diviners have lost a lot of blood trying to divine the general location amidst the nine realms."
"Yes!"
The Heaven's Warrior cupped his hands.
He knew they needed to be stationed here for the most part since the Divine Emperor of Death could arrive anywhere, and they could teleport there quickly with the Golden Pagoda. Rumors had this was an ancient resource created by the finest of forgemasters who specialized in constructs and had a deep comprehension of Spacetime Laws.
They had to balance it out so that these constructs don't get destroyed by the Laws of this Layer. After all, not only did the Realm Pathways disallow simple teleportation to happen, but the Layer also suppressed any artificial artifacts of such nature, which meant only natural phenomena and unique lifeforms were capable of traveling vast distances across space in an instant.
Rumor had it that the Divine Emperor of Death was using the Void Dust Empress to travel across realms, but no one knew for sure. Until then, they could only search every nook and cranny and wait for him to reveal himself.
========
Five months after the Covenant.
Davis was secluded in his chamber, cultivating without a care in the world. However, he was expectant of one thing, and that was his marriage with Shea, which was going to be the next day.
As usual, the day before the marriage, he was hounded by his wives to get ready for the wedding.
They got cultural norms from Shea, which stemmed from her Goldsun Clan, and demanded that he take part in it to give her a prevalent identity. To that end, even Soaren Goldsun brought his whole clan to the city in order to take part in the wedding ceremony and festivities and increase the fanfare to the max.
Apart from the festivities and the banquet that was going to last seven whole days, the wedding went on smoothly.
It took place during the time when the Solar Reverence was at its highest.
Although there was no concept of day and night in the Void Dust Space, it wasn't the case anymore after Stella entered the Empyrean Stage. The Void Dust Space no longer only had starlight but sunlight and moonlight as well. They shone across the skies and the land, albeit their intensity was much less compared to what was outside.
Still, it gave them a semblance of what day and night, allowing them to recognize the time. If greenery spreads, then more and more vegetation might start to grow, giving birth to countless resources in the span of a long time.
Nonetheless, when the sun was at its highest point, Davis and Shea exchanged vows in the presence of hundreds and thousands of people.
Shea started in her dazzling wedding crimson robe, "I, Shea Goldsun, vow to soar by Davis Loret's side as his nineteenth wife and bask in his ever-loving radiance. I offer him my flames, my wings, and my soul, never extinguished and never swayed. I will forever be his and all lives beyond~ If I turn into ashes, may I never be reborn if it isn't by his side!~"
She rejoiced as she finished her last sentence. It was short and sweet, making everyone swoon.
Davis took a deep breath and smiled brightly in response.
"I stand before the Sunfire Lotus and swear to the heaven and earth that I, Davis Loret, will take Shea Goldsun as my nineteenth wife. I pledge to shield her with my wings, bring her warmth with my flames, and guide her to the golden light, which is my brilliance, which I promise will never die. My soul burns for her, and the bond molded out of our love will never wane, even if the eternal sun fades and shadow engulfs the lands."
His voice echoed throughout heaven and earth, causing countless hearts to shake as they could feel the firmness and determination behind those words. It wasn't said without substance.
The bride and groom exchanged what appeared to be an Eternal Flame Vow, branding their words into an inscription and etching them onto a burning Sunfire Lotus. Its petals burst into golden flames, signifying their vows have been sealed into heaven and earth.
They did this under Heaven's Warrior's witness, making Shea quite shy.
She was even approached and warned before the marriage happened, but she couldn't care less, saying she already had a child with him, making Fairy Runalise almost trip on the spot.
Fairy Runalise could only retreat and watch the wedding go on and receive blessings from countless people. She couldn't believe he would be wished well in this manner, making her heart churn with complicated emotions.
She did know how his 'Divine' title came to be.
Not anyone can receive it since it requires saving trillions of people, and if they come to possess it, the heavens would test their fortitude to see if they are worthy of that title. Regardless of the reasons, it was publicly known that it wouldn't be easy to survive.
Those who survived usually went on to become big figures, and the chances that they committed crimes or evil were lower.
From this, she could see that the Divine Emperor of Death at least did not harm people without a reason.
"Look, they're also performing the flight ritual!"
"Really? That's so romantic~"
Fairy Runalise furrowed her brows and saw Davis and Shea take flight into the air.
Apparently, it was called the Skyward Promise, which meant ascending to the high heavens and seeking its blessings. She didn't know why an Anarchic Divergent would even bother with that, causing her to shake her head before she saw them racing towards the horizon.
This next step appeared to be called Horizon's End, which means they need to race towards the sun until it sets, signifying chasing destiny together.
"…"
Fairy Runalise didn't know what to say.
While the Heaven's Warriors were gathering like they were going to war with another galaxy, the Divine Emperor of Death was gliding in the skies with a woman in his hand?
She couldn't withstand the humiliation, making her leave.
However, she barely got to the exit before she was stopped by Stella.
"Where are you going? There's still a feast to enjoy."
"No, thank you."
Fairy Runalise instantly became cautious.
The moment she re-entered this place, the first thing she saw was naturally the Void Dust Tree. Its towering figure couldn't be missed from anywhere within this realm.
It had become an… Empyrean, making her heart sink deeply into a place of darkness, barely able to see the light. She couldn't understand. This mini-realm now seemed capable of withstanding battles at the Empyrean level. From this, she could see that this Void Dust Tree was nearly unbeatable.
If it wanted to escape in the Lower Realms, who could stop it? And if it could escape, then how will the Divine Emperor of Death be stopped?
She finally got hope in the form of Venerable Knights descending to hunt the Divine Emperor of Death, but she feared that it might not be enough after witnessing the growth of this Void Dust Tree.
"Don't be like that." Stella pouted, "It's not like we're going to harm you, considering you're here to investigate us. If you left, where do we go to prove ourselves innocent?"
Stella's expression appeared innocent. She even looked down and spoke in a soft and sorrowful voice, causing Fairy Runalise to soften. She felt the Void Dust Tree could be an unwilling party. However, she shook her head.
"Then don't be with the Divine Emperor of Death."
"Why not? He's my husband." Stella looked aggrieved.
"…"
Fairy Runalise didn't even want to continue with this conversation. She would've thought every woman here was mind-controlled by him if she hadn't seen the city.
Nonetheless, she wasn't able to convince the Void Dust Tree woman and had to return to the city to partake in the banquet. She spent her remaining time vexed while watching the projection that displayed the Divine Emperor of Death and Shea in a romantic light as they traversed through the skies until dawn.
Soon, it was nighttime, and the bride and the groom left to fulfill their conjugal duties.
Davis spent seven days in closed doors with Shea.
He also used the Duality Harmony-Anarchy Vine Essence, a great dual cultivation resource that increases the energy exchange rate many times depending on many factors, but for their level, it boosted their growth wildly.
Shea quickly reached Level Seven Immortal Emperor Stage from Level Four Immortal Emperor Stage. It barely took her seven days, and on the seventh day, she even reached Level Eight Immortal Emperor Stage.
Considering she hadn't used the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill, it made sense that she was progressing at a fast pace.
