Chapter 4536: Wrathful Aeons Shard Region
Chapter 4536: Wrathful Aeons Shard Region
*Boom!~*
"Ah!"
Eterna jumped and fell over Celestia’s arms as thunder incessantly rumbled and lightning continuously struck all over the region. One particularly struck close by their flying ship, and the sound thundered from a storm cloud close by as the skies above them were full of clouds in multiple altitudes.
"Woah... this seems dangerous..."
Davis raised his brows.
The spatial-attributed High-Level Shard Region had also been dangerous, but as long as they knew the path to traverse, they weren’t met with any space-crushing and space-splitting episode. When they were about to leave that Shard Region, they had even seen spatial rending blades in the distance that were capable of killing Late Stage Empyrean cultivators.
But here, danger appeared to be present nearly everywhere since the winds were horrendously fast, nearly halting their ships by slowing them down ninety percent, the lightning struck with immense power capable of taking out Low Stage Empyreans, and the sound even had-
"The sound here from the rumbling from the thunder even has the ability to harm the soul?" Azariel’s brows furrowed.
Usually, the entrances were not dangerous since they were connected to other regions, causing the elemental energy to be less, but they had just crossed a few hundred meters, and the world rumbled at them like it was enraged.
"Partly correct," Myria educated them, "The howling sound of the wind, the explosive sound of the thunder, the ambient sound of the environment like rain, and the swaying of trees... everything here is amplified by the strange sound energy that is present in this Shard Region."
She raised her hand, drawing sound deflection runes and inscribing them in empty paper talismans.
Azariel and the others were impressed by Mother Myria. She was always level-headed, no matter the case, and even chided their father as if he were her son.
"Mother..." Celestial uttered.
Eterna jumped off Celestia and patted her shoulder, "Don’t worry. Mother Isabella is extremely strong. These sounds pose no danger to her."
"True." Viridia nodded by their side, "Don’t worry, elder sister Celestia. There was even a rumor that she inherited the blood of the legendary golden-black dragon, so in all likelihood, she has become even stronger."
"Mother Mira’s blood..." Celestia murmured, "I hope so."
On the other flying ship, Davis also drew a few sound deflection talismans. He had also gained considerable knowledge of Empyrean Grade Talismans thanks to staying with Myria for the past decade during his seclusion. He wasn’t just hovering there in the restoration womb to get back his cultivation since there was so much to learn from her.
Soon, both of them distributed these talismans.
After wearing the talismans, the children felt much more at ease. The terrifying sounds of this Shard Region no longer affected them as much as before. There was no pain in their body or soul.
Coming this far, Davis no longer hesitated.
He opened his karmic eyes, using the karmic thread connected with Isabella to trace the path to her. Since it was the same Shard Region, he wasn’t worried that some terrifying entities would find him.
As he expected, he did see a red thread.
Amazingly, it wasn’t smudged at all with other colors, causing Davis’s heart to churn.
’She... she is tremendously secure in our relationship...’
Davis had expected some tints of yellow in it to exist, which meant that it was one of distrust or unhappiness. They have been separated for so long, yet her emotions towards him didn’t change one bit, being secure and firm like a mountain.
Intense emotions filled Davis.
To him, he was going to see Isabella after many lifetimes. The memories they shared, the memories they nurtured, were all colliding at him like a ball exploding on his face. Even though these memories had resurfaced after his ninth seclusion since he had Celestia to excavate these emotions from, the sight of seeing the karmic thread he shared with Isabella alone brought him back his memories like they were a tidal wave crashing against the walls of the shore.
Regardless, what he was seeing was his side of the karmic thread. The fact that there was nothing smudged there at least meant that Isabella’s unhappiness didn’t spread to her entire being. Naturally, it also meant that his thoughts towards also didn’t change, remaining firm with love and affection.
Still, Davis felt a bit saddened that Shirley and the others weren’t here.
So far, he could only spot Isabella through the karmic thread. Most of the other threads stretched away into the void, meaning that Shirley and the others were in other Shard Regions.
He felt that it was as expected since they had split up. Regardless, he didn’t look at those threads except glance. Since these threads existed, he could tell that Shirley and Bylai were alive.
*Bzzz~*
Abruptly, some kind of formation activated beneath them.
The entire area around them became enveloped by some kind of dome-like barrier, and thunder rumbled across the heaven and earth, focusing on the very top of the dome. The blue lightning couldn’t look any more natural, yet it condensed and became increasingly stronger as time passed.
A change in the atmospheric pressure caused everyone to jolt. The clouds above churned like a cauldron of wrathful spirits, and the arcs of lightning striking above the dome increased in both speed and frequency.
Davis’s eyes sharpened as he raised his hand, forming an encompassing defensive seal in mid-air.
*Bang!~*
A terrifying bolt crashed into the barrier above, causing it to ripple like a gong struck by a warhammer. They were spatial ripples since Davis used spatial martial energy to defend. The resonance echoed through the surroundings, sending visible sound waves vibrating through the atmosphere, which reflected back, creating an unholy sound that threatened to rupture their ears, shatter their bones, and even injure their souls.
"That formation isn’t natural..." Myria narrowed her eyes, peering at the intricate inscriptions forming beneath the ship. "It’s an entrapment-offensive formation, sound and lightning attributed, merged through a resonance core of some kind. Something, or someone, deliberately set this up for us or others."
"Who dares?!" Rath Heavenshade growled, his robes fluttering wildly in the gusts. His aura pushed against the dome, but the formation didn’t falter. In fact, the storm seemed to feed on his energy, growing stronger.
"It’s absorbing external force." Davis’s expression turned amused. "Don’t push too hard, Rath. It’ll just empower the formation."
Myria floated up, hovering just above the sail of the flying boat. With a single gesture, she sent out a thin beam of sound-attributed essence, which pierced the dome. The feedback made her eyes glimmer with realization.
"This is a lightning-sound type offensive formation," she declared, her voice solemn. "It captures and reflects sound through hundreds of runic inscriptions layered across this space. The more we resist with energy, the more it retaliates. We’re inside a loop trap, one that can potentially kill even Peak-Level Empyreans if not dismantled properly."
Viridia turned pale, "So it’s a death trap for those who force their way in?"
"Exactly," Myria nodded, "And I know who might’ve built this..."
Davis narrowed his eyes, his voice booming, "Are we thinking about the same power?"
Myria’s face was cold, "The Mistwalker Family..."
