Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4639: A Cursed Artifact

Chapter 4639: A Cursed Artifact

The entirety of the crowd in the auction hall went silent. There were many who were confused, wondering what a cursed artifact was. Was it cursed by ghosts? Was it cursed by demons? Cursed by devils?

They had no idea.

However, the supreme geniuses who recognized the term ’Primeval Universe Ruins’ felt a shudder in their souls. They had barely heard of it, not knowing what it represented other than the birthplace of the Vacuous Beasts that started descending every once in a while.

Similarly, strange artifacts would drop from them in different manners. It could be carried by a Vacuous Beast’s stomach or a different entity.

They knew these strange artifacts were called cursed artifacts.

Their elders warned them to absolutely not use them or come into contact with them since there are many unknown mysteries about them. While clearing hordes of Vacuous Beasts, they would rarely come across them. They only got to know about this matter after they came across these cursed artifacts. Each time one appeared, they had to hand it over to the Heaven’s Warriors no matter what, or there might be serious consequences.

This kind of arrangement was the same for all the galaxies since the Heaven’s Warrior Organizations across the galaxies were loosely unified as long as it didn’t affect the matters of their own race and rule.

The Greater Realm’s supreme geniuses were aware of this point.

However, they couldn’t understand why this item was being auctioned.

Who was going to buy it?

Would they be buying it and gifting it to the Heaven’s Warriors? If they bought it and kept it hidden, the consequences would get them into trouble. The Heaven’s Warriors might arrest them and throw them into a long imprisonment session without a change in their expression. Magical beasts and spirit Heaven’s Warriors were even more ruthless.

They might have their lives ended instantly.

At this point, they looked at the Heaven’s Warrior geniuses who had come here. Since they weren’t anything special like them, having greater bloodlines and other specialties since their physiques mostly grew along with them, their prowess didn’t exceed seven levels higher most of the time.

Those Heaven’s Warriors who could reach eight or nine levels higher in battle prowess could be counted on one hand, and they weren’t sure if such a supreme genius was here since Heaven’s Warriors were already lower in numbers compared to the normal supreme geniuses.

Hence, the supreme geniuses didn’t even pay attention to them most of the time.

As far as they were concerned, they were in different worlds. If there came a dispute between them, they were free to engage or even kill them for treasures- as long as they were fine with incurring karmic sin.

Hence, the Heaven’s Warriors usually stayed away. As far as they knew, they didn’t go anywhere near the Divine Emperor of Death either!

"Uh... it seems like no one is interested in buying a cursed artifact except Heaven’s Warriors for safekeeping?"

The dragon-kirin auction host chuckled, appearing like this was within his expectations. "This is a rare chance. A chance that cannot be taken away by your seniors or elders. The world is mysterious, and our elders sensibly warn us to not come near certain matters. However, we cannot be their children all the time, looking down and following their backs. We must grow up and uncover the truth by ourselves."

He paused for a second, smiling as he panned his gaze before continuing, "This Peak-Level Empyrean Grade Cursed Artifact emerged from a space unknown to us. Whatever secrets it holds, whether it harms us or benefits us is something we should see for ourselves and not have our thoughts be dictated by our elders. As long as you are willing to take the risk, this cursed artifact can be obtained for the price of three Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources, and whatever fortune or misfortune it holds will be yours to experience."

"Let the bids start~" He waved his hand, causing a period of silence to remain before someone finally opened their mouth from the common seats.

"Please don’t auction it. Donate it to us. I will definitely report this to the Heaven’s Warriors Organizations, as the findings of the four hosts and appropriate contributions will be awarded regarding this matter."

The person who stood was a Heaven’s Warrior. His aura instantly made the others know his identity, so they dared not retort.

"Well, the seller needs to consider that. Not us." The auction host chuckled, "Since we aren’t sure this accursed item would get sold, we didn’t dare to buy it. Perhaps if no one buys it, you can negotiate with the person who brought it here."

The Heaven’s Warriors listened and contemplated for a moment before he nodded, "Fair."

"Naturally, we hold everyone’s privacy concerns to the utmost standard, so if the seller doesn’t want to meet you, then you can only give up. We won’t reveal their identity either."

The dragon-kirin smirked as his lips curled before he continued looking over the VIP units, hoping that someone would bid. For every item that gets sold for more than its initial price, he would get a cut from the seller, after all.

While the four hosts took care of the things in the back, he took care of the front with a spirit who was hidden.

The dragon-kirin’s gaze momentarily paused at Unit 12 before it moved.

"..."

Davis’s lips twitched.

If anyone would want to buy this accursed artifact, of course, it was him, who didn’t give a fuck about the Heaven’s Warriors.

There were already many people eyeing him, hoping that he would buy and reveal the secrets, but they quickly removed their gazes, afraid that he would use it to destroy them.

If the ’reasonable’ Divine Emperor of Death went crazy because he had been cursed, they wouldn’t be able to endure it.

On the other hand, Davis was wondering why his family didn’t encounter a single inheritance or strange item like this. They had luck regarding harvesting Primarch Grade resources, but for other things, they hadn’t encountered anything strange.

Should he thank the heavens that nothing untoward befell his family, or was there some sort of strange force that kept his family from growing?

In the end, he was still able to buy them using the resources they harvested, so he presumed that he was still lucky.

"Three Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources."

Davis’s voice echoed in the auction hall. He directly bid on it using his voice instead of the bidding mechanism as though claiming it was his.

Instantly, the expressions of the Heaven’s Warriors turned unsightly. They could not allow this cursed artifact to fall into the hands of any Divergents, much less him!

"Four Mid-Level Primarch Grade resources!" That Heaven’s Warrior clenched his teeth and echoed.

He looked around, receiving the support from fellow Heaven’s Warriors!
