Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4648: Retrieving The Cursed Artifact

Chapter 4648: Retrieving The Cursed Artifact

"I’ll refrain but still watch from the shadows."

Fairy Thunderblaze replied and heaved a breath, "It shouldn’t be hard for you to kill them all."

"I’ll just drop by and take the cursed artifact. After all, they paid the price for me. How can I treat them so badly?"

Davis shook his head before turning to look at Ophirya Kaelis, "I have a lot more to talk to you about. Don’t escape, or I will chase you to the ends of the secret realm."

"I’d rather not be chased by a greater calamity." Ophirya Kaelis wryly nodded, "I still want the broken spindle. Is my blood of great satisfaction to you?"

"It is. I’ll take it, but I won’t be giving the broken spindle. You want the threads created from it, right?"

"...!" Ophirya Kaelis’s heart shook.

Davis didn’t continue to explain and turned around to leave, "You can wait for me or arrange to meet at a later date before I leave this Shard Region."

He disappeared from her gaze and quickly made his way back to the VIP unit.

"Uh..."

At that moment, he was like a rat entering a house only to be caught by a bunch of cats. They raised their brows, looking at him with a stare that could burn the sun.

"Did you enter the red-light district?" Shirley asked, her tone concealing anger.

"Nadia, what did you tell them?" Davis asked Nadia who was inside his head.

"I said master entered the red-light district and sneaked into the room of a voluptuous and seductive serpent."

"..."

Davis was almost able to make out Nadia’s hidden grin in his soul space. With her paws over each other, she appeared to be greatly entertained as she watched his vision like she was watching a movie. The only thing she was missing was a popcorn.

’Nadia, you little...’

Davis controlled his expression with a hearty smile, "It’s a misunderstanding. I went to meet someone who wanted the broken spindle. They offered a good price, so I went to see who it was. See? I came back quick. Now I need to leave to hunt the Heaven’s Warriors. There’s no need to come. Rest well."

He turned around and quickly disappeared, leaving behind the stunned beauties.

"See?" Isabella sighed, "I told you he wouldn’t have gone there just because you made him wait. Our Emperor is a man of principles. You don’t need to worry."

"I didn’t make him wait..." Shirley pouted.

Her eyes glanced at Frostrose and Flamerose quickly before she argued, "I was just... romantic. We almost made out if it weren’t for the untimely visitor."

"Why is it Zenova again? Is she following us?" Isabella smiled wryly, "She could just accompany us if she wants to. There’s no need to be so reserved."

"Indeed. She acts so mysterious."

Shirley nodded a few times before she heaved a sigh of relief. All things said, she was relieved that she didn’t cause Davis to go astray. Her intention was to recall the romantic feelings they had and explode. She yearned for that peak. However, she noticed a few things and didn’t mind if his desire was to turn elsewhere.

But that didn’t happen.

’Thankfully, I won’t get culled by the harem...’

Shirley inwardly thanked the innumerable spirits in the Shard World.

She shot the twin phoenixes a meaningful yet awkward glance as she giggled, "Don’t mind us. I’ll be with Dewzai in the opposite room. If there’s anything you two want in the marketplace, let me know."

"Sure." Flamerose nodded without realizing anything.

Frostrose was silent for a few moments before she nodded with a strange look on her face.

Nadia’s doppelganger remained in the shadows, realizing that as long as she only said a few words and didn’t explain the whole thing, there would be a whole drama to watch.

Some time later, Alinna woke up and found the room empty. She froze on the spot as her bunny ears shot up, causing her to check her lower body in the next second. Only then did she realize nothing had happened. She shook her head, shaking away the strange thoughts from the illusion, before she went to see if the guests needed anything.

Somewhere near the eastern region, a large number of Heaven’s Warriors were fleeing.

There were over forty of them, ready to give their lives for the sake of bringing the treasure back to destroy or seal it. They successfully crossed dangerous lands and appeared near the exit, which led to another Shard Region.

Abruptly, a sudden gust of wind overtook them, causing their pupils to dilate.

A purple-robed man descended before them like an ordinary cultivator. He didn’t exude any aura or prowess, but by the time he neared them, he spotted the right carrier as though he knew beforehand and walked towards him.

"Excuse me, good bros with a not-so-good temper. I’ll take this ring if you don’t mind."

Davis reached out his hand and grabbed the ring from a white-robed man’s hand, swiping it off like he owned it. Then, after spending a second to confirm that he got what he wanted, he turned around to leave.

"Die!"

Only then did the Heaven’s Warriors react, throwing all sorts of powerful techniques.

*Boom!~*

But just as they gathered their energy and were about to unleash it from the tip of their fingers, a shockwave exploded from Davis, sending the Heaven’s Warriors flying away from him as the trinity of flames, lightning, and wind covered the area. It was unknown if Heaven’s Warriors survived, but Davis didn’t care, nor did he go out of his way to kill them.

With a jump, he disappeared from the place.

"Stop! That cursed artifact is dangerous...!" A Heaven’s Warrior shouted as though pleading while lying on the ground, but he heard no response.

Copious amounts of blood welled out of his mouth, while his entire body appeared charred a bit, and some limbs were missing. He couldn’t even move, tears spilling out of his eyes as he watched the Divine Emperor of Death disappear.

For the first time in his life, he felt fear that the universe wouldn’t be able to stop what was to come. However, he wasn’t scared of the cursed artifact but the Divine Emperor of Death, who didn’t seem to be afraid of it when all they wanted to do was stay away from it.

Davis was on his way when he sensed someone’s senses survey the skies momentarily. It was fleeting and airy, but it couldn’t escape his senses.

He turned to look around and spotted a black-robed hooded person. He instantly smiled as he saw that it was the person who had formed a strange connection with the cursed artifact. He assumed this person was a Wind Divergent, but he didn’t know, so he made his way curiously while still concealed and appeared beside him.

"Looking for me?"

"...!"

The black-robed person instantly unleashed a terrifying storm from his body, floating away like an object lifted up by the storm into the air. At the same time, innumerable blades focused on Davis and tried to cut through him, but with a wave of his hand, he took out the cursed artifact and swung it in an attempt to block.

The jade green fan swayed through the air.

Abruptly, the storm and the Wind Divergent froze in mid-air, his figure erased like someone had scribbled on him. Then he split off into countless pieces of meat, falling down from the sky.

"...!?" Davis was stunned.

The dialogue he had thought of to get more information out of the Wind Divergent got stuck in his throat.
