Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 4664: Tia and Ophirya

Chapter 4664: Tia and Ophirya

“Darling, I told you not to push Tia too hard. Look at her, my poor little sister…”

Shirley came beside Tia and hugged her gently, offering comfort and warmth.

Davis stood back and raised his hand to rub his chin with a knowing smile, “Those who want to throw their weight around and act mysterious need to show how capable they are. I’m going to expect more out of them like I do for Mingzhi.”

“Hehe~” Tia giggled weakly, “Just as I want.”

“…” Shirley looked at the two of them and wryly smiled.

Isabella also shook her head. She would also throw her weight around sometimes, but Davis wasn’t really wasn’t hard on her. She guessed this was their way of deciphering each other. After all, Tia always acted mysterious, suddenly knew about many matters that they didn’t know about, and took dangerous actions like divining without permission.

She was being punished in this way, but Tia seemed to want exactly that.

Tia’s lips curled as she tried to stand up, “This is nothing compared to enduring a Primarch-level soul like big brother did. I can’t compare, but don’t underestimate me nor pity me… I’m the Karmic Guardian Empress of this family. Using my life to defend the family goes without saying… and enduring exhaustion of this level to temper my soul is just the start…”

“…” Abruptly, Shirley and Isabella’s hearts shook.

They realized that they had taken Tia’s vow to defend the family lightly. Somewhere in their hearts, they had always seen her as a little girl who was cheerful, playful, yet mysterious, but now, they couldn’t help but look at her in a new light.

Isabella and Shirley looked at each other and nodded in an acknowledging manner.

Their Tia had truly grown up from a young lass.

Tia stood up and turned to look at the bed that was tied to the feathers of the Eternal Eclipse Bird. Her lips couldn’t help but curl in amusement. However, she quickly fell back on the bed as she felt faint.

“Relax.”

“Take rest, sleep.”

“By the time you wake up next time, you’ll be in our fortress…”

“Mhm…” Tia had her eyes closed as she let the others tuck her into bed.

However, she didn’t sleep. Her closed eyelids quivered as she tried to recall what had happened before she left the Luminous Rage Shard Region. Fragmented images slowly began to appear in her mind, eventually forming a concise script of memories within her soul.

========

“Ah?”

Tia gazed at Ophirya Kaelis, her purple eyes filled with shock as she sensed her soul palpitate. It was like a rumbling had erupted within her, the soul reverberating in need.

Ophirya Kaelis also looked shocked, her blank eyes seemingly producing a pair of livid serpent eyes. Reflected deep within the ocean of her bottomless abyssal gaze was a turtle. Her reptilian pupils seemed to flash with a predatory gaze.

“…”

The two of them realized- they were food for each other.

However, in between them was Davis sensing their rattled emotions. He sighed lightly, “Now, now, whether you’re archenemies or food doesn’t matter at the moment. Remember the topic at hand and discuss politely.”

“…”

Tia and Ophirya Kaelis looked at Davis before their gaze returned. The latter flashed a sweet smile behind her veil.

“With a person like the Divine Emperor of Death upholding the law and order, I don’t need to be worried that one of his own will attack me. My name is Ophirya Kaelis. It’s a pleasure meeting you, Fairy…?”

“Tia Davis.” Tia also replied with a sweet smile.

Despite her exhausted soul, which would be easily influenced by rattled emotions, she didn’t seem to lose her composure.

Ophirya Kaelis nodded, “I wondered what kind of person the Mystic Diviner of the Davis Family was after the Divine Emperor of Death denied that he was one. Now, I can finally understand. A karmic turtle soul…”

“A karmic serpent beast…” Tia said with an understanding smile as though she finally realized.

“Xuanwu…”

“Xuan who?”

The two of them turned to look at Davis, who muttered something indecipherable.

Davis rubbed his chin, his sapphire eyes flashing with interest, “Just a mythical creature of the legends that shares the traits of a turtle and a snake, but it’s not supposed to lord over karma. However, it does symbolize the harmony of the yin and yang. In other words, balance. Well, don’t be bothered. You can carry on…”

He smiled at the two of them, his expression mysterious as though he knew what was going on but didn’t want to tell them.

However, his words told them that they might become something similar to this ‘Xuanwu’ if they were to devour the other, a powerful existence that might be the arbiter of balance.

‘Is that my cue to break into the Paragon Magical Beast Rank?’

‘Is that my resource to improve my soul physique to a level beyond my comprehension?’

Both Ophirya Kaelis and Tia couldn’t help but think. Their silence only made the atmosphere turn more rigid and careful, as though a sound could make them move aggressively. Perhaps if not for Davis, they might’ve already moved.

Tia then smiled deeply as she sat, “I see you are in need of the threads I weaved and gave big brother your blood essence. Mhm, if I had taken a look at it earlier, I might’ve come up with other plans, but I’m not one to go against my beloved’s wishes, so here you go.”

She gave the eighteen-centimeter scarlet thread to Ophirya Kaelis.

The latter accepted it gratefully with both hands and bowed respectfully.

“Thank you for your consideration. There’s nothing else to say from me. It’s unfortunate, but I have to decline the invitation, Divine Emperor of Death.”

Ophirya Kaelis said softly before she added, “Please don’t kill me.”

“Decisive in leaving and pleading, something that would only work on me after you know me to some level…” Davis wryly smiled as he shook his head, “Not bad. But I truly don’t have any ill intent towards you. It’s unfortunate that we can’t work together in a shared space, but let’s not be enemies. As allies, we can strive forward and survive the world that is against our existence.”

Ophirya Kaelis raised her head to look at Davis, the reptilian gaze in her eyes dispersing as they turned moist. She nodded in gratefulness, “I would be honored to be your ally.”

“Not so fast~” Tia giggled.

It made Ophirya Kaelis’s heart tremble, but it wasn’t as great as what she felt a few seconds ago when she made her intent to leave clear.

At that time, she even lamented that she should’ve listened to Tsaryn’s words and left as soon as possible after she was told to be careful. Now, she was at the mercy of a karmic turtle who had all the reason to not let her leave and devour her. With a great existence like the Divine Emperor of Death behind her, she didn’t need to make any deep plans and could just plead for him to capture her.

Would the Divine Emperor of Death, who deeply cared about his wives, say no? She could only gamble by pleading for her life and weighing on his previously uttered words.

“I’ll make you even more thread. That’s why, please give me some of your soul essence…” Tia joined her hands and pleaded as she repeatedly bowed, adopting the same attitude as Ophirya Kaelis.

“…” It made Ophirya Kaelis suddenly forget her fear.

========

“…”

Tia uttered in her sleep, barely awake, “So that’s what happened… I exhausted myself in making those damned scarlet threads… but only ended up getting more blood essence in return… still, worth it…”

After that, she drifted off into deep sleep.
