Chapter 4684: Doting Mother

Davis cast his gaze at Niera, chuckling, “Come, let’s go back to our fortress. I’ll take you to him.”

“…” Niera was momentarily confused before she became stunned.

She raised her hand, placing it over her mouth as she trembled heavily, “It can’t be…”

Davis was about to smile brightly, but then, he knew it would not be appropriate. He stood up and held her shoulders, giving her a comforting look.

“Your teenage son is already an adult. He deeply wishes to reunite with you, his mother.”

Niera unwittingly bit her rosy lips, her eyes turning watery again.

Meanwhile, Reignisia appeared bewildered by their interaction before she raised her two hands, shaping one into a hole with the index and thumb fingers while using the other index finger to push into it.

She decrypted this strange knowledge that was imprinted in her when the human race’s men taunted Niera and the others one time. At that moment, relevant knowledge from her understanding of the Sky Word Language also swelled inside her.

‘These two copulated to produce a progeny known as Lucian…?’ She thought and connected the puzzle with an innocent heart.

She then understood that their connection was deeper than she had expected, making her suddenly feel a twinge of unease. Would Niera kick her out of her soul sea?

She had already chosen to accompany Niera for an eternity so that she could remain with Shirley, Flamerose, and Niera she was fond of. She was saved by them when she had been a little wisp. A Realm Calamity tried to hunt her down and had sealed its escape path, leading it to be trapped for millions of years.

Therefore, she considered the three of them her saviors.

Now, by sacrificing her prowess to her spirit blood and allowing Niera to inherit it to the fullest, she shared much more than a connection. The two of their lives were intertwined. If Niera were to die, she would meet her end too. At the same time, they shared an equal pact, so it wasn’t that dangerous unless they intentionally dragged each other to death. Utmost, if Niera were to die, she would become incredibly weak.

However, if she were to kick her out, she felt even more fearful of becoming alone and trapped again.

Shirley and Flamerose were nowhere to be seen.

“It’s fine, Reignisia. We will be with you. You can come with us.” Niera offered with a gentle expression as she wiped her tears.

She had sensed Reignisia’s soul turn rattled for some reason, so she quickly offered her some words of comfort. After all, if Reignisia wasn’t scared to be alone, would they have been capable of convincing a powerful spirit like her?

After being saved, it was likely she would’ve long left even if she felt some gratitude. Utmost, she would’ve led them to some treasure and then left without turning to look back at them.

But despite being the arrogant and most prideful spirit she had ever seen, Reignisia was the most scared to be alone of them all. It couldn’t be helped since she had been haunted by a ghost-attribute Realm Calamity, a Light Spectral Facedevil that was capable of mimicking any face and aura of the Nether Devil Race.

“…” Reignisia didn’t say anything but nodded lightly, her shimmering four phoenix wings that nearly formed a solar circle flapping ever so lightly.

Niera returned her gaze to Davis, “I want to go see my son. Is it possible?”

“Of course.” Davis easily agreed.

They quickly left the area and entered the Shard Continent.

Disregarding the shock Niera, Freya, and Reignisia felt over the Eternal Eclipse Bird, he brought them back to the Wrathful Aeons Shard Region.

Nadia even felt amused that they were using something mighty and terrifying as the Eternal Eclipse Bird as a transport magical beast, causing him to laugh. While halfway through, Davis relayed the location of the spatial vortex leading to the Celestial Transcendent Galaxy’s Second Layer to Myria and the others in case they needed to head there in an emergency.

Nonetheless, with nothing there to block their path in the way, they quickly arrived back at the fortress.

“Mother!”

Lucian was startled before he hurriedly rushed to Niera and embraced her.

Despite his big stature, he was already on the verge of crying. Innumerable memories rushed to him, how his mother always took care of him, especially during the days when the heat from his physique was unbearable. She always stayed closer, disregarding her cultivation while feeding him and making sure that he didn’t feel discomfort in any way.

All those emotions came flooding with the familiar scent of his mother.

“Good child, my little Lucian. H-Have you been well?” Niera’s voice shuddered as she hugged him with love and affection.

She pushed him and then touched his cheeks, looking at his grown face.

Intense sorrow and happiness wrecked her heart. Her son seemed safe and more powerful than before, but at the same time, she was sad that she was unable to witness his full growth. Now he was like his father, dazzling and handsome. His golden hair made him look like quite the lion. Yet, she was afraid of the difficulties he was going to face in the future.

Lucian also noticed his mother’s changes. However, he would never mistake her for someone else. Her voice and care for him were the same as ever.

Hearing the commotion, everyone gathered to see their reunion. Their expressions were full of smiles and satisfaction.

They knew how Niera doted on Lucian. After Shea, she was the woman who could be called the mother who spent the most time with the children. It didn’t mean Lucian was problematic, but his physique made life a living hell.

If he hadn’t been born in the Davis Family, he would’ve gone mad even if he had a mother to take care of him. Disregarding how many resources he needed, the emotional support and courage he got from Niera were indispensable.

Still, it wasn’t only Niera who had taken care of him. Evelynn, who doted on him many times, Sophie, who took care of him like he was her second child, Iesha, who aided him to keep his temperature down, and many others.

There was a saying that it took a village to nurture children.

Davis inwardly chuckled, thinking he had created quite the village himself, alright. However, he was also of the opinion that it couldn’t be just any village but one that was clad in harmony and unity like his own. He couldn’t hide the pride that reveled in his face.

After things calmed down, people noticed Lucian eventually turned awkward.

A playful smile emerged on most people’s lips.

“What’s wrong?” After greeting and thanking her sisters, Niera was happy to be reunited with most of her sisters, even though she learned that Bylai’s group had yet to return.

She didn’t worry anymore since Davis was here and was about to go bring them after dropping her in the fortress.

Just as she expected him to leave, the surrounding was suddenly filled with a strange atmosphere.

“Mother…” Forced to confess by the surrounding gazes, Lucian held his mother’s hand and gently nudged.

“Will you accept one selfish request of mine? Please, pretty please…”

“…” Niera was momentarily confused. After all, when had her good and obedient son ever wanted something that was considered ‘selfish’?

Utmost, he would become insanely confident and arrogant during a Lunar Eclipse, when the moon is hidden.

Then it dawned on her.

There were four unfamiliar faces here. Even if she had seen them before, she could tell that they didn’t belong in this room at a glance.

Her gaze fell on Xiu Juili, who wryly smiled.

Before Xiu Juili could explain, Niera moved her gaze, and it fell on Dewzai.

Dewzai looked uninterested, but she sure had been watching this family interact with each other as though ascertaining what kind of people they are.

Finally, it settled between Alinna and Saffira.

Alinna blinked innocently, and Saffira shuddered, instantly lowering her head in fright.

“It’s you.” Niera’s cold voice echoed as she gazed at Saffira.

Lucian panicked and stood in front of his mother, blocking her view, “Mother, hear me out. I… I love Saffira and I want to marry her. Please give us your blessings…!”

He turned to look at Davis, “Father, please tell moth-”

His words were cut short as he suddenly found his father had gone missing.

It was as though quotation marks appeared between his disappeared figure, marking his absence within his brain.

“You dare want my Lucian?”

Niera brushed Lucian aside and walked over to Saffira, her eyes wide and her aura flaring. Words couldn’t describe her emotions since she had reunited with her son after so much time, yet there was a woman who had already tried to steal him from her.

Because of this, it didn’t matter if it was a Celestial Fairy or a street girl at this particular moment. She was extremely pissed at those who wanted to snatch Lucian away from her.

“Ah, sister Niera. Please calm down.” Shirley stepped in between and grabbed her by the waist.

Momentarily, she was shocked by Niera’s power, so she had to use more strength.

Consequently, Niera also came out of her reverie, gazing at Shirley with some shock. She had thought she could match the big three, but it seemed like they had also made incredible progress with their cultivations.

Regardless, her expression wavered, not able to think about what she should do to Saffira.

She was scared to lose her only child, but at the same time, she slowly came to understand that he was no longer a child but an adult who was already capable of making his own decisions.

Just as she wanted to ask Davis’s opinion, he appeared beside her.
