Chapter 4862 Tense City?
Chapter 4862 Tense City?
Davis was intrigued as he scanned his gaze across the merchant convoy.
He sensed the aura of many Immortal Emperor Grade items and even a few Empyrean Grade items.
As always, it was only the wealthy who possessed spatial rings. The rest had to make use of transport systems available to their region and purchasing ability. Clearly, this merchant convoy couldn't afford to hire Immortal Emperors or Empyreans, or it would put a big dent in their profit. For the same reason, they couldn't afford obtaining higher grade spatial rings as well.
During battles, they get destroyed or simply stolen, never to see the light of day, as they get sold along with the stolen goods and sold in some other region or even a realm. This leads to a great scarcity of spatial rings, making them more expensive.
Immortal Kings were just too weak to roam from one city to another in the Upper Realms without any help. Therefore, Davis guessed this was a celestial body instead of an Upper Realm. Otherwise, he would definitely see more powerful experts outside.
Eventually, they made it to a walled city. The walls spanned a long distance that he couldn't see curving from his viewpoint, but they appeared damaged from claws and other magical beasts' weapons, allowing him to know this was a city that regularly endured beast tides.
It was no wonder this group easily accepted his explanation that he had lost his companions in the nearby mountain range. It didn't seem to be a rare occurrence.
"Hey, you… Don't be down. I don't mean to come off as rude, but you'll eventually get over it."
"Yeah, cheer up."
At this moment, two young men dressed up in ragged armor and carrying a shabby sword approached him. They looked worn out, as though they had gone through many battles, but Davis could tell that their skill was subpar and they didn't have enough wealth to take care of their equipment or heal their wounds fully, since they possessed many scars.
From their facial structure, he could see they were probably brothers. Furthermore, he could even feel blood resonance between them.
His comprehension of Blood Laws was so high that even his soul body could feel the resonance between them in a short distance.
Davis perfunctorily nodded, not really trying to keep a conversation since he would leave soon and explore the city alone.
However, the youths kept talking.
"Also, don't be scared. Although we don't know what phenomenon in the skies was that it made us all faint, I don't think it is even a rare occurrence. After all, no one seemed to hear anything about it."
"True... Even the most learned person in this convoy couldn't tell what it was… it was absolutely crazy… like the world was going to end…"
The two youths shuddered ever so lightly as they recalled.
"Oh?" Davis was finally intrigued to see people talking about his tribulation.
It seemed like it even made it all the way here. Just as he was about to ask more, a heavy voice echoed.
"Shut up!" It was the guard who had allowed him into the convoy.
The two youths went stiff and podded their heads.
"Don't talk about it. At the very least, it's a bad omen." That guard warned, also casting a look at Davis as though warning him.
Davis inwardly shrugged, 'At least, someone is smart about it…'
These topics couldn't be spoken about and would eventually leave the memories of ordinary people. For a matter like the Desolate Heavenly Tribulation, it would be extremely dangerous for them to casually talk about it.
Finally, he reached the city, and the gate guards checked the goods of the merchant convoy before allowing them inside.
With his soul sense, he managed to catch a glimpse of the owner of the convoy bribing the head guard inside a room at the gate. Then the owner came out smugly and gestured for them to continue ahead.
Davis gave them a few transcendent crystals and bid farewell. The merchant appreciated it with a nod but didn't bother to give him a second glance. He had also secretly slipped a few transcendental crystals to the youths, hoping it might somewhat change their lives.
If they died because of him, he didn't care. He was going to do as he wished from now on.
Stepping into the city, he saw that the atmosphere was somewhat tense.
He guessed it was because of his tribulation, which was widely regarded as a bad omen, so most people stayed indoors, hoping to cross this imaginary tribulation that they thought might have affected only their region, unaware that it affected half of the Celestial Transcendent Galaxy's Upper Realms.
In truth, even Davis wasn't aware of the full scale of his tribulation.
He extended his soul sense and tried to gain more information, making multiple illusory neighbors land in front of people to ask them about the recent bad omen, only to see people not even know what a Divergent is.
It seemed he really had stepped into some kind of backwaters.
But at the very least, the locals would be sure to know where this was, so he went ahead and bought a map of this place.
'Hmm… Dawn Triad Minor Realm? Whoa, this is actually a Minor Realm?'
Davis was momentarily taken aback. He knew that Minor Realms existed across all three layers.
Lower Realms only existed in the Third Layer, Upper Realms in the Second Layer, and Greater Realms in the First Layer. On the other hand, Minor Realms existed across all three layers, their landspan ranging around a thousand light-years, which was less than five quadrillion kilometers.
Nonetheless, to land on a Minor Realm instead of some celestial body, Davis wondered what fate he had here.
After all, the chances of finding a Minor Realm in the Upper Realm Space were way less than landing on a random celestial body. It was like finding a needle in a haystack. While there could be millions of celestial bodies of varying sizes, there were only a few hundred Minor Realms.
