Davis considered for a moment, not knowing what to say.

Davis nodded twice before thinking to himself that his plan was that he had no plan because he was thinking that Head Guard Rowen should just get screwed over after he was done with him.

Its metallic hull reflected the glow of the Ethereal Lumina Tree in the distance, the enormous tree rising beyond the layered bastion walls like a pillar connecting heaven and earth. Vast streams of heaven and earth energy spiraled around its trunk in visible currents, turning the skies above the Eighth Bastion City into a sea of shimmering colors.

Davis stood beside the window while Head Guard Rowen respectfully remained half a step behind him.

After Davis used the State of Divine Possession a second time on the Head Guard to tell him to secretly be loyal to him, no matter the cost, the chances of betrayal had gone down significantly. Hence, it could be said that the Head Guard was now firmly his living puppet with a consciousness that would act like any normal human being until Davis was in danger.

Davis had expected a backlash for his Will to be layered on another's a second time, but it didn't seem like the case, as it seems like he could endlessly corrupt someone's Will as long as it succeeded once.

Patrol squads moved in groups, and formation lights flickered across the streets.

Large barrier nodes stationed atop towers emitted faint humming noises as they synchronized with one another. The lockdown clearly wasn't for show. After the attack on the City Lord by the Heavenly Blight Hall in the Twelfth Bastion City, the entire Eighth Bastion City had become an iron fortress.

Still, Davis remained calm.

With Head Guard Rowen by his side, he was bound to get a free pass into the City Lord Manor.

Soon, the flying palace descended outside the manor.

The area was wide like a plaza with countless guards standing in rows. In front of them, a black-haired, sharp-eyed, golden-armored man stood with his spear. He glanced at them descending, and as they came out, he cupped his hand and roared.

"The City Lord is busy and is under the protection of my Special City Guard forces and the City Lord Manor's forces. Please state your intentions for your unannounced appearance."

As he spoke, he unleashed his aura, seemingly at Level Eight Primarch Stage, the same as the City Lord's Level Eight Exalt Stage cultivation. However, his aura didn't seem as dense as Head Guard Rowen's.

Normally, the City Commander would be more powerful than the Head Guard. However, the positions in the Bastion Cities were highly contested, with noble families and other powers competing to secure key roles. Compared to the City Commander's position, the Head Guard's position was easier to obtain, and in emergencies, they wouldn't need to defend the city and would be less likely to encounter danger.
