Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5294: Clash Of Imposing Sword Laws

Chapter 5294: Clash Of Imposing Sword Laws

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar’s cold eyes narrowed.

She wasn’t aware of such a thing, but she knew her master was seeking out the First Haven World Master’s bloodsoul essence. What kind of relationship did the two of them have? She didn’t dare ask but had some guesses from the whispers of the Guardians who had been with their master when the First Haven World Master had fallen.

"Even if I know something, why should I tell you?" Her cold voice echoed out with impudence.

"That’s because I’m the First Haven World Master’s Ancestor."

Zest Hyluan calmly answered, "I’m looking to retrieve her body from corpse defilers, you see. It would be helpful if you could cooperate before you got sealed."

"..."

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar’s gaze flickered, "It is often the relatives who are the most devious, driving out when unneeded and fawning over when shining brightly, even worse, harvested when dead."

"..."

Zest Hyluan’s expression quivered. He forced a smile and said softly, "Young lady truly has a way with words, but my intentions are pure and filled with regret. I hope you can help this old man."

"Then move."

"I’m afraid I can’t do that."

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar did not respond to Zest Hyluan anymore. Her broken twilight ring pulsed once and a thin dusk membrane folded over her shoulders. Starlight bent inward as her Starlight Devouring Veins drank the distant astral glow that still leaked through the realm boundary. The borrowed light turned black at the edges and spat out as dusk threads that chewed at the spatial lock around them.

Zest Hyluan’s sleeves never left his wrists.

Jade-blue time energy condensed into stacked afterimages of his palms. Each afterimage arrived a breath earlier than the last, slapping the dusk threads aside before they could finish forming. His voice stayed leisurely.

"I’m keeping you here from leaving."

"You talk too much."

Fairy Qiyra Darkstar’s reply was a kick that split the afterimages, darkness energy swirling around them everywhere. Spatial rifts opened like mouths and snapped shut on empty air because he had already stepped sideways in just a sliver of a second. His reaction time was impeccable.

Teleportation under Time Law suppression should have been impossible, yet he used it in short hops that never quite left the present.

On another side, Fairy Glacia Frigidveil’s sapphire eyes never left the tanned man in brown-gold robes. Ice did not form around her. It formed inside the space between them, turning vacuum into a lattice of frozen intent. The man rolled his shoulders, and earth-gold energy poured from his pores until the lattice cracked like thin glass.

"Frostcloud Sword Empress," His voice rumbled, "I am called the Golden Peak Sword Emperor, Fourteenth Grand Elder of the Heaven-Sundering Sword Sect, Durandai. I heard you have comprehended Level Three Obscure Intent of Imposing Sword Laws and even used it to end a Realm Master of the Hydra Galaxy. You have my praise, but in the end, you need to disappear."

Fairy Glacia Frigidveil’s smile stayed lukewarm.

She extended an arm and a single fingertip touched the cracked lattice, and the ice remembered it had once been a glacier. Pressure slammed into his chest and shoved him a few meters backward before he anchored himself with a stomp that made nearby debris orbit him like loyal stones.

"How powerful..."

Grand Elder Durandai didn’t even raise his sword yet.

He stood like a mountain, blocking the Frostcloud Sword Empress from helping others. Earthen might enveloped the space, and the sharpness of gold threatened to pierce the Frostcloud Sword Empress, but she displayed no panic. She didn’t draw her sword either, leaving Grand Elder Durandai a bit confused.

Shouldn’t these people be doing their best to break the blockade?

The Frostcloud Sword Empress held her fingers up with a vague smile and simply disappeared right in front of his gaze.

"...!"

Grand Elder Durandai’s pupils dilated.

He no longer held back and drew the ancient sword, Sword Heart intent rolling from it in waves. Combined with his own comprehension, gold and earth rose into a single sharp peak that crushed the space the Frostcloud Sword Empress had occupied a heartbeat earlier.

However, the peak arrived and found only emptiness.

Abruptly, a hair-thin line of frost kissed the back of Durandai’s neck and withdrew before his Sword Heart could react.

Grand Elder Durandai spun in reaction. The ancient sword carved the edges of the golden mountain range through the void. Each peak was a killing stroke meant to pin her, but none of them managed to find her flesh.

The Frostcloud Sword Empress stood to his left as if she had always been there, fingers still raised, smile still lukewarm.

"You hide the sword because you think I am not worth it?" Grand Elder Durandai said with a faint displeasure.

"I hide the sword because drawing it ends conversations." The Frostcloud Sword Empress’s voice echoed from everywhere the icy mist lingered before her fingertip traced a small circle.

Ice did not bloom, but her terrifying Will filled with Sword Quintessence did.

The circle became a frozen path that existed only between her and him, "You praised me for killing a Realm Master. Then you asked me to disappear. Isn’t that what I’m doing?"

When she drew her sword at that quintessential circle, Grand Elder Durandai’s scalp turned numb.

"Heaven-Sundering Sword Art, First Style, Sunder The Earth!"

He raised the ancient sword so high that it inevitably developed a field of earthen might that raised his defenses to a new high as though he was indomitable. Then the laws of metal gathered at the tip of the sword, bringing it immense piercing power as it slid over the edge of the blade and made it shine in a golden light.

The Frostcloud Sword Empress narrowed her eyes, finally feeling some threat.

However, she raised her icy sword and stabbed through the circle as she unleashed a technique, the tip of the sword instantly appearing near Grand Elder Durandai’s forehead.

*Clang!~*

The two of them clashed, their terrifying Will eclipsing every other battle, nearly making the others pause to see what was going on.

However, Davis and the Celestial Transcendent continued to clash without pause as though this time they were fighting for real, deathly ghost yang crescent waves and chaotic spatial storms overflowing around them. Neither of them gained any advantage over the other.

They seemed to have learned each other’s fighting styles to an elevated degree and were able to perfectly counter or dodge.

Even as Davis used the roach movement method to dodge while also keeping the Celestial Transcendent momentarily suppressed from pulverizing him due to the lightning paralysis, he still wasn’t able to slice him as a strange weak, slimy earthen wall appeared over the Celestial Transcendent’s flesh, contradicting the scythe intent.

Earth was stable.

It didn’t let anything change.

Davis didn’t know what kind of conceptual divine earth this was.

He was having trouble slicing through it.

As for the Celestial Transcendent, he was able to see through Davis’s scythe battle style already, seemingly having seen through him. Even though Davis didn’t use any style other than the subtle usage of the Wraith Mourning Scythe Arts and the Hateless Ghost Emperor Steps, his habit of manipulating, misdirecting, and attacking weak points was showing.

With his sharp gaze, the Celestial Transcendent easily saw through him, making it quite difficult to battle.

It was as though everything they learned about each other was reset, and they had to create new ways to counter the other’s moves.
