Chapter 5310: Harmonious Wives?
Chapter 5310: Harmonious Wives?
’Holy father...! How did he instantly notice?’ Azariel’s gaze shook as he saw his father find out that it was Noctis.
He was sure his mothers hadn’t told Davis, since they also did not want to bring this matter up during this joyous occasion. They had no idea what kind of reaction Davis would have since there wasn’t a precedent for this matter.
On the stage, the maids spread their hands, allowing their long sleeves to flow, and swayed their hips elegantly. Noticing their master’s jaw drop, they grew even more excited, dancing with intensity and showing off their skills.
"How did this happen...!?"
Davis turned his head to Azariel and asked in a hushed voice again. His expression was filled with disbelief.
"I don’t know. Ask your mothers during rest." Azariel shook.
"Brat, they are your mothers, not mine."
"Yes, yes~"
Azariel nervously stood up and escaped.
He had only wanted to tease Davis, not get Noctis and mother Nadia in trouble.
Davis could only watch him flee. He turned his gaze back to Noctis, unable to believe one of his sons was no longer a virgin.
Who was it? Just who was it!? How did this happen while he wasn’t present?
Why didn’t he see the other owner of the karmic thread here? Did Isabella and the others not approve of this woman?
He had the urge to stand up and follow this thread to the other end since it seemed somewhat near, possibly present in the sanctuary, but remembered this was a joyous occasion and shouldn’t do something that spoiled the mood. He controlled himself to sit reluctantly and continued watching the dance.
Davis didn’t move his gaze to Noctis anymore, but he wondered if Noctis was fine with this matter. His son didn’t seem particularly disoriented or sad. He guessed it should be fine.
Meanwhile, Noctis and his other sons had no idea because they were ’seriously’ watching the dance. The poor lads were thoroughly suppressed from engaging in dubious behavior, so it could be said that this might be the first time they officially watched a dance as adults apart from normal festivities.
Only his wives occasionally turned to look at him as though wanting to see his reaction, but he could also feel a few gazes that wanted to see if he took interest in someone up on the stage.
After Azariel left, Isabella and the others came to sit by his side and feed him fruit and drink.
Instantly, his mood lifted as he felt like an Emperor at this moment.
The dance lasted for over thirty minutes, and the music was simply heavenly, played by two maids called Revanya and Yumei. They were also dressed in white silk robes with flowing pink sleeves. None of the maids looked ordinary, as they were selected for the finest of traits and talents available in the sanctuary. Cultivation talent was a given. Even if they lacked beauty, they had some kind of skill going for them.
"How magnificent"
After the dance was over, Aila couldn’t help but clap, and the little children followed suit, especially Everdream and Evergrace, who sat on her lap like two cute little fairies.
The maids all stood up and bowed elegantly with prideful expressions. Then, with their expressions hidden, they threw glances at everyone before departing like a fleeting cloud, leaving the hall with only the Davis Family members.
Davis watched them leave and spotted Esvele commanding them.
He honestly wanted to see Esvele dance, but she was as stern as ever, not joining the young maids to showcase her skills. Perhaps she didn’t know how to dance?
He guessed since she rarely had any time to herself other than cultivation because she sincerely served the Davis Family without a single issue. She honestly knew their traits, likes, and dislikes at the back of her head and left no stone unturned in keeping the household tidy and stately.
"Really marvelous..." Evelynn nodded with a faint smile.
"We should thank Yilla for this wonderful dance." Shirley moved everyone’s gaze to Yilla.
Yilla bowed gracefully while being seated, "It is the skill of the lovely maids, and has little to do with my teachings."
The others instantly said she was humble-bragging, which made her giggle before she gazed at Davis.
"I want to hear the continuation of where we left off, darling~ What happened after you pushed back the Celestial Transcendent, cleaved the Desolate Era, and brought down the Golden Era? What happened after you kick-slapped the Hell Hydra Monarch and corrupted the Galaxy Wormhole with poison, effectively stopping the advance of the other galaxy’s forces?"
"Yes, yes! We want to hear~" Little Azalea cheered, her crimson eyes gleaming like stars.
Lea caressed her second child’s head and nodded at Davis, clearly wanting to hear more.
Davis could only display a rueful smile. It seemed like it wasn’t time to clear the hall yet and have nightly fun even though they had nearly reached the midnight mark, but he felt like he owed this to them since he couldn’t take them there and allow them to witness his grandiose accomplishments.
Even his mother, Claire, looked like she didn’t have enough of his adventures, and his father’s eyes couldn’t stop gleaming fervently. The sons were more than interested in hearing the heroic tales. Not one bit did they fake it, making it difficult for Davis to deny their request.
He honestly wanted to tell the continuation another time since it involved the rewards Celestial Transcendent bestowed upon him and would stir the family to discuss the future, leaving no nightly affairs for him or his wives.
If he left the reward part out, his subsequent actions would make no sense. He felt it was a pity and continued with his epic tales.
They turned extremely joyful when they heard the Celestial Transcendent decided to reward the Davis Family for this achievement.
However, the moment they heard that Davis was preparing to split the family into Divergents and non-Divergents by wanting Azariel to participate in the upcoming competition and win the right to become the Realm Master, the atmosphere clearly changed.
Some of the wives, like Mingzhi, already knew, but they still couldn’t help but go silent when they heard it from Davis’s own mouth.
Logan finally realized what had made his son so distant that his back appeared forlorn.
This was indeed a messy situation.
Davis hadn’t told them about the Supremes, so they found it hard to understand why he would take this drastic action. It was as though he was planning for his eternal imprisonment, making them sorrowful inwardly. The little children couldn’t understand, but smart ones like Quentin and Eden had their gazes narrowed.
Azariel finally understood his mission. However, his gaze didn’t change at all. Instead, he felt like becoming a Realm Master of an Upper Realm was indeed a great push for his cultivation, allowing him to easily overcome most of his challenges and stand at the top to help defend the family against threats like father did.
He approved of this decision.
But many didn’t share his thoughts since they would like to stay united even if it meant death.
However, they had seen their father admit defeat and want Azariel’s help, so how could they challenge his decision?
They let him continue on with his adventures, not choosing to interject.
Soon, they couldn’t help but cheer again excitedly since it was the time he had gone on a treasure hunt to obtain World Hegemon Grade treasures. The resulting treasures they had obtained from that managed to lift everyone’s spirits.
With treasures of this grade in their hands, so what if the family was in dire straits?
They only needed time to grow, and being the ruling power of a realm also meant that it would greatly help defend against threats. The only threat would be the Celestial Transcendent and the other peak experts, but as long as the Golden Era existed, they wouldn’t be subject to cruelty.
Davis didn’t tell them about Clara and the marriage agreement, leaving it for another time. His little sister was already crossing a precarious bridge. He couldn’t afford to be not too careful, lest he affect her decisions and get her imprisoned if the Heavens Warriors found out somehow.
On the surface, the marriage alliance was the Celestial Transcendent’s offer, but in truth, it was Clara lending a helping hand to them.
It wasn’t until four hours later, well past midnight and closer to dawn, that they stopped discussing the story and agreed to meet another time to discuss it.
However, only Davis’s parents and children left.
The wives stayed, their complicated gazes suddenly turning predatory.
"I’m first! No one can stop me!" Fiora stood up, declaring with a straight face.
"No!~" Lanqua glared.
"Sit down, you’re with a child already!~" Zestria rose and put her foot down on the table with a roar.
"Wha- Did you forget you had Silvia!?" Fiora lashed out in response.
"Doesn’t count! It’s time for a son!" Zestria spat out fiercely, her gaze ablaze with fervor.
Instantly, the hall erupted with voices of disapproval and admonishment, causing Davis’s expression to churn with half-laughter and half-tears. This was going to be a complete disaster since he could feel everyone was eager to go tonight, with only a few exceptions: mature women like Evelynn, Myria, and pregnant women like Zenova, Panqa, and Illumina keeping their hands off him naturally.
They watched with curious smiles, seemingly taking the disposition of elder sisters.
But what he was the most surprised was even Mingzhi was staying out of it.
’This girl... when did she become mature enough to care about her little sisters? Didn’t she tell me that she would ensnare me the moment I came back?’
Davis wondered while also musing about whether he should interject and chose by himself or not. Their emotions were at an all-time high, and not choosing them would be no different than offending them, so the safest and most sound choice would be to let the Harem Council decide.
They wouldn’t feel that offended if their collective decided it wasn’t their time yet.
Davis tapped the table with his finger twice, wondering what he should do.
"It’s already late but nevertheless, I’ll accept three to six wives today. If you’re comfortable, join me in my master bedroom. However, you may only enter one at a time, with a thirty-minute interval in between. Decide amongst yourselves whom you all will send, or send none at all. I could use a full course sleep as well, after all."
Saying these words arrogantly, Davis left the banquet hall as he disappeared in an instant.
The gazes of the women flickered with a wild gleam.
None of them felt he was being arrogant. Instead, they gazed at each other, intending to be chosen by the Harem Council no matter what.
