Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5320: A Proud Father

Chapter 5320: A Proud Father

"Yes, Your Majesty."

On the other hand, Thamana Deuce felt that the Divine Emperor of Death’s bearing was heavenly. She was aware that this had been a test the whole time and that she had passed. Her heart inwardly rejoiced as she bowed again and thanked him.

Only a terrifying genius like him could sire a soul-stirring man like Noctis, or so she thought.

She was sent out shortly by her master, and her bearing changed as she walked more elegantly, immediately following her father-in-law’s instructions. Outside, she greeted the others with a smile as the elation lingered, but her eyes were cold, her gaze calculating as she wondered how to make these new disciples benefit the Misty Pill Palace efficiently.

"What’s so important that you had to send even my son out?"

After Thamana Deuce was sent out and even Noctis was made to stand outside, Davis asked Lyra Mistwalker.

He was in a hurry to return since he couldn’t keep his wives waiting. If they found out he had gone out during this time, they would be pissed.

Lyra Mistwalker hemmed and hawed, her bearing as the master of the Misty Pill Palace suddenly no longer visible. She then finally stamped her feet, her cheeks blushing.

"Fine. I can’t believe this. You gave her the position too easily, so I can’t let go of this opportunity either. Is the position for daughter-in-law in your Davis Family still available, one that’s by Young Master Azariel’s side?"

"Hmm?" Davis raised his brows.

’This...’

He was stunned inwardly as he didn’t expect Azariel’s name to come up, especially when they were already sending him to another realm and probably hoped that a marriage deal could be attained naturally instead of being forced, so everything could fit into place for the family.

Now, this lass wants Azariel?

Why didn’t he hear about this before?

It was a good marriage opportunity since the Davis Family did want to have the two Mistwalker siblings to themselves, as they were highly talented; the elder brother was even a person of great destiny, although it had been severed by Davis himself when he robbed him of the opportunity to concoct and obtain the Gilded Realm Ascendant Pill of the Astral Forgeheart Minor Realm.

Looking at his inquisitive gaze, Lyra Mistwalker giggled. She explained herself.

"I had the opportunity to meet Young Master Azariel quite a few times when he came to investigate my brother for his formations and then came to the Misty Pill Palace to test the efficacy of the pills and audit us, and ever since then, I’ve been head over heels for him. However, he said he wasn’t interested in relationships since he has huge responsibilities, so I haven’t really made him look my way. Can I pursue him openly?"

She spoke jubilantly before raising her hands together as though begging him.

Davis blinked, "You... you are aware that he deals with poison a lot, right? Wouldn’t you be living in... fear?"

"It’s not like I’m clueless." Lyra Mistwalker flicked her sleeves, "I know a lot about poisons and how to make antidotes. My skill isn’t great at that, but as long as I know the type of poison it is, it’s not hard for me to find the ingredients required to counter it because of Immaculate Alchemy Laws. I should be able to become a Poison Apothecary if I tried. In any case, I don’t fear him, and he’s so cool and dreamy. Father-in-law, can’t you do something about this?"

She acted cool, then ultimately joined her hands and begged him with a cute look on her face.

After some thought, Davis said.

"You do... have some sincerity. Let’s see. The family has some plans for him that shape the future of the Davis Family. After that, if you still want him, we can talk about this matter."

"Oooh~"

Lyra Mistwalker shivered in elation.

To hear that Azariel was going to be handed over such a huge opportunity, she was glad for him. She felt it was as expected of the person she had a huge crush on.

After exchanging words a bit more and promising to send gifts to the Davis Family, which Davis denied but she still insisted, Davis left the palace along with Noctis.

He inwardly sighed, feeling this was going to be a mess if Lyra Mistwalker found out that there was a chance someone else could become Azariel’s first wife. But as a father, he was quite proud of his sons being able to attract women of high caliber.

’This child... he had his heart broken once, so I doubt he’s that interested in romance anymore. Even if he takes one, I doubt he will take another anytime soon.’

Davis could only wish Azariel would forget about this matter and look forward to a new relationship, one that’s more genuine.

This time, he didn’t carry Noctis rudely.

They flew in a flying boat.

Davis was seated while Noctis remained standing by the side. His gaze was outside as he glanced at the clouds, his thoughts plentiful.

Davis turned to look at him and muttered under his breath, "Sheesh, this child didn’t catch up to her and give her a fierce kiss?"

"What-?" Noctis felt like he had heard something as he turned to look back at his father.

"Nothing." Davis smiled, "My son, Thamana Deuce is extremely smitten with you. Her emotions towards you are also genuine. This, I can attest to."

"Really?" A rare smile couldn’t help but spread across Noctis’s face as he heard his father’s confirmation.

"But whether she’s after your wealth to improve her cultivation and alchemy skills, I have no idea. These kinds of emotions are part and parcel of the passion people share towards someone. Hard to differentiate unless I explore more, but I’ll leave that to you to figure out. Otherwise, it’d be boring."

"Father, you’re the best."

Noctis laughed heartily before he massaged his father’s shoulder with his two hands.

Davis nodded satisfactorily, "You’re still getting punished, though."

"Ugh..." Noctis clenched his teeth.

"Have you been punished yet?" Davis raised one eyebrow while still enjoying the massage.

"No."

Noctis said softly, one part sigh and another part knowing he was still screwed.

"Then you’ll be flogged a hundred times."

"Your son accepts."

Davis narrowed his eyes, "No, you accepted that too easily. You’ll be flogged the number of times you thrust into her."

Noctis helplessly nodded, "Your son accep- what?"

He abruptly flinched as he took a step back and pointed at Davis, his gaze turning furious while his cheeks reddened.

"You old fffff!-"

The curse word stopped at the tip of his tongue as he imagined how many times that was. A thousand? Ten thousand? More? How would he know!?

No! That was not the issue! How crass can his father be?

Davis turned to look back, his smile turning into a wide grin, "What are you waiting for? Curse me out loud. Aren’t you a fine man now? Or are you still the same old little Noctis who runs behind his mother’s tail? Come on!"

Noctis’s mouth puffed up. His wolf ears stood on end as his entire body trembled. He mustered every bit of courage in his body and spat out.

"You old fart!"

Davis turned his gaze straight and threw his head up.

"Pft-ahahahah! Good! Hahaha-uckkk!"

"I’ll fight it out with you!"

His son suddenly put in a chokehold, play-fighting with him.

In the end, they laughed together as it made them remember the nostalgic times when Davis threw the three siblings around as he played with them when they were little.

After they had their fun throwing each other around and laughing, Davis said with a small sigh.

"Challenging the father is a major event in every son’s life. If you haven’t done that, then you have missed out on an important opportunity to grow a part of yourself."

Noctis still held a smile on his face as he sat opposite him. He asked with a strange smile.

"Did you also do that father?"

"Naturally, and I instantly won." Davis bragged.

Noctis raised one of his brows, "Grandfather said otherwise."

Davis clicked his tongue in disdain, "That old fart. How can he count the time when I had no cultivation?"

Noctis shrugged.

"I don’t know. You also lost the first time."

"Tsk, tsk. Both of you dream on. I always win."

Davis flicked his sleeves and stood up, causing Noctis to laugh.

He also stood up and looked over the flying boat. They had finally returned home.

Then his father’s arm wound across him as he grabbed his shoulder before shooting him a smile that could only be described as belonging to the devil.

"So... how many flogs was it again?"

"..."
