Chapter 5346: A Huge Formation Building Assingment
"How about it?" Davis chuckled upon seeing Lest Mistwalker’s reaction, "Do you feel like you’re up to the task?"
Lest Mistwalker hesitated for a few seconds before asking in a soft voice.
"Can I know why the reward is so high?"
"Naturally, anything that has to do with the protection of our sanctuary will receive immense funding, and you have been faithful to our empire so far. I’m not stingy when it comes to paying what people deserve, whether it be reward or retaliation, and this mission absolutely is worth it if you can succeed because it has so many elements that I wouldn’t even know where to start, but I believe you could."
"Then I’ll listen to what you have to say first."
Lest Mistwalker neither accepted nor denied the request outright. He wanted to see what kind of challenge the Divine Emperor of Death would put forward for him.
He also learned that he loved to build continent-wide formations. Even though it was a huge pile of work that could push one to exhaustion, the Davis Family was not short on personnel and resources, allowing his formation arts to surge exponentially when it came to improvement.
Even if he was in the Mistwalker Family, there was no way they would pour so many resources onto one person, even if it was the Patriarch himself. When a formation of this scale was being built, there would be so many elders interfering and offering differing opinions that nothing would get done and instead take a long time to be even approved.
This was especially the case for juniors like him.
Besides, the formations around their Upper Realm were already built, and new sites that required the attention of juniors were hard to catch since the competition was heavy. He would get a formation-building mission easily considering his status and ability, but the scale would be small.
How could he be satisfied with such a small task?
Davis nodded lightly before collecting his thoughts, "Do you know how to make this floating continent out in nowhere a flying continent?"
"This..." Lest Mistwalker turned contemplative, "... is certainly possible since there are many previous cases of my Mistwalker Family turning floating islands into flying islands, and our people in the Greater Realm doing that to floating continents. It isn’t anything special but certainly a huge task requiring an extreme amount of resources."
"However, these floating continents are usually anchored to a bunch of spatial nodes, and sliding off from them will create problems in the various veins of the continent. It could lead to a shortage of water veins and earth veins and could even cause fire veins to rupture, causing volcanic explosions and all other kinds of disasters like floods and earthquakes or tame ones like water drying up and the land becoming infertile. Usually, this would be done after evacuating all the people from the floating continent, but we can’t do something like that, can we?"
"True."
Davis chuckled, "So what can you do to tackle these problems?"
"Usually, the spatial nodes problem is tackled by creating spatial current nodes and allowing the flying continent to traverse these nodes, but it limits the flying continent’s ability to travel freely since it could only move in that current, making it easier to be ambushed. However, there are a few methods to tackle this issue."
"One proven and reliable method is to tie these veins to the Spatial Anchoring Core. It acts as a central spatial node for all the veins in its vicinity, tying them to the continent instead of the spatial nodes in space. This allows them to remain even more stable than normally being connected to spatial nodes that experience resonant quakes from the spatial storms in the layers of space. As a result, this method allows for the continent to fly freely."
"Another method, albeit more expensive, is for the continent to make its own spatial nodes as it moves. An array of formation flags and spatial treasures would create short-lived nodes ahead of the landmass in the direction it’s traveling. It allows for a smooth journey, but this is mostly used for flying islands instead of flying continents."
"Another method, also expensive, is to construct enormous spatial formations beneath the continent that mimic natural spatial veins. They would continuously regenerate the spatial pathways being severed as the continent moves, making the continent effectively its own spatial realm, allowing it to move independently of the surrounding spatial fabric. It is much faster in traversing than the previous method and is flexible in its propulsion."
"Speaking of propulsion, that’s a headache altogether, but considering the number of Peak-Level Immortal Crystal Vein Cores the Davis Family has, it is not a problem at all. As long as we place a sufficient number of Peak-Level Immortal Crystal Vein Cores as the energy source, they would practically be endless, as they would never be fully consumed, especially in this Golden Era where it’s already noted that their generation of immortal crystals and vein fragments is said to have become two to three times faster."
"Indeed." Davis smilingly nodded, appearing satisfied with the answer.
"So," Mingzhi voiced out as she gazed at Davis, "The first method is generating an artificial spatial node core that protects all the veins from natural spatial disasters. The second method is like a train creating new tracks in front of it as it travels, and the third method is one is like sailing a ship in the sea using spatial currents as a surface to move."
"I don’t know what a train is, but that’s exactly the case, Fairy Mingzhi." Lest Mistwalker gestured towards her with admiration.
He had always dealt with Mingzhi when it came to communicating with the Davis Family, and although she was scary because she possessed Heart Intent, she was easygoing and smart, allowing him to get his ideas across and get his work approved to be built.
Davis nodded, "What do you think fits best for this continent?"
"If Your Majesty merely wanted a flying continent, that would be simple. But you don’t want to evacuate its inhabitants, nor can you afford to damage its veins. You want the continent to retain its original ecosystem while gaining the freedom to move anywhere."
Lest’s eyes gradually brightened with excitement.
"In that case, I would have to reconstruct the continent’s spatial foundation itself."
Davis raised an eyebrow, "How?"
"First, I would establish a Spatial Anchoring Core at the continent’s center and connect the dragon veins and other veins. Then I would construct secondary spatial nodes throughout the continent and connect them again to the existing earth, water, fire, and other spiritual veins. Those nodes would become artificial meridians for much better support and even increase the grade of the veins by a small or big margin depending on the resources we use to support it."
"Whenever the continent moves, the formation would migrate the spatial nodes along with it while simultaneously adjusting the circulation of the natural veins. The continent would no longer depend on its original spatial anchors, so movement would become free while it still floats and moves through propulsion."
Lest Mistwalker paused for a moment, his expression turning hesitant, "But that still wouldn’t be enough. If we simply disconnect it from the surrounding spatial network, the continent would become vulnerable to spatial turbulence when moving across space."
His expression became serious, "Therefore, I would have to construct a spatial barrier around the entire continent. It acts like a domain. Within that domain, the continent would possess its own stable spatial coordinates, allowing us to even create teleportation formations within."
"Whoa~"
Davis and the others reacted with astonishment.
Lest Mistwalker indeed did not disappoint.
