Divine Emperor of Death

Chapter 5350: Want To Be In Control?

Chapter 5350: Want To Be In Control?

"Haha, really? He must’ve kept a shell to reward a family that could at least stall me." Davis couldn’t help but laugh.

He barely had time to check anything he had looted since he was busy with the hunt for World Hegemon Grade Treasures and learning karmic techniques for survival. However, he made sure to discard anything highly prone to tracking, then sealed the rings with a karmic veil by wrapping a karmic thread around them.

Since he was always stealing and could see and generate karmic threads, it was standard procedure for him. If he couldn’t learn how to steal without getting caught, then he possibly couldn’t be his wives’ favorite Bandit Emperor.

At this moment, Hailac, standing a half-step behind Tia, swallowed and then spoke in a smaller voice.

"Teacher, if the continent must also enter Stella’s mini-realm and leave it again, the shell will have to stretch and contract with every blink. That is more strain than letting it function in a stationary formation."

"I know," Tia answered. "That is why I will sit at the root nexus with Stella for the first year. The shell and my own physique would be connected through a bloodsoul link, so my physique will also be burdened, but fret not, since I am confident I could reach the Exalt Stage before all the grand formations are finished."

Stella’s small fist, still raised from her earlier vow, lowered a fraction. She looked from one karmic expert to the other, purple eyes bright with both worry and interest.

"All these grand formations are connected to me. Don’t you all think my body would shatter?"

Davis chuckled, the same easy sound he had given Fairy Divinacia earlier. "You will not shatter, for I will make you the strongest spatial tree the universe has ever seen, no matter the case. You will grow another ring of roots and demand more resources, which I would be excited to present."

Stella puffed her cheeks, looking happier than ever.

Their gaze aligned to each other, and she easily got the true meaning of it. He was saying he would prioritize her over her mother again, reassuring her.

Mingzhi’s eyes shone. She could already see the two karmic methods that were proposed sitting side by side rather than opposing each other. One hid the moment of movement. The other made the thing that moved look like something that had always existed, and a waste of time to check out.

She could see these grand formations nearing perfectly aligning as though a puzzle was being completed right in front of her eyes, suddenly making her feel excited.

Myria and Zenova also offered their opinions to perfect the little details in the grand formations and fully approved of the plan. In the end, Ophirya Kaelis and Tia were like cats and dogs, glaring at each other and wanting to protect the continent with their methods alone; even putting forth a substitute karmic formation for each of their initial ideas, clashing with intensity.

Davis naturally wanted to side with Tia, who had always been protecting the family as its Karmic Guardian Empress, but he really didn’t expect such eagerness from Ophirya Kaelis. Even at the risk of offending everyone, she was trying to keep up her worth, trying to prove herself as a valuable ally.

He had even checked with Heart Intent, so he couldn’t be wrong.

Ophirya Kaelis was also smart, so she knew that as long as she was sincere, like she had been before when she desperately sought his help during the war, there was the possibility of being understood by the Divine Emperor of Death. He didn’t want to push her away and intentionally suppress her when the first karmic idea initially belonged to her, which Tia had built upon later as she gave a substitute for it.

In his eyes, their karmic knowledge certainly matched, even though Tia still had an edge with her futuristic knowledge that he guessed was released by her Karmic Guardian Physique every breakthrough, as though they were whispers of fate themselves.

He couldn’t help but wonder how advanced this array of knowledge she gained was and would gain when she stepped into the Exalt Stage.

Still, Davis let the two women finish glaring at each other before he spoke again.

"Enough. Fairy Ophirya’s veil handles the instant of displacement, and Tia’s turtle shell handles every hour the continent spends in the open sky or parked near a realm. We use both. Fairy Ophirya sets the first three blinks as she explained and teaches Fairy Hailac the rope. Tia anchors the Guardian Shell Overgaze Formation to Stella’s root network so that every time the tree breathes, the shell breathes with it. Together, you will endure the tear of the formation when it blips. End of discussion."

"..."

Tia shrugged, "Her plan is great, but I just don’t want outsiders owning a part of our karmic formations. It’s good Hailac will be assigned later to oversee it."

"Tia, Ophirya is not an outsider anymore." Davis said softly as he turned to look at his young wife, "She helped us escape the karmic gazes of the Celestial Transcendent and many other powerful experts. I’m sure you know this already, so what’s the problem?"

"Your Majesty," Ophirya Kaelis interrupted, "Please don’t take offense at Tia for me. We Mystic Diviners prefer to control everything rather than share the burden, since it’s easier to notice when formations break. If even a single tear appears in a formation we aren’t overseeing, then we would’ve essentially failed in our duties, as it would allow our enemies to infiltrate. That’s why it’s common for us to clash in order to oversee the entirety of the karmic formations."

"True." Tia nodded, "But still, you are new, even if you are a valuable ally. I play with a lot of things, but just don’t play with controllable risks in this manner."

"That’s extremely reasonable since I also wouldn’t allow you to host the karmic formations if you were an outsider." Ophirya Kaelis nodded, her mermaid-like ears fluttering, "I will wait to accumulate trust, but all I ask is an opportunity to prove myself."

"And you have got it." Tia flicked her sleeves, turning impatient, "Lest Mistwalker also makes formations for us, but he isn’t in control of any of it and understands why better. It is better for us this way than being cautious and needlessly monitoring each other. Your ideas are valued, and we hire and reward you handsomely for your cooperation, but I don’t see why you need to have control."

"..." Ophirya Kaelis bit her lips, "Why not? I can do many things for this family to earn my stay. I do not want to be a mere bystander or a small aid in our fight for survival. If you are telling me that I cannot be trusted to host formations no matter what, even though I want-"

She turned to look at Davis, her facial expression quivering behind her veil.

"Do I have to join His Majesty’s harem, then...?"

"..."

Tia raised her brows, and so did the others, wondering what this shrewd karmic serpent was planning. Not for a single moment did they believe that she had fallen for him, even if she liked him, since Davis had previously told them that she was a rational being who wouldn’t surrender to her impulses and had survived because of that.
