Divine Path System

Chapter 1725: Talk of Slivers

Chapter 1725: Talk of Slivers

Space tore into shreds, time distorted into chaotic currents, mixing the past, present and future.

The secret realm exploded like a supernova and an exceedingly bright light emerged from the region.

Not just the powerhouses in vicinity or those near the Silver City, all divine rankers in Eden froze at that moment.

A primeval power seemed to emerge, ready to destroy the entire world. Thankfully, it was only a spark, ending as it began.

No one was hurt. Except one.

"Damn it! You bastard!"

Varian was thrown around in the chaotic space, badly injured from head to toe. Other than a few pieces of flesh here and there, only a skeleton was left. And more than a dozen bones were missing.

Vitality weak and aura faint, he’s like a flame about to go off.

"I...I...m-ust..." Despite trying his best, he fainted.

A powerful rank 2, the man who easily slaughtered the whole of Neveah tribe, was rendered unconscious, just like that.

As Varian’s vision turned dark, the eyes in his soul were smiling.

Smiling with arrogance, condescension and mockery.

(Ouch! Var, let me help you.)

Samsara enveloped him in a gentle green glow. The warmth was like a warm spring, relaxing his nervous body.

Soon, his body was fully body restored. But he remained weak and dull.

The sinister aura from the expllosion kept gnawing from the inside. Samsara was trying, but even she found it difficult to remove it quickly.

(Hey, useless! Come and help!)

She beckoned to the other one.

Logos’ spoke in her professional cold tone. [No. He can use the powers of slivers. But active intervention of slivers would result in distortion of fate.]

(Shut it, you icy b@$! If he’s left like this, he’d need a full week to recover. Aurora’s grave would already start growing weeds.

He’d hate you forever.)

Samsara yelled, making one wonder if she’d have pulled Logos’ hair if there was an option.

[This...] Logos wavered.

The sliver that followed logic, principles and rationality, was wavering on her own rules.

(Besides, you said his fate is already obscure. You can’t see anything. You can’t do anything. So, does non-intervention even matter anymore? You dumb b@#!)

[...@#$!] A curse rang from that cold voice before the power of black and white enveloped Varian.

It worked with the green glow and together, they surgically decreased the infiltrated aura from his body.

As this happened, the explosion attracted the powerful divine rankers from all over the region. There were no rank 2s amongst them.

All the rank 2s of Jai were dead. And all the rank 2s of the confederation were in the Silver city.

In complete stealth, Varian was moved to a desolate location.

(The body of the Primordial god isn’t actually there, only some of his power, keeping the dungeon running for billions of years.

Yet, it malfunctioned when Var was leaving and the remnant power exploded, injuring him.

What a coincidence.)

Samsara muttered as she worked against the stubborn godly aura.

Even the slivers themselves found this hostile aura difficult to deal with. And this was only remnant power of the god that died billions of years ago.

Samsara knew that she and all of the slivers emerged from Primordial gods.

But she knew neither why they were created nor how. It led her to view the Primordial gods with suspicion even though the information was innate.

But with this encounter, she realized that Primordial gods were indeed a full step above slivers.

[What do you want to say? He always had bad luck, well, it’s a price to pay.]

(Can his luck even manipulate the corpse of a dead primordial god? Someone whose remnant aura even we’re struggling to remove?)

Logos fell silent.

(There is something else going on. Var was acting strange, asking weird questions. Well, now, I don’t think they are weird anymore. He’s seeing things we can’t see or rather, we are stopped from seeing things he is seeing.)

[Don’t ask me. I haven’t know.]

(But you have a good guess, right.)

[Whatever we do, will only fall into his plan. Because we are the creations of the Primordial gods and the Primordial gods are his creation.]

(...Even now, he’s hearing our conversation, isn’t he?)

[Perhaps laughing at the tools for trying to defy their role.]

If Varian was awake, he’d have seen the ’eyes’ narrowing as they showed a contemptuous laughter.

(I’m already feeling the despair. I wonder what Var is going through. No, no. If only for his sake, I won’t despair.)

[Don’t despair. If there is a chance, it is through him. Don’t ask me how, I have no idea.]

(If you aren’t so stuck up all the time, he’d like you more.)

[b#@$]

"I...I...."

Varian frowned as he faced the tide of darkness. Like a dark tsunami, it was about to devour him.

His paths weren’t working. The slivers weren’t responding.

It’s over!

"Haaa!" Varian jolted awake, breathing in the flower scent.

"Flowers?"

He’s in an aura-constructed room, floating somewhere in space. On a flower bed with strong healing properties.

"Samsara?" Varian whispered.

(Yes, it’s my idea! Are you feeling better now?) She said with pride.

Varian checked his body and circulated the aura. There was a strong blockade due to the hostile aura within, reducing most of his strength.

Even though Samsara and Logos were working together to expel it, it’s going to take a while.

Varian raised a brow. "Since when did Logos..."

[Shut up and get to work. It’s been six hours already.]

Varian glanced at the eyes in his soul and sighed. This bastard was definitely the one behind the explosion.

’The maker of the universe, huh.’

With a thought, the space around him distorted.

The burning capital of the Jai Empire, Silver City came into view. Its magnificent formations were burned to the ground. The ageless architecture was disfigured beyond repair.

Not a single resident was alive, as expected.

Instead, there were a bunch of divine rankers. They were all powerful rank 1s, the overlords throughout Eden.

Usually, they would act like they owned the heaven and earth, their arrogance knowing no bounds.

Now, they were scavenging the ruins, searching for treasures. None of them dared to venture into the palace at the center of the city, where the actual treasures lay.

The powerful mid rank 2 auras flickering from time to time prevented even the bravest of warriors from having such suicidal thoughts.

"Hades. Asherah. Ophion. And the low rank 2."

All of them were weaker than him. But now...

Varian sighed at his weakened condition and adopted a tight stealth.

A moment later, he stood in front of that massive structure.

The great palace’s barrier was gone. The most precious treasures of Jai Empire were open for taking.

It’s also the greatest relief for all divine rankers of the confederation.

For this was the ultimate proof that...

Thoren Aur Deus, no, God Emperor was dead.
