Chapter 1739: Aurora's Shock
Chapter 1739: Aurora's Shock
"Time out! Time out!" Aurora hid behind the bushes, waving a white flag.
Boom!
The bush was blown to smithereens, revealing scorched earth but no traces of the woman.
Aurora fled the moment the attack struck! While waving the white flag, she was already plotting an escape.
Sarah looked at the woman fleeing into the mountains and conjured a bow. "You little vixen! How dare you seduce my husband?! Come out and die!"
The arrow made of pure energy whistled through the air, cut a path open and reached the mountains.
And then.
Boom! Boom!
The great mountains were flatted into plains in a blink.
Aurora was looking back at Sarah with mouth agape. Not just her, the others were also staring at her silently.
Isadora stopped the chase first and was watching from the distance. Enigma too stopped after a while.
Even Sia, who should be the most pissed, looked at Sarah awkwardly.
'Wasn't this the same Sarah who green lit the date? And she convinced me, called it three to one. What the hell happened?'
Sarah didn't seem to be aware of the looks they were giving. She was just pissed. Deeply, mightily, incredibly pissed.
"I agreed only because you were going to leave forever." She muttered and took a jump.
Aurora couldn't leave in time and was frozen in place.
"If I knew you'd be saved, I'd have never agreed to the date."
Looking at Sarah who was practically spitting fire, Aurora titled her head and then said innocently. "…Then I will die?"
Sarah clenched her fist and raised it. Her aura rose to a dangerous level.
Isadora took a step forward, wanting to stop her, but Sia grabbed her hand and shook her head.
Aurora lowered her head in resignation. "Even though you're angry at me, I am very grateful for the gift. My life was saved by him. If you want to take it back, please do it. I can't hate you."
Sarah's chest heaved as she let out a deep breath and dispersed the attack. "You changed a lot."
Aurora gave an innocent smile. Who wouldn't change after a near death experience?
Enigma quietly restored the destroyed mountains and the bushes. Then, she left for somewhere.
"Alright, time for lunch." Varian appeared between Sarah and Aurora, clapping his hands.
Sarah turned to him sharply but he only gave a gentle smile and pinched her cheek. Her anger melted away and she pouted. "I am afraid you'll treat this as a trophy collection. There are too many vixens in Eden."
Varian lifted her up in a princess hug and signaled for Aurora to follow.
Aurora glared at him for not helping her, but the brother-in-law only chuckled.
He was clearly enjoying watching her in predicament! What a bad man!
Sarah didn't seem to mind their exchange as she muttered. "Just last week, that new rank 2 woman was practically throwing herself at your feet. Not a wife, not a concubine, just a maid! Hah! A rank 2 trying to be a maid?"
Sia and Isadora joined their walk back.
Sarah's topic ignited a spark and Sia chimed in. "She's the overseer of the whole jai region. Can't she at least have some shame? Yes, you are the supreme ruler, but still, a rank 2 wanting to be a maid, tsk tsk."
Varian shrugged. "The difference between a peak rank 2 and low rank 2 is wider than a low rank 2 and mortal level 1. The higher you are, the more obvious the gap.
And…"
He trailed off, looking into the distance with a solemn gaze.
Aurora felt that he was like a hawk searching its prey.
'He looks even cooler now. How did he change so much in a few days? And a female low rank 2? Wasn't Asherah the only one? A new one emerged in just a few days? What just happened during this time?'
Aurora's head was buzzing with questions.
Varian relaxed from his solemn state and said with a dry chuckle. "God Emperor impregnated too many women. Too many of Jai have him as an ancestor.
Maybe this woman is trying something similar. Even if that's not the case, if she can have my child, that alone will elevate her level, maid or not."
Isadora shook her head. "I get the idea of Emperor and harem. But God Emperor is too…"
What word could describe someone who had impregnated a woman per second? Nearly a hundred thousand children a day? Thirty million per year.
Of course, most of the children died off. But the last thousand years alone saw him father thirty billion people.
What the heck was that?
Was he jealous of Asherah's All-Mother title and was trying to be All-Father? Literally?
"It's not love. He won't seriously say he loves billions of women he impregnated. It's not lust either. He is after something else. I wonder what?"
"Hey, we're talking about something else!" Sia said, pulling her best friend for support.
Sarah nodded seriously. "Varian, don't go down that path. I can't bear to see you like that. Harem and concubines is fine if you really want that. Maids are also fine. Sia and I can pick you the prettiest ones.
But that…that abomination must never be allowed."
Varian laughed in confusion. "Come on, madam. Did I mention a harem? Concubines? Or maids? I don't really care about these things. Who I have, is more than enough."
Sarah bit her lip. "But the world…they keep saying that as the supreme ruler of Eden, you should have a harem befitting your status."
"Screw the world." Varian rolled his eyes. "If I have to follow what people say, am I their ruler or are they my ruler? You should stop taking these things seriously. If you keep this up, I'll have no choice but to keep you in bed for a month."
Sarah finally shut up.
"And Sia." Varian glared, causing his childhood sweetheart to stiffen. "Stop feeding her the gossip. And for your own sake, stop worrying.
I will warn Hazel to stop writhing those stupid novels. Every single one of them has male lead abandoning the wife for that same template maid.
She is crazy and she is driving you crazy! What a mess!"
Isadora chuckled. "You went into a seclusion for just five years and these two became like this. In the end, a senior is a senior. These two chicks don't have composure like I do. Our billion year experience is unmatched."
"Shut up, you old hen!" Sia said. "We were the ones overseeing Eden while you were lazing here. Of course, we'll be more shaken."
Sarah took a deep breath, calming herself. "Var is right. I'm just being paranoid."
"Sorry for not giving you time for the past few years. But once I am done with God's Eye, we'll have all the time together." Varian kissed her gently.
"F-Five years?" Aurora exclaimed. "What's going on?"
