Chapter 58
Chapter 58
“Shout three times,” he commanded.
“What?” Qin Yuxian’s tears abruptly halted in response to such a nonsensical request.
The alley was already dim, and the approaching figure emerged amidst the interplay of light and shadows, appearing as a dark mass. In Qin Yuxian’s eyes, the person resembled a terrifying ghost from the depths of hell. No distinct facial features were visible, only a pair of eyes glowing with a chilling red light.
“Shout.”
The voice, hoarse and eerie, echoed like a black crow perched on a withered tree in front of a haunted castle’s gate. It heightened the surrounding environment, immersing Qin Yuxian in an atmosphere of horror.
Terrifying.
Qin Yuxian trembled in fear, her voice quivering as she spoke through her lingering sobs.
“You are Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend.”
The man holding her was not satisfied.
“I can’t hear you.”
Qin Yuxian: ?
She coughed, clearing her choked throat that had become constricted from her earlier tears.
“You are Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend!”
“Louder.”
“You are Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend!”
“Even louder.”
“You! You are Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend!!!”
The shout, reminiscent of a military training, caused Qin Yuxian to stop crying and sniffle. She felt thirsty.
Yu Zuojin released his grip on her.
Qin Yuxian stomped her feet, ensuring that she had landed safely and no longer needed to worry.
She thought the other person would be satisfied with this and allow her to leave.
However, the next moment, Yu Zuojin’s voice whispered like a devil.
“Repeat what you just said, shout it three more times.”
Qin Yuxian: “…”
The resounding voice of a girl replaced the previous symphony of screams, echoing through the alley.
The petite figure, seething with anger, possessed the strength to move mountains and rivers.
The law of energy conservation stood firm under scrutiny; it truly existed.
Once those people finished their shouts, it was her turn to call out.
“You are Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend!!”
“You are Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend!!”
“You are Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend!!”
Yu Zuojin crossed his arms and listened beside her, finally muttering, “Enough.”
Qin Yuxian shrank her neck. “Brother, I’m too thirsty.”
Yu Zuojin ignored her and asked slowly, “Who are you?”
Qin Yuxian replied, “Qin Yuxian.”
“Are you Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend?”
The tone of that sentence was evidently off.
Qin Yuxian shivered.
Brother, please don’t hate me too much.
She shook her head vigorously, “No.”
“Then who is?”
“You are.”
“Shout.”
“Huh?”
Yu Zuojin glanced at her. “Shout.”
Qin Yuxian stood up straight, preparing herself.
“I am not Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend! You are!!”
“I am not Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend…”
“…”
After the shouting came to an end, Qin Yuxian truly felt drained of energy.
“Brother, I want to have some water.”
Yu Zuojin took out three yuan from his pocket and handed it to her.
It was all he had.
But it would suffice to buy water.
He didn’t linger; he dropped the money, turned around, and walked away.
Qin Yuxian hurriedly took a few steps to catch up. “Brother, thank you.”
Despite his harsh demands, the other person had saved her.
Yu Zuojin turned his head in the darkness.
Qin Yuxian quickly amended her words. “Thank you, Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend!”
“Don’t mention that I was here,” Yu Zuojin said.
Qin Yuxian nodded. “I understand, I understand.”
Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend is a hero.
Shortly after Yu Zuojin left, Sheng Yuan rode his bicycle to No. 12 Middle School. Coincidentally, Qin Yuxian’s friend managed to pull the security guard out of the security room.
When Sheng Yuan heard that Qin Yuxian had been taken into the alley, his expression turned serious, and the three of them rushed towards the alley without hesitation.
However, the dark alley was empty. Qin Yuxian’s friend fell to the ground, blaming herself.
“It’s all my fault, it’s all my fault!”
Tears filled her eyes instantly.
“If I had been braver and rushed in, Yuxian wouldn’t have been taken away.”
In the beginning, when Qin Yuxian was being bullied, she went to find her teacher. But the teacher didn’t believe her. She was afraid of getting hurt so she kept her distance. Now they only chat on WeChat.
In an effort to gather evidence, she had been secretly taking photos of those people for days, planning to post them on a forum. However, Qin Yuxian was afraid of retaliation, so she never allowed her to post them. No one could tell what would happen after retaliating.
The girl sat on the ground, wailing.
“She is my best friend!”
“The two of us have played together since childhood.”
“But I didn’t have the courage to save her.”
“If only I were braver, if only…”
The girl continued crying while sitting on the ground. Sheng Yuan helped her up. “Let’s go find her.”
Sheng Yuan’s previous cynicism vanished, replaced by anger radiating from his entire being.
“Let’s go.”
The girl stood up tremblingly, wiped away her tears, and went to find her friend with Sheng Yuan.
Just a few steps away, the door of the canteen across the street swung open. With a jingle, Qin Yuxian emerged, holding a bottle of mineral water. She was extremely thirsty, so she unscrewed the cap, shook the bottle, and drank the water greedily.
Sheng Yuan: “…”
Friend: “…”
Security Guard: “Are you girls drinking water like that nowadays?”
“No, it’s just…”
The girl struggled to express herself, touching her head and hiding her face.
It was Qin Yuxian drinking water. Why was she the one getting ashamed?
After shouting for so long, Qin Yuxian was dying of thirst. Fortunately, Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend still had some humanity left and gave her three yuan.
Qin Yuxian let out a happy “ha” and looked up to see the three people across the street.
Qin Yuxian: “…”
Both sides stared at each other, speechless.
Feeling a little embarrassed, Qin Yuxian approached when there were no cars on the street.
It was embarrassing, but seeing that Qin Yuxian was fine, her friend stepped forward to hug her.
“I thought those people took you away. It scared me to death!”
Qin Yuxian: “Someone saved me earlier.”
“Who?”
Sheng Yuan’s girlfriend.
But she couldn’t say that, and the other party didn’t want it mentioned. In the dark alley, Qin Yuxian only caught a glimpse of the other person’s face in the moonlight.
Though a bit fierce, it was clear he was a hot-tempered handsome guy.
“A kind-hearted person.”
Yu Zuojin sneezed on his way back to the barbecue restaurant.
He had to return to the back door of the store and wait for Sheng Yuan to pick him up.
“But those people won’t dare to trouble me again in the future.”
Qin Yuxian recalled Yu Zuojin’s brutal beatings, shivering and getting goosebumps all over her body. He seemed to derive pleasure from beating people to death, the more they screamed, the more excited he became.
Like some sort of pervert.
“That’s great. I’ll expose what Nian Xue and those vocational high school boys did to you on the forum. Let’s see who will protect her this time.”
Sheng Yuan stood by, while Qin Yuxian said, “Yes, I also want to clear Classmate Sheng Yuan’s name.”
Sheng Yuan’s had a “girlfriend”.
Qin Yuxian still had lingering fear in her heart. “Sheng Yuan, can the two of us take a photo with you? It’ll discourage them from retaliating in the future.”
It was a small favor, and Sheng Yuan didn’t mind.
Qin Yuxian being fine was more satisfying than anything else.
The boy stood in the middle, with a girl on his left and another on his right. The security guard gestured for a long time before finally taking their picture.
In the photo, the teenagers smiled brightly.
“I’ll post what Nian Xue and the others did to the forum right away.”
Filled with righteous indignation, the girl wrote about the incidents of Nian Xue and the vocational high school boys bullying Qin Yuxian in the past few days, including the causes and effects.
The final paragraph read: “I am an ordinary friend with Sheng Yuan, a classmate from No.1 Middle School.”
Within two minutes of posting, the thread already had over 100 comments.
“Nian Xue is so shameless this year. Why don’t those boys from the vocational high school disappear?”
“Bringing people from other schools to bully our classmates, and No.12 Middle school just watches.”
“Is the landlord who posted okay now?”
“I don’t believe that the school leaders won’t investigate when it’s exposed directly by the teacher who’s protecting them.”
“Damn! Being ordinary friends with Sheng Yuan is awesome.”
“The landlord is really friends with Sheng Yuan! I’m in awe!”
“Why is Nian Xue so out of control this year?”
“A sweet girl in front of others, but a little demon behind their backs. You understand the concept of being two-faced.”
“Hey, how can people be like that?”
“We have all the evidence. Let’s call the police!”
“Friends with Sheng Yuan! Fuck!”
“The photo really is Sheng Yuan!”
“He’s so handsome. How can someone look that good with an ordinary camera?”
“We have to find a way to go on a date with him.”
Sheng Yuan checked the time on his phone. He had to meet Yu Zuojin.
“Let’s go for now. Contact me if you need help.”
He and Qin Yuxian had added each other on WeChat the day before.
“Thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me. I didn’t do much.”
Sheng Yuan didn’t linger and left, walking against the evening wind. When he arrived at the back door of the barbecue restaurant, he was two minutes later than usual.
Yu Zuojin stood at the entrance of the alley, hands in his pockets. His appearance and physique made him noticeable from afar.
Sheng Yuan pulled over the bicycle in front of Yu Zuojin.
“Let’s go, I’ll take you back to school,” he said.
Yu Zuojin glanced at the back seat but made no move.
Sheng Yuan raised an eyebrow. “Why aren’t you getting in?”
“I won’t sit in the back,” Yu Zuojin replied.
Confused, Sheng Yuan asked, “What do you mean?”
Yu Zuojin muttered to himself, “You have a girlfriend.”
He seemed to have a sense of propriety.
Most people wouldn’t sit in the back seat of someone with a girlfriend.
Although he didn’t go on the bike, Yu Zuojin didn’t leave either.
Sheng Yuan chuckled. “Who told you I have a girlfriend?”
Yu Zuojin remained silent.
“I helped someone yesterday. She was being bullied, so I didn’t deny it, but we’re just ordinary friends.”
After setting up his bicycle, Sheng Yuan walked up to Yu Zuojin.
“I’m telling the truth. Don’t you believe me?”
Yu Zuojin avoided looking at Sheng Yuan’s face, afraid that his resolve would weaken, so he looked away with a cold expression.
Sheng Yuan observed Yu Zuojin’s profile carefully and realized that he was quite good-looking. Among all the people he had met, Yu Zuojin was the most handsome in his eyes.
His eyelashes were longer than Sheng Yuan had imagined. When viewed from the front, Yu Zuojin’s facial features were strikingly strong, yet they harmonized perfectly. Each individual aspect seemed meticulously crafted.
“I came here to pick you up. Won’t you come with me?” Sheng Yuan’s voice brushed against Yu Zuojin’s ears, almost causing him to take a step forward involuntarily. However, he resisted the urge.
“You’re late,” Yu Zuojin stated.
Sheng Yuan replied, deliberately using an aggrieved tone, “So you won’t wait for me?”
How could he not wait?
Yu Zuojin felt a sense of agitation, as if he had been scratched in a sensitive spot.
Unable to hold back, he said, “Wait.”
After speaking, his expression darkened, realizing that he shouldn’t have given in so easily.
Sheng Yuan had arrived two minutes late today because he had gone to Qin Yuxian first.
“You’re angry because I went to her before coming to you,” Sheng Yuan guessed.
Yu Zuojin didn’t respond directly, but it seemed like he did.
Sheng Yuan couldn’t understand why the other person would be upset over such a trivial matter.
He was usually quite aloof, yet he was now angry for no apparent reason.
Sheng Yuan clasped his hands together and whispered in Yu Zuojin’s ear, “I’m only pretending with her, but with you, it’s real.”
Author’s note:
Boss Yu: I want to show her who the real girlfriend is.
