Dungeon of Lust: Managing Otherworldly Beauties

Chapter 185: Scent of Greed

Chapter 185: Scent of Greed

’Oh no.’

Vale studied the mini Mias’s face as it contorted into an expression of unease he didn’t think it could.

Then, the tiny man said slowly:

"Vale... you might want to get over here. To the entrance, I mean."

With that, mini Mias evaporated and left the dazed Master of Lust behind.

’Shit...’

Vale began running through the dungeon, ordering all imps and nearby warriors, and Sivian to guard the path to the core. With their lives if necessary.

Then, he found Awilix and Toy and ordered them to follow him.

The two were confused, but that was until the trio entered the maze and a cold presence wafted into their very souls.

The scent of Greed.

Vale picked up the pace, sprinting toward the entrance, praying Salome didn’t attack Greed, nor Greed attack them. But as he got closer, he felt something in his mind bloom...

But just as quickly as it sprouted, the insidious presence vanished.

’What was that?!’

Though if Vale wanted to make sense of anything, he knew his mind would not be settled until he knew the facts of the situation.

Vale focused on putting one foot in front of the other until he rounded the final corner.

In the stretch that led to the entrance, Vale saw...

’What in the absolute hell is going on...? Huh?’

Greed, in her characteristic yellow dress, stood with an effervescent look on her face as she dragged Thirty-One around by the ankle with one hand.

In her other hand, she held a murky vial.

The glow of a Vice was absent from her eyes as she lay a path of gold before her.

’Is she suppressing her power?’

Yet, it didn’t feel like that at all. Vale could feel every hair stand on end and every instinct begging him to flee...

Sadly, fleeing simply wasn’t a possibility in this situation.

Salome was also before him, in a golden cage.

Toy muttered softly when she spotted the succubus.

"Master..."

Not only was she in a cage, but something was wrong with her.

Salome’s eyes had been consumed with a murderous frenzy as she tore at the gold bars.

Like all of her maturity and reason had been stripped away.

The surviving warriors from Level 8 were also present, but all of them were unconscious on the stone floor.

Greed stared at him and waved with the hand holding Thirty-One, flinging the poor spy all about.

"Lust! Oh, how I am glad to see you!"

Vale slowed his pace while studying the situation, then said:

"Hello, Greed. What is your business here?"

Awilix was about to let off some heinous insult, but Vale managed to stop her in time.

Greed laughed, then stopped flinging Thirty-One, who had blood dribbling from her head.

"I was sightseeing and decided I’d visit a friend. Take a look-see around his home. And might I say, what a beautiful location this is. I’ve heard that the Scar was huge, but to think it’s greater than the Grand Canyon?! That was truly a shock! And that waterfall? It’s second in height only to Victoria Falls! Truly a splendid spot you’ve been gifted."

’Since when were we friends?’

Greed laughed and covered her mouth with a partially bloodied hand as she threw the body of Thirty-One forward.

The warrior was still alive, but barely.

Vale chose his words carefully as he continued to approach Greed.

"Is that so? Well, why is she like that?"

Vale pointed to the caged Salome.

Greed laughed, then summoned a throne and sat down.

"Ah, sorry about that! She spooked me when I walked in, and I accidentally let a little of my authority slip. Oops! But, don’t worry, she’ll go back to normal in a few minutes."

Vale’s eyes narrowed as he studied his rabid Champion and took the last few steps until he stood at the end of the golden-plated floor.

"And what of the pale guy? Where’s he?"

Greed smiled, then lifted up the vial in her hand.

"Smokey? Right here. I noticed this snack watching me, so I decided to snatch him up!"

’Snack?’

Vale’s eyes fell upon Thirty-One, who was barely holding onto consciousness and fighting to stand up.

"Would you mind letting him out?"

Greed sighed with a shrug.

"I wanted to take him home with me, but if my good friend insists on it, I’ll let him go."

Vale scowled as he watched ashy smoke pour out of the tube, then pool together and form the small man who tumbled to the floor with a scared look on his face.

Mias shook his head, then stood up and muttered:

"I really hate being put in tubes..."

Vale, seeing that Mias was alright, looked down at Thirty-One and then over at the unconscious warriors of Lust. Before he could even ask a question, Greed spoke.

"Sorry for my uncouth entrance... I’m usually a demure and classy woman, but I saw a rat and couldn’t let go of the anger of a born and raised city girl."

Vale kicked Thirty-One’s head down and planted a foot on her back, then said:

"I guess there goes the element of surprise."

’Might as well confirm it.’

There was no use trying to get any information from her anyway. It’s not like the warrior would reveal anything.

Vale drew a sword from [Nexus of Beginnings], then slid it into the warrior’s head.

A moment later, the beasts’ form wobbled and wiggled into a mass of green goop, then slid into the ground alongside an announcement.

[You have slain Emergent Warrior of Envy]

[+5 Aether]

"As I thought..."

Greed reeled back with a look of feigned apologies.

"Oh, my! You knew? To think I just foiled your plot like that. Oh, heavens, I am toats sorry! Oops! I meant ’totally’ sorry!"

Vale put the sword back into the subspace and studied Greed’s slender face.

’Well, it was going to happen sooner or later.’

Too bad they didn’t get to use the spy to their full advantage.

"Well, Greed, welcome to the Dungeon of Lust."

’Now, please leave...’
