Chapter 3074: Sunveil
Chapter 3074: Sunveil
The clash tore through the desert, sending waves of force across the golden dunes. Sand exploded outward, while the sky above them warped and flickered under the pressure of their collision. Sparks of raw flame scattered in every direction, burning brightly before fading into the air.
Ilyndra showed no surprise at Emery’s ability to withstand her attacks.
She simply kept coming.
A third strike.
Then a fourth.
A fifth.
Each attack was faster and heavier than the last, her movements carrying the relentless pressure of a Supreme who had no concern for defense. There was no hesitation in her expression, no anger, and no emotion at all. She attacked with the cold efficiency of a creature that only cared about tearing its prey apart.
Emery blocked every one.
The sixth strike came from above.
He raised Excalibur just in time, the javelin crashing against the divine blade and forcing his arms downward before he redirected the force to the side.
The seventh swept toward his waist.
He twisted aside and caught it with the flat of his blade.
The eighth came almost immediately after, forcing him to retreat several steps across the sand.
By the tenth exchange, Emery’s arms had gone numb.
His fingers tightened around Excalibur as he fought to maintain his grip. Every collision sent another wave of force through his body, and even with more than five thousand points of battle power supporting him, the difference between his physical foundation and that of a genuine Supreme was becoming impossible to ignore.
His body was powerful enough to stand against almost any Grand Magus.
But a Supreme was still on another level.
A few strikes later, Excalibur itself began to resist his Khaos energy.
The divine blade trembled violently in his grip, its golden surface flickering as if the weapon were rejecting the chaotic power being forced through it. The more Emery pushed, the stronger the resistance became. Even a divine weapon had its limits, and the nature of Khaos was simply too destructive and unpredictable for Excalibur to accept without consequence.
Emery already had the solution prepared.
It was something he had been practicing specifically for this moment, an ability he had spent considerable time refining before leaving for Tartarus. The confidence it gave him was also one of the reasons he had been willing to leave the Gravestone Ruler with his dark avatar instead of bringing it with him.
His hand tightened around Excalibur.
Then the artifact on his left arm awakened.
Elysian Vembrace.
The power of the Elysian Tree surged through the artifact and into his left arm, covering it in verdant green plants, while Khaos energy continued to flood through his right arm, reinforcing the stirring Star-Devouring Primal Energy. The two forces were fundamentally different, yet Emery had spent enough time practicing their combination that he could now maintain the delicate balance between them.
For a moment, the two energies collided within him.
Then the Dao of Heaven and Earth intervened.
The opposing forces began to harmonize, their violent fluctuations settling into a strange balance before flowing into Excalibur together. The sword’s trembling gradually stopped, its resistance disappearing as though it had finally found an acceptable path for the overwhelming energy.
Emery’s eyes sharpened.
BAAAMM!!!
Excalibur met the incoming javelin once more.
This time, Emery didn’t budge.
The collision erupted with enough force to flatten the surrounding dunes, sending a circular shockwave racing across the desert. Ilyndra’s solar flames exploded outward, yet Emery stood within the center of the blast, his body wrapped in the intertwined powers of Khaos and the Elysian Tree.
The battle continued.
One exchange became ten.
Ten became twenty.
Then thirty.
Emery held his ground through every one of them, but each exchange pushed him closer to his limit. Ilyndra’s attacks were becoming increasingly savage, her javelin no longer moving like a simple weapon but like a fragment of the sun itself.
Every thrust seemed capable of piercing the heavens.
Some strikes erupted into hundreds of scorching spear projections halfway through their trajectory. Others curved around Emery from impossible angles, following the sunlight itself as though the entire battlefield had become an extension of her weapon.
To keep pace, Emery finally unfolded his own battlefield domain.
The surrounding space twisted beneath his control, distances bending subtly around his body and giving him the ability to resist the Supreme’s dominating restraints while weaving Rift Steps directly into the rhythm of Ilyndra’s assault. Instead of simply dodging her attacks, he stepped through the distorted space between them, appearing beside her one moment before retreating dozens of meters away the next.
Even then, Ilyndra continued to track him.
Her javelin swept across the sky, dragging a curtain of solar flames behind it.
Emery blocked.
She thrust again.
The javelin changed direction mid-flight and followed him.
He barely caught it with Excalibur.
The impact sent him skidding across the desert.
Ilyndra didn’t give him even a moment to breathe.
Then, eventually, she changed tactics.
She stopped attacking.
For the first time since the battle began, Ilyndra lowered her javelin and slowly raised both palms toward the sky.
The entire battlefield fell strangely silent.
The sunlight above them began to intensify.
Emery looked up.
His expression hardened.
A colossal projection slowly emerged behind Ilyndra, towering over the desert like a divine incarnation descending from the heavens. It was an enormous image of the Supreme herself, but magnified to a terrifying scale, her dark skin glowing beneath a layer of golden radiance as though her entire body had become the vessel of a miniature sun.
Then the nine suns appeared.
One after another, nine blazing spheres materialized around the projection, each one enormous enough to turn the surrounding desert into daylight brighter than noon. They slowly orbited her in a vast, deliberate ring, their surfaces churning with storms of golden fire.
The temperature rose instantly.
Sand beneath Emery’s feet began to melt into glass.
Even the distant dunes started glowing red beneath the overwhelming heat.
This was a Supreme-level spell, something beyond Emery’s current capabilities.
