Chapter 1522 1522: Hunting in the Forest
Chapter 1522 1522: Hunting in the Forest
Adam stayed in his inner space for quite a long time. His conversation with Silvana and his acquaintance with the Ancient Flux took quite a while.
But, in the real world, just over a minute had passed.
Still, that was more than enough time for the Head Golem to restore his arm and for Alexia to try unsuccessfully to pass through the barrier.
Bam.
Alexia and the Head Golem's fists collided as the impact ran through her body, throwing her aside once again.
"You're doing it wrong," Adam leaned on his hand, sitting on a rock to the side.
"Shut up!" Alexia jumped to her feet. "What do you think I should do? Lose my power and almost die as you did? Even if I'm ready for it, I'm not going to repeat after you! I'll find my own solution!"
Adam shrugged.
"That's the spirit, but you've been getting hit over and over for an hour. I'm bored."
The Head Golem looked at Alexia.
"Young lady... Maybe he's right. If you couldn't feel the ancient energy after so many blows, then either you're not ready yet... or this method doesn't work for you..."
Alexia's eyes flashed with a wild flame.
"WHAT? He just got lucky! And I'm unlucky! That's it! Sooner or later, I'll get it! I'll never let bad luck get in my way!"
The Head Golem had no choice but to shrug and continue their long practice.
Every Phantom who wanted to reach the Second Rank had to obtain the Ancient Energy at some point. Now, both Adam and Alexia understood that.
Obviously, Alexia couldn't afford to fall behind. She was ready to do whatever it took to stand on equal footing with Adam again.
'Huh...' Adam smiled inwardly as he looked at Alexia. 'She blames her failure on everything, although I wouldn't say she has a problem with that. Well, if that belief helps her find her boundless motivation, then there's nothing wrong with that, right?'
Thump!
After Alexia's latest defeat, Adam turned to the Head Golem.
"Hey, is there a place around here where I can find food? I'm talking about the ridge, not the Frost Oasis."
The Head Golem was puzzled by this question.
"Food...? Are you really hungry? You just arrived in these lands, didn't you?"
Adam waved his hand.
"Yeah, I'm a little hungry and cold. Is there a problem with that?"
The Head Golem was silent for a moment before pointing toward the forest where Adam and Alexia had ended up after their encounter with the ice wyvern.
"You can find everything you need in the forest... Although..." The Head Golem looked at the giant worm's corpse. "What's stopping you from eating this monster?"
Adam glanced away as he shook his head.
"Nah, it might sound strange, but I don't want to eat that worm. I fought it to defeat it, as a warrior against a monster, not as a hunter against a beast."
Before the Head Golem could respond, Adam stood up and strode confidently toward the forest.
Part of it was visible from this side of the Frost Ridge.
"I'll be back soon. Hopefully, Alexia will have made some progress by then."
Alexia clenched her fist.
"Of course! I'm almost there, and I'll see it! I'm sure of it!"
The Head Golem had a different opinion on the matter. He was neither their enemy nor their ally. His task was either to drive them away or let them pass at the Frost Oasis. So, he had no choice but to continue sparring with Alexia.
Sure, Adam could destroy the barrier, and he might even be able to take Alexia with him. He wasn't sure about that.
But he knew for sure that it was a bad idea.
'If the Head Golem stopped us, then without the ancient energy, there is no point in going to the Frost Oasis. Until Alexia gets that power, only death awaits her down there. Her end... that's not something I want to be responsible for.'
A few months ago, when Adam first learned about the World Wipe, he would have tried to do everything as quickly as possible, using every second he had.
Now, he saw nothing wrong with giving Alexia time to progress at her own pace.
Thus, Adam left Frost Ridge and soon found himself at the edge of the forest. He didn't know if the white beasts that had attacked them earlier were here, but he was sure he would soon find a worthy opponent.
"Hmm..." Adam looked around, caught off guard.
No one was watching him, neither ravens nor ordinary beasts. It seemed that the forest was empty, although Adam knew that this was not the case.
"Am I unlucky, or are they avoiding me? Although maybe they, like that wyvern, sensed our teleportation here and therefore surrounded us?"
In fact, Adam had one way to attract attention. He didn't usually use it because problems always found him, but he knew what he had to do.
If he released his energy, there would definitely be a monster that would want to take up the challenge to gain that power for itself.
But before resorting to this method, Adam had another idea.
"What would happen if, instead of the star energy, I released the ancient energy?"
Over the past ten minutes, he had only recovered a small portion of the Ancient Flux, like a few drops.
"That should be enough." Adam clenched his fist and closed his eyes.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
A light stream of gray-purple energy came out of his body, covering him with a thin layer. It resembled a calm current rather than the wild flames when Adam released his energy earlier.
Still, the depth of this energy was enough to arouse the interest of some monsters.
Adam heard something or someone approaching, but he continued to release his energy.
Soon, he opened his eyes as he smiled at the great wolf slowly moving toward him.
"It's time to become a hunter, that's what Damien said, right?"
