Chapter 1523 1523: Her Way
Thump!
Alexia's back slammed into the rock as blood gushed from her mouth. She had already endured more than thirty blows from the Head Golem, who was holding nothing back.
"Young lady... your endurance and will to succeed are impressive... but some barriers in this world cannot be broken down by desire alone. You cannot achieve your goal just by trying many times in a row... You need to think about the solution..."
It was great advice, not only for Alexia, but for every person in this world, whether they were a Phantom, a monster, or an ordinary human.
But... Alexia hardly heard even a tenth of it.
She frowned, stood up while a trickle of blood ran down her forehead, and pointed at the Head Golem.
"You."
"Hmm?"
Alexia frowned.
"You're useless, aren't you?"
In the hundreds of years that the Head Golem had spent in this place, it was the first time he had heard this question. Even a monster as old and experienced as he was didn't know how to respond to it.
"Tsk, I knew it!" Alexia snorted. "It wasn't you who helped Adam understand what ancient energy is, in fact, he did all the work! You're not needed here at all!"
Out of anger at the time wasted and the punches she had received, Alexia stomped aggressively on the ground.
The Head Golem was stunned. He wasn't sure if the girl in front of him was healthy or sick.
"Tsk. All you need to understand what ancient energy is is the ancient energy itself. As soon as Adam saw it, he did it right away!"
With a confident stride, Alexia headed straight for the barrier.
The Head Golem began to understand what she was going to do.
"Wait, you already tried that. You failed... The barrier will just throw you aside..."
However, instead of attacking the barrier or running into it as Alexia had done before, she stopped right in front of it and took a deep breath.
"I know it, you stupid stone. That's why I'm going to do everything slowly, because this barrier is made of ancient energy, right?"
The Head Golem nodded.
"Yes, part of it."
Alexia grinned.
"Great, that's what I need. I told you, I'll find my way!"
Step.
She stepped forward, colliding with the barrier.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
A tremor ran through the barrier, and as before, it tried to throw Alexia back, but since she was moving slowly and not using any force at all, the barrier didn't have enough momentum.
Alexia's eyes widened when part of her face was inside the barrier. It was as if she were passing through an extremely dense stream of water that was trying to push her out. After all, it was energy, not a steel wall.
For the first time ever, she saw it, the gray-purple flows, she was in the middle of them.
'One more step... then another and I'll pass through the barrier,' she thought, but her body refused to move.
Moreover, soon her face contorted in pain as the ancient energy enveloped her from all sides.
She felt the alien energy trying to penetrate her inner space.
"Tsk, so that's why Adam got rid of his energy... Hah, I already said I'm not going to repeat after him!" Alexia gritted her teeth and took the next step as most of her body passed through the barrier.
The pain became brighter and more intense, causing her pupils to tremble.
"GHA!" She spat out a mouthful of blood and collapsed onto one knee, but she didn't allow herself to pass out.
She felt that she was close to her goal. Especially after what happened next.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
Alexia's Evolution Tree began to shake violently, seemingly ready to break apart from the pressure on all sides.
The logical decision would be to step out of the barrier and analyze the situation, but Alexia already understood everything.
"Hah, so you have nowhere to go, right?" She smirked as she prepared to take the next step. "Come on, be my guest... take any seat you like!"
Stomp!
The moment her foot hit the ground, the pressure became so strong that a crack opened in the middle of her Evolution Tree.
Part of her energy came out, scattering in the darkness as the gray-purple flows immediately headed for the vacant space.
Alexia smiled contentedly as she watched her Ancient Flux form.
It took her much longer than it did for Adam, but she was glad she was able to do it in her own way.
"I told you I could do it!" Alexia exclaimed when she found herself on the other side of the barrier.
The Head Golem scratched the back of his head. He couldn't deny that Alexia was right, but he couldn't consider it a legitimate method.
"Young lady... You were just lucky... If your body hadn't been so resilient and your will hadn't been so strong... You would have passed out and died from the powerful pressure..."
The Head Golem slowly ran his hand through the air.
"What you did is like treating a fracture with a hammer... hoping that after the strike, the bone will fall into place..."
Alexia narrowed her eyes with a furious expression.
"You're really useless! Is it so hard to admit that you were wrong? It wasn't luck! I did everything right, and that's it!"
The Head Golem stared at her for a long time. She tapped her foot nervously, waiting for his answer, but in the end, the Head Golem just turned away, pretending she wasn't there.
"WHAT?! Don't you dare pretend I'm not here! Asshole!"
Step. Step. Step.
Footsteps sounded from the side, causing the Head Golem and Alexia to turn around. They froze in place, looking at Adam, who had returned from his hunt.
Part of his face was covered in blood, a slight smile played on his face, and on his shoulder was a huge white wolf, whose broken claws had left three deep scratches on Adam's chest.
Adam looked at Alexia, who was behind the barrier, and pointed at the wolf.
"Hey, I brought our dinner. Looks like it'll be our last before the oasis!"
