Chapter 1546: Falling Ice (Part 2)
Chapter 1546: Falling Ice (Part 2)
When Adam first used his combined ability with Silvana, it became one of the most important milestones on their journey. There was no doubt about that. Back then, he defeated Arnoth, and it was one of the battles he was most proud of.
It led him to the Dark Shore and opened a new Chapter in his path. Sure, the Evolution Vein did not influence the First Star’s decision to transport Adam to the Dark Shore, but if it weren’t for Silvana’s powers, Arnoth would have definitely won.
Adam understood that.
Since then, he had only seen someone use the Evolution Vein together with the Operator once. It was Fromund and Arayna, but Adam only found out about it later because at that moment, he was engrossed in the battle against Bathild.
Now, the moment had come to see something like that again, the power that Alexia and Louis would show to deal with the real horde of zombie monsters attacking them from all sides.
Adam wanted to rush to their aid, but now there was no anxiety in his eyes, it had given way to curiosity.
He wanted to see what power Alexia and Louis possessed, not only because it would be the second Evolution Vein Order he would see, but because their situation was different from Adam and Fromund’s.
Louis was a man, and Alexia was a woman. Even if they were still the Operator and Phantom, it definitely affected their union compared to Adam and Fromund, where the Operators were women.
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
The frost torrents rose around Alexia, forcing the monsters to retreat. However, it wasn’t enough.
Although the first line of monsters, the weakest of them, turned into ice statues, the others just stepped forward, breaking them in their path. Their goal was to reach Alexia at any cost.
But, at that moment, Louis, who was hugging Alexia tightly from behind with his eyes closed, sprang into action.
He slowly raised his head, opened his eyes, and waved his right hand.
Whooooooooosh!
That was enough to cause a violent blizzard and force the monsters to take a step back. No one, not even the biggest and strongest, was able to resist.
Louis did not activate his ability together with Alexia, as Adam and Silvana did. He was the one who protected her and bought her time while she prepared for the real attack.
"Bastards..." Alexia exhaled cold breath as her eyes flashed brightly. "Do you think that because there are many of you, you can defeat me? You are nothing!"
With a tremor, more than a dozen portals opened in the mist rings at the top of the cave. The monsters raised their eyes to look at the swirling mist that soon formed ice crystals.
In a split second, the ice crystals grew dozens of times larger, reaching the edges of the mist rings like floating glaciers from a magical world.
The smartest monsters rushed to the sides, realizing what was about to happen, but it was too late.
"DIEEEEE!" Alexia shouted as she waved her hand.
At her command, the ice crystals rained down on the monsters. Before the first crystals could reach their target, the mist rings created more that soon crashed to the ground as well.
There were five such volleys in total, each retaining the power of the previous one.
This was the limit for both the mist rings and Alexia, her gaze becoming exhausted after just a second.
"GRH!"
The monster roared as the first ice crystal crashed into it.
THUMP!
The crystal crushed the large monster, leaving only a bloody stain and a paw in its place, its fingers twitching several times.
This fate awaited every monster, without exception.
BAM! BAM! BAM!
One ice crystal after another fell to the ground, bringing with it at least several deaths.
Adam stood aside and watched what was happening with wide eyes. It was a fascinating sight for him.
It was definitely a powerful ability that easily killed several hundred Black Threat Monsters, yet it was very different from what he and Silvana possessed.
"Hah, so one attack and nothing remains of the enemy army?" Adam muttered, looking around.
A few seconds ago, countless monsters were ready to tear Alexia to pieces, but now she was surrounded only by dozens of giant ice crystals, each crushing several monsters beneath it.
"Agh... Agh... Agh..."
Alexia breathed heavily as she sank to one knee. Louis hugged her one last time before disappearing into his spectral form.
Despite how much energy she had expended on this attack, Alexia couldn’t help but hide the smirk growing on her face.
"Tsk, you shouldn’t have even come out against me! You didn’t stand a chance in the first place! I’m too strong!"
Step.
Adam stepped forward, standing in front of Alexia. She raised her head as he held out his hand to her.
"Good job. I’m even a little jealous. You defeated over a hundred opponents while I was fighting just one."
She got to her feet and glanced toward where Adam’s battle had ended.
Now, instead of the fearsome Phantom that had almost forced Alexia to use her trump cards, there were only scattered flesh shreds on the ground.
"Well... It seems that your one opponent was more than worthy of the fight. However, you didn’t have to use your trump card."
Adam shrugged.
"If a hundred monsters had come at me, I would have done the same. Now."
His expression became more serious.
"What’s more important is the tree."
Step.
Adam stepped forward, preparing to destroy the azure tree. They should have done this from the beginning, and that way, they would have avoided the battle. They didn’t know what this harmless-looking tree was capable of.
"Wait."
Suddenly, Alexia stopped him.
"Huh?" Adam gave her a puzzled look.
Alexia moved forward alone, her energy remaining calm, and no weapon appearing in her hands.
"I can feel it, Adam. The Ancient Frost originates from this tree. I will not destroy it, I will absorb it, right now!"
