Chapter 1611 1611: Only Way (Part 1)
Tap.
Zargos placed Adam on a stone platform in the backyard of his house and sat down on a rock nearby. He watched every change in Adam's face and expression, needing to know when to act in case of failure.
Sure, whatever trump card Adam might use, it wasn't strong enough to even scratch Zargos, but Zargos wasn't afraid of him, but of the First Star's energy that was inside Adam.
It could harm both him and Merra, so he had to remain vigilant, even though it was far from his style.
"Nothing happened," Merra put her hand to her chest. "Is that how it should be?"
"Who knows? Do you think I've seen many K4-Phantoms at this stage that had the Dark Energy? Only when it's all over will we be able to understand what happened fully."
"Still..."
A shadow fell across his face, hiding his eyes.
"I believe in that little bastard. All I've heard about him is that he's one of the top candidates to become the next Second Rank Phantom. You know how few there are compared to us, the Lords."
His eyes narrowed.
"This is all happening right before the World Wipe, in the years with the lowest energy levels, in the last peaceful ones."
Merra knew what Zargos was talking about, and although she agreed with him, she wasn't sure Adam could do it. There were too many variables about which none of them knew.
All they could do was wait and hope that Zargos's risk would pay off, as it always had before.
In some ways, he and Adam were similar, but this time, Adam himself didn't fully understand what was at stake.
...
No matter how Zargos and Merra felt, the one who was really struggling right now was Adam.
Dark Silvana was strong on her own, but Adam couldn't use any of his abilities, only energy remained under his control.
But now, his opponent was not only Dark Silvana, but the Silver Weaver. Technically, it was a 2 vs. 1 fight, but the Silver Weaver took his weapon form, just as he always did for Adam, only now they were on opposite sides.
"Remember what power only I have? Is that what he said?" Adam frowned, pondering the Silver Weaver's words. "Tsk, what does that even mean? All the power here belongs to me, but I can't use any of it!"
Step.
Dark Silvana took a step forward, and Adam no longer had time to think.
She leaped forward, her speed as impressive as ever, but Adam feared not her, but her weapon. He could defeat Dark Silvana with an energy blast, he had done it before, but now everything was different.
'The dark needle? Why did he never show me that he could take that form?' Adam wondered as Dark Silvana appeared in front of him.
Whooooosh!
The dark blade whizzed past his eyes as he jumped back. She lunged after him, intending to grab him by the neck, but Adam reacted in time.
"Too slow!" He reflected her wrist with a sideways blow.
BAM!
From the turn, Adam's fist plunged into Dark Silvana's stomach. It was just a clone, but it reacted to all actions the same way, just like wounds.
Thus, Dark Silvana almost doubled over from the force of Adam's strike, but managed to stay on her feet.
'Shit! She managed to stay on her feet!'
Adam was about to jump back, but something caught his attention.
Twitch.
The dark needle trembled, and in the next moment, heat spread from his left side.
Blood gushed from his shoulder as Adam struggled to comprehend what had happened.
"Just for a split second, no... much faster than that, did that needle lengthen?" Adam exclaimed to himself.
With difficulty, he saw how, after a brief tremor, the dark needle turned into an elongated shadow that pierced his shoulder like an elongated spear.
Adam was unable to perform such an attack with any of the many needles he had on his path.
Dark Silvana couldn't speak, but the Silver Weaver was a different case.
"What happened, Adam?" His voice came from the trembling needle. "Did this speed exceed all your expectations? That's not all! You haven't even seen a small part of it!"
Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.
At the same moment, the needle trembled more violently as the black flame burst forth from the blade.
Dark Silvana raised the needle high above her head before bringing it down on Adam in one wide swing.
A chill ran down Adam's spine as the white flame covered his legs, giving him strength. He had to move quickly if he wanted to survive.
Whooooooooosh.
The dark crescent burst from the needle, cutting through everything in its path, even the simple emptiness that surrounded them.
The destructive flow swept past Adam as he managed to dodge the blow at the last moment.
"Agh... Agh... Agh..."
He was breathing heavily, his knees trembling as he slowly raised his head.
"What the...?"
His eyes widened in disbelief as he stared at the great chasm that had opened up in the void. Dark Silvana had cut through space itself, but what awaited them beyond this domain?
Nothing.
But it wasn't darkness that stretched endlessly into the distance, but a bright white light. It was the same void, but on the other side.
Adam's pupils narrowed as the Silver Weaver's words echoed in his mind, over and over.
"Only my power..." He gulped as the realization struck him.
Dark Silvana turned, standing against the backdrop of the white chasm as her needle trembled again, preparing for the next attack.
This time, Adam wasn't going to run. He understood what he needed to do, or at least he had one idea.
He took a battle stance, bringing one arm back and holding his palm tightly like a blade meant to pierce everything in its path.
'I've never done this without a needle before, but... who said this was my needle's ability?'
His eyes became deeper and calmer, like a wise ocean.
'The only important part of my path is myself!'
