Chapter 1612 1612: Only Way (Part 2)

Zargos watched Adam closely for any changes, and besides the twitching of his facial muscles, something new began to happen.

"Hmm?" Zargos raised an eyebrow when Adam calmed down. He no longer tossed and turned as if in a nightmare, but remained calm as if in a peaceful sleep.

Still, his aura reflected something completely different.

'It's growing,' Zargos noted as his eyes narrowed. 'This is bad and good at the same time. It means he's fighting, maybe even winning, but... this is the First Star's energy, we're unlikely to be able to hide it.'

It was a difficult task, but Zargos had to try.

"Merra, we must hide his aura."

"Yes!" Merra set to work immediately.

She folded her palms together as the red orb expanded outward, first covering her hands, then herself, and spreading further until the transparent, red dome covered the backyard of the house.

It did not affect Adam, but it should hide his aura at least partially.

Zargos did not put up a barrier, but with a wave of his hand, he released a clump of crimson flame that became part of Merra's dome and significantly strengthened it.

"Hmm..." He hummed thoughtfully. "This is a good barrier. Even if Adam used all his trump cards at once, not a drop of his aura would leak out, but considering that we are talking about the Dark Energy. Tsk, it seems that problems are inevitable."

Right now, neither Adam nor the two of them was in any danger, but it was unknown what awaited them after Adam awoke.

The surge of Dark Energy was not something a powerful monster could ignore. It was a flame in the darkness, visible for many kilometers.

"Well, we'll think about problems as they come, won't we?" Zargos muttered.

"Sir, maybe we should contact someone from the clan, or better yet, your sister?"

Strangely enough, Zargos responded with a smirk on his face.

"Uh? You want her to see my surprise ahead of time? Nah, no way. I want to see her expression when she realizes that I'm stronger than her again, right before the election for clan head! Hahaha!"

Then, darkness covered his face as his aura made Merra's heart stop for a moment.

"Don't worry about the rest. Adam will handle his task, and if anyone comes here, it won't be difficult for me to turn them into handfuls of ash with my Dark Energy, whether it's Morok and his squad or anyone else."

Merra had nothing to add. She knew that this was exactly what would happen.

Tremble. Tremble. Tremble.

A powerful stream of energy burst from Adam's body, causing a smirk to appear on Zargos's face.

The changes came faster than they had expected, and their barrier would not be able to hold back this dark, black force for long.

...

Dark Silvana swung her needle as she brought her arm back for the next strike. The tip of her needle was aimed directly at Adam, who stood in a similar stance, except that he had no needle or any weapon at all.

All he had were his hands, his energy, and the one ability he had created himself, rather than receiving from a gene, artifact, or victory over a powerful monster.

"My path is the only thing I need to win!" Adam exclaimed inwardly as he took a step forward.

Never before had he tried to use the path without his needle. Deep down, he had always believed that the needle was part of this ability, that it was his weapon that paved the path to his opponent and victory.

He had only one chance. If he exposed himself to Dark Silvana's attack, it would be the end for him. One critical wound would end their fight, and he would lose everything.

'Agh, how strange that I cannot contact the real Silvana, while being forced to fight against her evil clone. Well, that's one more reason to win!'

Step!

They stepped forward simultaneously as two energy flows rushed forward. The dark one from Dark Silvana, paving a path for her to Adam, and the white one from Adam.

Neither of them was ready for this, but the two paths collided in the middle, and it was too late to stop.

Dark Silvana and Adam's frames shook as they moved forward in a single blur, breaking away from their spots.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

The darkness from the destructive path tore Adam's light to shreds, exposing his shoulders.

Only a thin layer of light remained on his hands, like a last line of defense.

He gritted his teeth as the darkness, like a fierce wind, scratched his face, trying to take all his light away.

It was a power that the First Star could never accept.

But the First Star was not here, only Adam and his inner space.

"That's not enough!" He roared as he took a step forward, risking the Dark Silvana's needle cutting his arm.

Clang!

The dark needle trembled as an invisible barrier prevented it from touching Adam's palm.

At the same moment, the last shred of light covering the tips of Adam's fingers became as bright as the sun, bursting out in a powerful stream that covered him in a white veil.

Dark Silvana's expression changed, filling with fear. She wanted to retreat, but couldn't. Unlike Adam, she didn't know that the path could not be reversed. Once she used this ability, only victory or defeat awaited her.

Crack. Crack. Crack.

Cracks spread across her frame, while Adam's path gained strength and hers became less and less formidable. The darkness, which had been so cruel before, now resembled nothing more than a frightened flow.

"Hah, you copied all my abilities, but not the most important one?"

Adam smirked.

"That's right." He nodded. "You're just a clone, while my path is real!"

Whooooosh!

With the next step, Adam's speed reached its limit as the white path tore through all the darkness ahead for tens of meters.

Glass shards flew in all directions as Dark Silvana was destroyed in the blink of an eye.

The needle flew to the side, piercing the darkness as if it were a solid surface. Light streams came out through the cracks.

"Gha..."

Adam took a deep breath, while energy calmly wandered around him.

Then, he slowly turned to look at the needle, at its handle.

Adam smirked.

"It's time for us to become allies again. Am I right?"
