Chapter 1684 1684: Sword Field (Part 2)
Chapter 1684 1684: Sword Field (Part 2)
The sword wall consisted of hundreds of giant swords, tightly packed together in several layers to prevent even the tiniest gap.
Now, the Dark Knight had blocked the only passage, and it became clear to everyone that until they destroyed the last servant and the Frenzied Shard, they would not be able to leave this place.
But was that really the case?
'This might be a way out,' Adam thought, looking at the sword tips. 'What's stopping us from just jumping over them?'
Soon, he realized that the Dark Knight had taken care of that.
'Shit…' Adam cursed inwardly, watching the thick darkness fill the air above the sword field.
This darkness practically blended into the ever-dark night sky of the Hollow Lands, but Adam could make them out.
'So there really is only one way out of here?'
Tap.
With a brief pulse, his needle appeared in his hand, a weapon that, after its latest transformation, now resembled a long, heavy sword with a blade as dark as the Dark Knight's.
Strangely enough, it immediately caught his attention.
"Young man, I must admit that you possess a unique weapon. Where did you get it?"
Adam smiled bitterly.
"It's been with me from the very beginning, so-"
"No."
The Dark Knight cut him off sharply.
"That's not the original form of your weapon. I can feel it. I can see how your... your sword... No, it's not exactly a sword, is it?"
Gradually, the confusion in Adam's eyes gave way to confidence, or even pride.
"Come on, old man. One glance at your aura is enough to understand that you've walked the same difficult path. You're asking me what I did to get this weapon?"
Adam assumed a fighting stance, gripping the hilt firmly with both hands.
"I fought and won! I did it over and over until I ended up here!"
Suddenly, a deep, ragged laugh rang out from the Dark Knight:
"Hahahahaha! If you were a monster, you'd definitely be at the blade pillar. Though…" His tone dropped. "You're not far off."
Adam was about to say something when his eyes widened in disbelief.
'Agh?'
He could no longer see the Dark Knight.
'Where did he go?'
WHOOOOOSH!
In a heartbeat, the massive figure appeared before him with a violent gust of wind.
All Adam could see was a heavy fist moving straight toward him.
'FUCK!'
At the last moment, Adam threw up a block as the Dark Knight's fist slammed directly into the blade of his needle.
The impact sent Adam flying backward dozens of meters, causing his back to slam into one of the many wall swords.
He was lucky that the blade was facing away from him.
"Gha!" Adam gasped in pain, slowly getting back up from the ground.
For Loargh, Vyora, and Sarka, this was the turning point.
The battle had begun, and one of them was already wounded.
Tremble!
Loargh's eyes flashed brightly as he charged forward at full speed. Unlike the situation with the Red Scavengers, he knew he couldn't defeat the Dark Knight with a single strike.
But he could do something else.
Whooosh. Whoooosh. Whoooosh.
In a circle of light, Loargh ran around the Dark Knight. He grew faster with each lap, kicking up dust and trampling the dry grass beneath him.
'It doesn't matter how strong he is, if he doesn't know where I'm attacking from, it's useless! All I need to do is find his weak spot!'
The Dark Knight stood still. The white flash flickered before him time and again, reflecting off his armor.
STEP!
With his next step, the Dark Knight slammed his full weight into the ground, creating a shockwave.
That slight tremor was enough to throw Loargh off his stride and momentarily slow him down.
Vyora's eyes filled with fear as Loargh's silhouette became visible in the light disk.
DASH!
In a single surge, the Dark Knight lunged forward, his hand already outstretched.
Sarka bit her lip until it bled. 'What the FUCK!?'
CLUTCH!
The Dark Knight's hand clenched tightly around Loargh's neck. The rough, armored fingers dug into his skin, tighter and tighter.
"GRRHHHH!!!" Loargh growled, trying to break free from his grip.
But, even with all his strength, he couldn't loosen the Dark Knight's grip.
"BASTARD!!!"
Vyora's roar echoed from the side as the flaming orbs rained down on him.
However, the Dark Knight didn't even react. He continued to choke Loargh.
Twitch. Twitch. Twitch.
As his armor glowed red from the approaching flame, his cape twitched as if alive.
After that, three large eyes, vertical in shape, with red irises and round pupils, opened on the Dark Knight's cape.
Sarka was speechless, watching from the sidelines. 'Shit, is this his artifact, an ability, or is this cape part of his body?!'
SWING!
In a sweeping motion, the dark cape engulfed the flaming orbs, leaving not even a spark behind. One of the red eyes trembled, its pupil spinning from side to side as if maddened, before returning to normal.
Adam noticed this. The scene was clear to him.
'Vyora's attack only affected one of the three eyes? Shit… That's bad.'
Realizing that Vyora's attack had failed because of the Dark Knight's eerie cape, Sarka lunged forward.
Tap. Tap. Tap.
She leaped from one spot to another in a blue flash, gathering her energy into her fist.
Soon, she found herself right in front of the Dark Knight. Seeing her, the Dark Knight stepped out of the way, wary of her energy.
"Get it!"
The Dark Knight glanced at her, raising his sword to block.
BLAST!
The explosion of blue flame engulfed the Dark Knight, leaving only his shadow visible.
Without hesitation, Sarka lunged forward, striking the Dark Knight's wrist with her palm, momentarily loosening his grip.
"YES!" Sarka exclaimed joyfully as she leaped aside.
She didn't need to help Loargh. What she had done was more than enough.
As soon as he could catch his first breath, lightning flashed in his eyes as he ran as far away from the Dark Knight as possible.
"S-Sarka!" he shouted in a hoarse voice. "Get out of the way! Go to the wall!"
She was confused until a bright light and intense heat appeared from above.
She looked up and grinned widely.
The meteorite was heading straight for the Dark Knight.
