Chapter 1686: Dark Knight (Part 2)
Chapter 1686: Dark Knight (Part 2)
Phantoms rarely appeared in the Hollow Lands, so Loargh, Sarka, and Vyora naturally relied solely on their own strength.
It hadn’t yet sunk in that there was another warrior with them - one who, unlike them, wasn’t a monster.
But the Dark Knight realized that this Phantom had been a threat from the very beginning.
Crack. Crack. Crack.
The imaginary blade shattered into fragments, while the Dark Knight’s sword bore only a scratch.
Sarka grinned widely, noting the Dark Knight’s stance.
"Hah! Looks like he’s finally starting to take this fight seriously! Great job, Adam!"
She was about to pat him on the shoulder, but something made her stop.
’Agh?’
The two blades were in his grip, a pair of swords that were miniature copies of the scissor blades. The blades were transparent, distorting the light, and only the purple hue emanating from their outlines gave them shape.
Whoooooosh!
In a heartbeat, Adam lunged forward, ending up right in front of the Dark Knight, who hadn’t yet recovered from the previous attack.
Adam raised the imaginary blades high above his head, preparing to bring them down on the Dark Knight with all his might.
Thanks to this ability, Adam had practically defeated Vaarh, one of his strongest opponents.
But a lot of time had passed since then, especially at the Sky Cube, where he had trained alongside Tron. He had learned to use all his abilities more effectively, and the imaginary blades were no exception.
BAM!
The pair of blades struck the Dark Knight, colliding with his sword.
The shockwave rippled out, causing the tips of the tall grass and the black flowers hiding among them to sway.
Because of his helmet, the Dark Knight’s eyes were hidden. Only an amber light remained visible, but everyone could tell that Adam’s attack had impressed him for a different reason.
He said nothing, and his stance remained unchanged.
’Wait...’ Vyora blinked several times. ’Are you saying he’s wary of Adam’s blades but not my meteorite? What the hell?!’
However, Adam wasn’t going to stop there. He raised his blades and brought them down again, then again and again.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Every time Adam attacked, the Dark Knight had to raise his sword, blocking two blades at once. Gradually, he was forced to retreat, moving further and further away from the Frenzied Shard, which was his only weak spot.
Sarka narrowed her eyes.
’If he keeps this up, that knight will be open for a strike! Ha! I’ll be the one to end this fight!’
Whooooosh!
Suddenly, Adam changed his grip, and now his left blade moved up and down, while his right blade headed straight for the Dark Knight’s side.
Given the distance, the Dark Knight had no way to block both blades with just his sword.
Instantly, the cape trembled as it covered the Dark Knight’s left side, becoming as solid as a steel wall.
Dang!
The imaginary blade slammed straight into the cape, leaving not even a scratch on the surprisingly durable material. None of the three red eyes, none of the pupils, began to flicker from side to side. This attack had not been strong enough.
’He decided to take a risk, to wound me through my armor, but he failed,’ the Dark Knight thought, gripping his sword tighter. ’Now it’s my turn to attack!’
THRUST!
Suddenly, blood gushed from the Dark Knight’s shoulder as a wave of pain washed over his body.
Confusion overwhelmed the Dark Knight as he raised his head only to meet Adam’s calm, confident gaze.
’What? How?!’ The Dark Knight stared at Adam’s blades. None of them had reached him.
But, at that moment, the Dark Knight hadn’t yet realized that Adam had far more than just two blades.
The Dark Knight turned, seeing the imaginary blade that had plunged deep into his shoulder, striking right between the plates of his armor.
Whooooosh!
Adam waved his hand as more than thirty imaginary blades soared through the air. Each was as large as the blades of his scissors.
"Try blocking this with your strange coat."
Tap.
Adam jumped back, staring intently at the Dark Knight.
He slowly lowered his blade, pointing it at the Dark Knight like a general addressing his army.
At the same moment, all the imaginary blades spun, gathering speed, and simultaneously crashed down on a single target.
The last thing the Dark Knight managed to do was to wave his cape, completely covering himself with a protective dome.
Thrust! Thrust! Thrust!
One after another, the imaginary blades crashed into the dark dome. Most were deflected aside, unable to pierce the sturdy layer, but with each strike, the three eyes trembled more violently.
Adam watched this closely.
’First.’
He thought as one of the pupils began to tremble.
’Second.’
The next eye began to act the same way, falling into madness.
’And the third...’
The last eye joined the others in a frenzied rush. At that very moment, a red light flashed across the cape as it lost all its incredible strength.
Thrust! Thrust!
The two remaining imaginary swords sliced through the dark fabric. Their sharp blades plunged straight into the Dark Knight’s sides.
"GRH!!!"
With a pained growl from the Dark Knight, two streams of blood gushed onto the ground.
For the first time in a long while, the yellow, dry grass and sparse black flowers were stained crimson.
"Gha... Gha... Gha..."
The Dark Knight’s ragged breathing echoed as the imaginary blades shattered into fragments, falling at his feet into his own blood.
The blades in Adam’s grip vanished as well, and a trickle of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.
’Tsk.’ He brushed the trickle away. ’Thirty blades are still too many, right?’
Clang!
The Dark Knight struck his sword against the ground as two dark energy flows surged toward his wounds.
"Good strike, young Phantom." The Dark Knight’s hoarse voice rang out as his bleeding stopped.
In just a few seconds, he was standing upright again, ready for battle. Such wounds could not bring him to his knees.
However, for the others, this was a clear path to victory.
Loargh smirked.
"Hah, so he bleeds just like us, after all? Great, that means we no longer have any reason to hold back. Vyora, I see a path to victory."
She turned as his eyes shone brightly.
Loargh was ready to activate his Hollow Mark.
