Chapter 1828: She Doesn’t Respond
Chapter 1828: She Doesn’t Respond
Twitch.
Adam’s fingertips trembled as he raised his hand to throw.
He was about to use “The Future of the Past.” He wanted to attack the colossal tiger from a distance, but for some reason, neither a glove nor a spear appeared in his hand.
“Agh…?”
Confused, Adam missed the moment when the colossal tiger lunged forward, ending up right in front of him.
Three massive claws lunged at him from the right, slicing through trees and rocks in their path as if they were toys rather than the toughest materials imbued with the energy of the Tarnished Lands.
“Damn it!” Adam leaped high into the air, dodging the tiger’s paws, but the second one was already to his left.
BAM!
The giant paw slammed into him, sending him flying toward a hill in the distance. With a crash, Adam slammed into the ground, leaving a crater where his back had hit.
“AGH!”
Blood gushed from his mouth, but the pain didn’t bother him, unlike the fact that he couldn’t use his ability. Again.
“What the hell is going on?” Adam spat out, getting to his feet.
Thump. Thump. Thump.
With heavy footsteps, the colossal tiger moved forward, causing the air to tremble. The yellow light gathered at the tips of its three tails, forming long, vibrating blades.
“Something’s not right,” Adam frowned as he tried to figure out what was happening.
Soon enough, an idea occurred to him.
“Could it be that…”
He stretched out his hand as he tried to summon an Imaginary Blade, even just one. He had used this ability dozens of times and had mastered it quite well.
However, not even a glass shard appeared in his hand, nothing.
Adam’s expression darkened as he realized something.
‘I can’t use the abilities I share with Silvana. But why?’
WHOOOOOSH!
The tiger’s tail lashed out at Adam like a whip, but just as Adam’s body began to tremble, he found himself stepping aside to dodge the attack.
‘SILVANA!’ Adam cried out inwardly, trying to get through to her.
However, there was only silence in response.
This had never happened before.
In the Hollow Lands, Adam had completely lost contact with Silvana because of the barrier, but now he felt that she was still connected to his inner space. She wasn’t isolated, but she had decided to ignore him for some reason.
This had been going on ever since Adam used the Void Transit.
“Hey, do you know what’s going on here?” Adam asked as he jumped out of the way of the next tail whip.
The Silver Weaver shook his head.
‘Silvana is up to something. She hasn’t shared her plans with me, but judging by her energy, the last time I sensed it, something significant has happened, for her and possibly for you.’
‘Do you think she’s all right?’
The Silver Weaver nodded.
“I’m sure of it. If she were in danger, you would have sensed it. Anyway, you’d better focus on yourself right now. You really can’t use two abilities at once.”
Adam smiled bitterly as he looked up.
The colossal tiger stood before him, its three tails raised high as the light blades stood ready to cut it to pieces.
“Well, I can deal with that later. It doesn’t matter what Silvana has in mind. She’s most likely doing this for both of us. Losing two abilities is certainly unpleasant, but it’s temporary, and I’ve had a similar experience before.”
True, in the Hollow Lands, because of Queen Elisa’s blood, Adam couldn’t use his Nexus.
But knowing that Silvana was involved gave Adam confidence.
“Looks like the next time I can use our combined abilities, I’ll see something new, won’t I? Huh, great. That just boosted my motivation to fight!”
Adam knew that when he needed it, Silvana would do everything she could to help him.
“Right now, against this big, evil cat, I don’t need our abilities.”
Clutch.
Adam clenched his fists as his aura trembled.
“I can handle this with a single punch.”
At that very moment, a powerful surge of aura burst from Adam’s body, transforming into a shimmering white pillar that shot toward the sky.
No mist could stop Adam’s aura.
“Rgh…!”
The colossal tiger growled. It was forced to step back, staring intently at Adam’s fist. The energy was thickening around it.
“Maybe it’s a good thing I couldn’t use our abilities. I planned to do this without them anyway!”
Whooooooosh!
Adam leaped forward as his form turned into a blur.
In the blink of an eye, Adam found himself right in front of the colossal tiger, causing its amber eyes to widen.
Without hesitation, the tiger lashed out at Adam with all three of its tails, tails powerful enough to slice a hill in half, but Adam did not doubt his own strength.
Before the tails could reach him, his fist reached its full power. The energy in his grip shone brightly, as if a tiny star were hidden within his fist.
“One punch will be enough for you!!!” Adam exclaimed, pouring all his strength into a single strike.
BLAST!
His fist slammed into the tiger’s head, momentarily causing a flash that swept through the Silent Hills.
In the next instant, a deafening explosion followed the flash, reducing the colossal tiger and its three tails to nothing. Like shadows, they were erased in the face of the blinding, boundless light.
Tap.
Adam landed, breathing heavily.
He slowly rose from the ground as hot steam rose from his fist. He had attacked the mist creature, but because of its sheer strength, his arms were covered in scratches.
“Huh, not too bad for a single punch, is it?”
Adam chuckled, looking at the crater left in the place of the colossal tiger.
Now, nothing would stop him from heading to the rift and retrieving the glass root.
…
Sip.
Krador took a sip of tea as he looked out at the Silent Hills from the balcony of his tower.
Adam’s energy blast was visible even from such a distance, and neither Laroza nor Krador could have missed something so significant.
“Huh, I told you he’d pull it off!” Laroza smirked, happily taking a sip of beer.
Krador narrowed his eyes.
“Indeed, not bad at all. That’s good, I’ve wanted to get the Glass Root for a long time.”
