Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1871: Hundreds of Statues and the True Spirit of Eternal Winter

Chapter 1871: Hundreds of Statues and the True Spirit of Eternal Winter

Adam couldn’t restore Vador’s Legacy Artifact the same way he had restored his Evolution Tree.

The fact that Adam had been able to restore the destroyed Evolution Tree was, in itself, an impressive achievement. Amelia was right that his abilities were suited for this task, but the Legacy Artifacts required a different approach.

Adam already knew the plan. He had to take a piece of Amelia’s Legacy Artifact and place it inside Vador’s artifact. This was to serve as the foundation around which Adam could restore the core of the Spirit of Eternal Winter.

In the room were Romara, Nukra, Amelia, Adam, and Vador. Nukra and Romara stood to the side so as not to disturb them, while Vador was still too weak to get out of bed or even speak.

His Evolution Tree was no longer losing energy, but the shattered Legacy Artifact was slowly draining his energy.

“Are you ready?” Adam asked, looking at Amelia.

Amelia nodded deeply before baring her chest.

“Yes. Contact will be better here. When you’re ready, place your palm on me and don’t stop. No matter what happens to me, you must help Vador.”

“Sure.” Adam’s eyes grew deeper as he touched Vador’s wrist. “I’ll do whatever it takes. It’s my part of our deal.”

Tap.

As soon as Adam’s palm touched Amelia’s chest, he directed energy pulses toward her and Vador.

Adam hadn’t done this before, but he realized that if he could enter Vador’s inner space, nothing was stopping him from doing so with both spaces at once.

Blink.

Adam blinked as he found himself standing before the great Evolution Tree. It was significantly larger than his own but smaller than Vador’s.

A chill enveloped Adam, and his teeth began to chatter from the cold.

“Huh… So this is what her Evolution Tree looks like. But… this cold isn’t coming solely from her energy, is it?”

His gaze turned to the white vase, which, unlike Vador’s, was intact and full of energy. The blue flows poured out in a powerful current, rising upward only to then cascade downward like a fountain.

“Alright, I have to do this.”

Confidently, Adam stepped forward as soon as he found himself in front of the white vase. It was Amelia’s Spirit of Eternal Winter.

It wasn’t a copy or a replica. This version of a Legacy Artifact was no different from all the others in the Grad Family.

That was how Legacy Artifacts worked. Strange as it may seem, this most unusual and greatest type of artifact behaved like tiny cells, free to replicate themselves endlessly as long as certain conditions were met.

Tap.

Adam reached out and touched the white vase.

Just like last time, a bright flash swept through the inner space as Adam’s mind was transported to another place.

Whooooooosh!

A wave of cold swept over Adam. The frosty air made the tips of his black hair tremble as snow-capped mountains and frozen lakes appeared before his eyes.

“Huh… I’m here again, right?”

Adam already had a little experience, so he turned his gaze toward the large lake to his right.

He stepped closer, expecting an altar to appear, along with the core of the Spirit of Eternal Winter.

However, even when he reached the center of the lake, nothing happened.

“Hmm? Am I doing something wrong?”

Adam looked around with a puzzled expression.

Then, he shook his head.

“No. This is definitely the inner space of her artifact. The core must be somewhere here. It can’t be any other way.”

Adam narrowed his eyes as soon as he noticed something. Light energy flowed, drifting through the air, moving with the wind currents.

It wasn’t obvious, but Adam could make out the pattern. The wind currents that the energy followed were moving in one direction, toward the forest beyond the grand lake.

“I see. So it’s there?”

With a determined glare, Adam surged forward, quickly leaving the lake behind and racing through the forest.

He was moving, following the energy currents, when suddenly something made him stop.

A wave of snow rose before him as he reached the edge of the forest, or, more precisely, a vast field where there wasn’t a single tree or river.

“What the…?”

Aside from the thick layer of snow, an amazing and beautiful sight was reflected in Adam’s eyes.

Hundreds of ice statues depicting women appeared before his eyes.

Looking closer, Adam realized something.

“Wait, are… are all these statues of Amelia?”

Adam blinked several times. He thought he was imagining things, but even after he rubbed his eyes, nothing had changed.

Then, something caught the corner of his eye.

Someone was standing in front of one of the statues, working on it with a hammer and chisel, carefully transforming a chunk of ice into a beautiful statue.

“Hey! You!” Adam exclaimed as he stepped forward.

At that moment, the person turned around, causing Adam’s eyes to widen.

Standing before him was a beautiful girl with pale skin and white hair that reached down to her waist. Like Amelia, she wore an elegant long dress, and her movements were slow and graceful.

She resembled Amelia, but it wasn’t her. Amelia’s eyes were calm, and her expression was usually devoid of emotion, but no matter how hard she tried to hide it, she sometimes revealed her true feelings.

However, the eyes of the girl before him were different. She wasn’t a robot, but she certainly wasn’t a monster or a human.

Adam had seen something similar only in Lone Blaze, but this girl’s gaze was significantly deeper and wiser.

“You’ve finally come, Adam Vinter. Lately, I’ve had to learn a lot about you. After all,” she ran her hand over the hundreds of statues on the field, “that was Amelia’s will.”

For a moment, Adam’s face froze as realization struck him.

“You… You’re not a monster or a human, you’re the Spirit of Eternal Winter, right?”

Strangely enough, the girl nodded.

“Indeed. To be precise, I’m one of us. As you know, the Grad Family consists of six members, so besides me, there are five others just like me.”

Adam gulped.

He hadn’t expected the Legacy Artifact to have a body, just like Lone Blaze, but this opened up new possibilities for him.

Perhaps, together, they could come up with a better plan than Amelia’s, one where she essentially sacrificed her own power.
