Endless Evolution: Last Star

Chapter 1872: A Memory Behind the Seal

Chapter 1872: A Memory Behind the Seal

Adam should have realized that if Lone Blaze, who was an External Artifact, had a body, then the Legacy Artifact must have something similar as well.

However, that didn’t matter anymore because he was already here, standing before hundreds of ice statues.

“So, considering everything that’s happened, you must already know Amelia’s plan, right?”

The girl nodded.

“Sure. And I think Amelia is wrong.”

“Hmm? Are you saying she doesn’t need to give up part of her artifact to heal Vador?”

The girl nodded again.

“Don’t get me wrong. Amelia’s method might work. In fact, if you do everything carefully, the damage inflicted on her will be minimal, and that way you’ll be able to restore Vador’s artifact. But she doesn’t fully understand what a Phantom like you is capable of.”

“Agh? What are you trying to say?” Adam tilted his head in confusion.

In response, the girl gestured with her hand, indicating her own body.

“I could give up a part of myself right now, but for what? All you need is your needle.”

Still, Adam was puzzled. He didn’t understand what she was talking about.

The girl continued:

“As I understand it, you haven’t encountered Vador’s artifact in its human form, have you?”

“Yes. When I entered his inner space, I saw snow-covered lands just like yours, but when an ice altar and a shattered core appeared in the middle of the lake, I was thrown out.”

“I see. Look, you have to return to Vador’s inner space. Go to the lake and don’t let the altar fling you back out.”

Adam wanted to ask how he was supposed to do that, but the girl beat him to it.

Tap.

She held out her hand as frost flows swirled around her. A massive, icy nine-pointed star soared before Adam. It was flat and wide enough to serve as a shield if necessary.

“Here, this won’t be enough to block the ice flash, but the time you gain will allow Vador’s artifact to realize that your goal isn’t to destroy it but to restore it. After that, you’ll figure out what to do on your own.”

Whooooosh.

The girl waved her hand as a portal opened to their right. As soon as Adam stepped into it, he would leave this space.

Before leaving, Adam pointed at the ice statues.

“What about these? What are they?”

“Oh, nothing special. I just decided to capture Amelia’s training sessions and her movements. I have quite a lot of time here, as you know, so I figured it wouldn’t hurt to put it to good use.”

Adam was about to leave, but something made him stop as he turned back to her.

“You and the others are the Spirit of Eternal Winter, one of the few Legacy Artifacts, right?”

The girl nodded deeply. “Correct.”

“So, you and the others, do you remember how you were born? What event led to the Spirit of Eternal Winter’s appearance?”

This time, the answer wasn’t immediate. The girl’s eyes grew more pensive.

After a moment, she looked up, staring intently at Adam.

“Yes. I understand your interest, and I’m willing to satisfy it, but not just like that. If you can actually help Vador, and therefore one of us, then so be it. I’ll show you.”

Step.

The girl stepped forward as she touched Adam’s forehead.

The frost seal remained where she had touched him as she took a step back.

“When I sense that Vador’s artifact has been restored, this seal will open, and you will see fragments of the event that led to our birth. I’m sure this will be useful information for a Phantom like you.”

Adam gulped.

When he came here, he hadn’t expected such a gift, but now he had one more reason to help Vador.

Adam had once seen a memory of an artifact before. It happened when he was at the Gray Sea for the first time, though he hadn’t realized it at the time.

Bertrada, or, more precisely, the Silver Beacon, Adam had seen her memories of what had happened on Hollow Spire Island.

That was the reason why one of the Ancient Artifacts, the White Spire, had been destroyed.

Shiver.

A shiver ran through Adam’s body as he recalled the aura of the man from Bertrada’s memories and her sheer fear of his power. Though in that story, he was a positive character, having killed the great serpent that had brought disaster to that island.

‘This man… Who is he?’

Adam thought, but immediately pushed the thought aside.

‘No, I shouldn’t think about that right now. I have a more important task.’

“Got it. I hope it’ll be worth it,” Adam said, looking at the girl.

She nodded.

“You can count on it.” She pointed to the portal. “Now, go, you have an important mission ahead of you.”

“Sure.”

Step.

He stepped into the portal as it trembled and vanished.

The girl stared at a single point for a while before sighing heavily.

“Amelia, I hope you know what you’re doing by helping this Phantom. He could indeed become the next Second-Rank Phantom. Every time one of them appears or dies, it affects the entire world.”

Whooooooosh!

At that very moment, Adam’s consciousness swept through Amelia’s inner space, moving straight toward Vador’s.

Soon, he found himself once again standing before Vador’s Evolution Tree to take in the results of his impressive work.

“Hah, it wasn’t so bad after all, was it?” Adam chuckled, looking at the magnificent tree before him.

The countless seams were still visible since Vador’s Evolution Tree hadn’t yet fully recovered. The dual threads glistened as the amber light ran along them.

Once Vador’s Legacy Artifact is restored, Vador will no longer lose energy, and he’ll return to the peak of his power fairly quickly.

“Alright, it’s good that I don’t need to fix anything else, but I came here for another reason.”

Just like last time, Adam walked over to the white vase and touched it.

His consciousness was transported into the artifact’s inner space as he saw a familiar scene.

This place was slightly different from Amelia’s, but for the most part, it was very similar.

Tap.

Adam removed the ice-star shield from his back, looking out at the large lake ahead.

“Alright, I’m ready. It’s time to finish this.”
