Chapter 2002: True Lord Form and Dark Constellation
Chapter 2002: True Lord Form and Dark Constellation
The title itself could reveal a lot about a monster or a Phantom. After all, many Second-Rank Phantoms had titles. In their case, it was an indicator of their incredible strength, which monsters both recognized and feared.
Durand was a good example of this. His title showed just how dangerous he was and, to some extent, revealed his abilities.
But… Goen and Kamora were in a unique situation.
All their title indicated was their rank as Knights in the World End Squad. That’s it.
BAM!
Kamora’s fist slammed into Durand’s scythe as the Gray Jaw snapped shut, bringing its fangs down on him.
Several minutes had already passed since Adam arrived on the battlefield.
Kamora sacrificed one fang of the gray jaw to protect Adam, and this didn’t significantly affect her combat capabilities.
The barrier around Adam was sturdy, but it was unlikely to withstand more than two or three attacks from Durand.
This barrier was necessary to prevent Durand from killing Adam in a split second with a random attack. Now, if Durand tried to sneak an attack on Adam, Kamora would have time to react before the barrier was destroyed.
Moreover, his death energy wouldn’t be able to reach him either.
Bam! Bam! Bam!
Kamora and Durand continued to attack each other; every time the gray jaw bit down, it resulted in a new wound for Durand. Sometimes it was just a cut, but more often they were deeper and more serious wounds.
He could heal them through the dark flows, but to do so he had to use his energy, and even his reserves weren’t infinite.
Kamora, for her part, felt more than confident. She didn’t need any special abilities to defeat Durand, since his death energy couldn’t harm her.
Adam remained in one spot alongside the black-and-white shark. He remembered his promise to give up the energy he had accumulated up to that point, but that moment had not yet come, and the shark, like him, was watching the battle closely.
He was much stronger than when he first began his journey, but now he felt like a novice.
Even with his current power, he could barely see their movements.
Kamora and Durand moved at their usual speed, but for Adam, it was too fast for him to keep up with them.
To everyone else weaker than the True Lord Level, Kamora and Durand looked like two flashes, one black and one gray, crashing into each other at tremendous speed several times per second.
With each clash, ripples and shockwaves radiated through the air, dispersing the nearby clouds.
But even so, Adam realized that Durand was losing, and if he didn’t want to die within the next few minutes, he had to do something.
SLASH!
Durand swung his scythe, sending Kamora flying a great distance. This bought him a few seconds.
“Huh,” Kamora smirked, placing her hands on her hips. “What? Are you out of steam already?”
Durand frowned. He didn’t like that he couldn’t hurt Kamora no matter how hard he tried. She was faster and stronger than him, and his abilities didn’t work on her.
In a way, Kamora was an awkward opponent for him. Then again, that would be true for any fighter who actively used a single element, be it fire, water, lightning, or death.
Tremble.
Durand’s aura grew stronger as a magic circle appeared before him.
Adam’s eyes widened, and Kamora frowned.
They both knew what that meant.
“You think I’ll let you activate it!?” Kamora lunged forward.
But before she could get close to him, Durand looked up. His green eyes stared intently at her, as if trying to see into her soul.
“You can’t stop me – everything is already set.”
Tap.
As soon as he touched the magic circle, all the runes fell into place, and the Constellation activated in a bright flash.
“Death Veil.”
At that very moment, powerful streams of dark energy surged outward, forcing Kamora to stop.
Even she couldn’t devour that much death energy at once, especially when it was actively pouring out of the magic circle.
The dark streams engulfed Durand, as if in a cocoon.
Adam narrowed his eyes as he realized what Durand intended to do.
‘When Saegar fought against the Lords of the Befallen Crown, he, too, had to activate his form. It’s a form available only to the True Lords. But…’
His gaze settled on Durand.
‘He used it together with his Constellation. These two trump cards are the strongest he has left at the moment.’
Shiver. Shiver.
The cocoon trembled, and soon it opened, revealing Durand’s new appearance in his True Lord Form, as well as the effect of his Constellation.
“Damn,” Adam noted. “Now he really looks dangerous.”
Durand’s hair grew longer, and his eyes changed color from green to black, as deep as two abysses.
His armor was now shrouded in an active darkness that made it look as if it were burning with a low, black flame.
But the most significant changes occurred in his arms. His hands were covered in a dark veil, and cracks ran along his forearms and upper arms.
‘So his Constellation changed his armor, right?’ Adam surmised as he carefully examined all the changes. ‘Hmm, and his form – is that his hair, eyes, and hands?’
“Saegar underwent more significant changes, but as with the Phantoms, it must be unique to each monster.”
Adam nodded deeply as he turned to Kamora.
He wanted to see her reaction and what she would do in response.
After all, Adam could sense how much more powerful Durand’s aura had become, and even his gaze showed that his threat had increased.
“I see…” Kamora gave Durand a long look, recognizing him as a worthy opponent for the first time.
Then, she shrugged.
“Well, sooner or later, this was bound to happen.”
She looked ahead confidently, extending her hand.
“Let’s go. We’ll take down that bastard together.”
At that very moment, a tall figure with powerful arms appeared behind Kamora.
This immediately brought a smile to Adam’s face and made Silvana hold her breath.
‘Manifest Nexus… Another one…’ Silvana muttered to herself.
